After today's foundation review, in natural light, without ring lights, showing your skin and how the foundation performed, I was so impressed with your honesty. I went to far I guess, I feel like you’re probably rolling eyes thinking this girl is odd. I have a tendency to be too transparent. For the last 3 years I have deleted all social media except UA-cam, moved to the back holler of the holler in the country to ensure I would remain sober, and have quality time with my children. People often say you have to change people places and things - it’s definitely helped me. I just have dreams of being successful on my own but with something I’ve been passionate about my whole life- my kids, addiction (now sobriety) and beauty (makeup and hair) have been the love of my life for 35 years. I’ve always wanted to create UA-cam content, but I’ve never had the confidence to be able to show myself, as single mom I can’t pay my bills sometimes, even though I work hard to keep up my home. I feel guilty getting myself a bottle of pop so I rely on makeup given to me- at tax time I force myself to buy a high end item usually foundation- I stretch it out for the entire year and cannot worry about expiration. Tara I just want to be able to support my family creating content with beauty because I genuinely love it. I wanna give them something I never had and that’s not worrying about money and mommy working so hard. You’re a true person and everyone sees you positively I just wanted to go out of comfort zone and see if anyone (you) had a kind enough heart to take a chance to teach me and make high end possible for myself and mostly for my teen daughter who is growing up in a time where makeup is everything- I can’t afford the stuff teen girls use these days and it’s killing me because I want all my kids to be genuinely happy, and to fit in wherever or however they want. I am so sorry

I ALWAYS struggle w/finding the right shade in NARS foundations….their shade range range almost always pulls too orange or yellow on me. Tara is about 1 shade deeper than I am but we have similar undertones- medium warm/olive. Barcelona is my best match but still not perfect, though just discovered that mixing Stromboli w/Barcelona is “just right.” Hope this helps others who fall in between shades like I do,

I swear that the best foundation I’ve ever found that works perfectly every time is my holy grail the Makeup Forever HD Foundation that no one talks about anymore, perfect for dry skin gals and it never ever settles into my fine lines. I’ve tried plenty and I don’t know why I even bother, haha🥰🥰
I have normal to dry skin(more dry)and it doesn’t cling on me at all I wear Syracuse. I love the foundation and sheer glow is my favorite by Nars. Maybe it’s your tan that’s causing it because I almost took it back because of the smell but the fact that it felt like nothing, didn’t cling at all and looked so good for everyday is the only reason I kept it. Try shade Barcelona! Not as yellow as Stromboli but more on the warm golden neutral side.....im in the shade 3w1.5 Fawn Estee Lauder Double Wear & shades 3N & 4N in the Dior Forever Glow
Hi Tara, Thank you for this review. I love that you put your skin type and types of foundations that work for you. This helps a lot as my skin is the same type as well and I’m 42.
I've used Aruba in the Radiant Longwear in the summer for years and I noticed the description actually changed from "M-MD with rich olive tones" to "M-MD with cool tones".🤔. Not only that, Barcelona(my winter shade) used to be described as "M-MD with subtle peach undertones" whereas now it's "M-MD with warm undertones and a golden tone". The actual shades have remained consistent despite the change in description which is confusing.
Thanks so much for the closeups and the really "honest" review. Was considering switching from EL Dbl Wear to this foundation which I've worn for 30+ years. But your review convinced me this new Nars foundation probably won't play well with my 73 yr face [fine lines and newly acquired crepey skin]. Your a Gem, Thanks.
Your foundation reviews are excellent. I really appreciate that you don’t “love” every product you try. It seems much more honest, and the closeups are great! If I may give the tiniest bit of constructive feedback. You do a lot of narrating throughout your videos that takes up a lot of time. I’m referring to talking about what you’re going to talk about. Like “when I come back I’m going to talk about this.” And then when you come back, “now I’m going to talk about this.” Or like “now I’m going to move my camera to this angle.” It gets a bit redundant. I personally love it when you tubers just hop right into it and are applying makeup within the first couple minutes of the video. I hope this doesn’t come across rude. I just think you’re fabulous and should have a lot more viewers and it was something I’ve noticed that makes me sort of skip forward to final thoughts. Your final thoughts and comparisons are fantastic.
Hmm I'd had high hopes for this one but I'm a 12 shift/14+ hour wear girl. I'm a very different shade to you but similar age range and skin type so if it doesn't last on you it won't last on me. As always a brilliantly detailed and thorough review... always my go to especially for complexion products (I love quite a few channels but 6-8 hour wear tests aren't helpful to me). Thanks Tara! 💞💞
The NARS "Luminous" foundation was discontinued to make room for this one. I also noticed that shade "Gobi" in Luminous was described as "yellow", but in the Light Reflecting it is now described as "neutral". :-/
Thank you for the honesty. You're beautiful w/out beauty lights. No worries! Try an Omni directional boom mic with back up lapel mic for sound (you can choose or combine tracks for a more "full, dense" sound). Just a thought from a nerd but it's all great n super informative. Thank you!
I tried the New Charlotte Tilbury, Shiseido and Nars this month. The Nars is my favorite out of the three. I need to get the right shade. I got Stromboli and it’s way to yellow. Great review Tara!!!!

I literally was trying this foundation out as I was watching your review. Luckily, I had gotten a sample from Sephora with an order. I have non textured combo skin. It made my skin look Cakey, make-upy and heavy. I hate it! Unfortunately, because I am going out I had to take it off and start all over again😂 I was so excited to try this one too.
I have not had good luck with NARS foundations lately. I may try a sample first to see if I like it. P.S. your cute photo bomber was back! I love seeing his little face!

First, thank you for such a thorough review. Second, you have pretty skin. It’s human skin. I was pretty interested in this but now I’m not so sure. I tried the new Charlotte Tilbury foundation. I was fortunate to be able to get a sample. It just didn’t look good on me. I actually purchased the new Chanel No.1. I love it. I’m going to be satisfied with the Chanel and stop there. This foundation looks beautifullllll when you first put it on (brush worked best for me) but literally 6 hours in and it was falling apart. From someone with normal skin.
Hi Tara, I haven’t chatted with u in so long - but have to say ur Foundation reviews are so helpful - especially ur outside demo n I like the shade comparisons cause I’ve always struggled to find my shade in Nars foundations - still haven’t found my go to - so unfortunately wish u hadn’t had to mix but I probably would have to also. It looks heavier in ur demo than I have seen on others in their videos n I’m not sure why - I’m kinda turned off of the foundation now if it’s heavy - I really wanted it to be a light foundation. What’s ur favorite light Coverage foundation that is not a tinted moisturizer?
I’ve always been a fan- but since Mel became our makeup angel you’ve definitely helped missing her. Far beyond makeup tips she inspired me- I’ve got a terminal disease Huntington’s disease- I’m a mom of three it’s just harder than hard to deal most days I watch to see someone who pushes through! I’m terminal and poor I can’t work and it’ll be years before I get social security and I’m sad for needing it; so I can see two people have these unattainable makeup items presented in such sweet ways. ❤️

I've held back from buying this one because, well, it's Nars! I haven't had the best times with their foundations and this one seems to be extra finicky - use certain moisturising primers, spray sponge, powder lightly and finally .... pray! I'm happy to just pass. There are some fantastic foundations (that don't require coaxing to work) out there, why would I even bother with this one? Admittedly, I've seen differing opinions but I want a foundation that the majority agree on. As always, a honest, no fuss review with tons of swatches. Thank you 😊, Love to you always, 💗💗💗

I usually wear the same foundation shades as you and I noticed that Aruba had a different description too! I usually wear shade Vanuatu (i have no idea how to actually say that lol) in the winter time and Aruba in summer. It's a shame NARS shades are always so wonky because I LOVE their complexion products!
I ordered Aruba even though I noticed the description change, in case it was a misprint. Having said that I don’t think I have a perfect match in any Nars foundation. It arrives tomorrow so I guess I’ll see then. Nars foundations are never my favorite, but I’m a foundation junkie so I had to try it for myself. I’m planning on a trip to Sephora this weekend so I can check out shades then.

Forgot to say that we need to start reminding makeup companies that fair olive people complexioned people exist and don’t want to mix. I’ve given up on Western Foundation and am buying two cheap Korean CC creams and mixing them now. (Never looked better.)

This is my current fave...I chose this over CT Beautiful Skin. I am very selective about my makeup nowadays. Hoarding is wasteful by the time it all expires all I see is money I could've done better things with. I can wear Moorea, Aruba, Tahoe ,Valencia and Stromboli(In sheer glow Stromboli is described as a medium olive undertone). I have several options from winter to summer...and this is why I like Nars ..med/tan golden/olive skin ppl like me have choices whereas in other brands we are lucky to get 2 choices. I don't fake n bake...I'm scared of looking orange.
Thanks for this, Tara. If the foundation looks that shiny on you with dry/normal skin, it will never hold up on my combo/oily t-zone. I struggle with this with Nars’ more radiant foundations. They just do not hold up at all if you have even a pinch of oil. I had the same with their Radiant foundation. I do have the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate, and it lasts beautifully.

I agree completely, customers expect the same color, and color to the average customer means undertone and shade, if the foundation color name has already been in circulation from the same brand - Brands have got us all working so hard to use their products…. Super counterintuitive
i HAVE BEEN WAITING FORM YOUR REVIEW I heard it from Gabe too and I really want to know witch one they will discontinue because I love my Nars foundations I always have them even though I have more I always go back to the sheer glow and the radiant
I love Nars Sheer Glow but have had the hardest time finding my shade. Like you, I hate mixing my foundations. And like you, we share a very similar complexion and tone. This is why I always watch your reviews. I also feel that Nars shades jump significantly from one shade to the next in their complexion products. I wear Stromboli in Sheer Glow, but can only wear it in the winter and it is still a bit too light. I need to warm it up with bronzer and it works well for me.
I,love all Nars products. However, I find that their foundations are either pink or yellow, there is no neutral beige colours, just like MAC foundations.
Beautiful and your review is so helpful. I do believe that I will have to get 2 different foundation also. I have never brought nars before bcz I can never my correct shade.

U had2 mix 2 foundations, that happens 2 me alot I think it's bc everything I s either 2 light or 2 dark 4 certain skin tones,mine included..but that can get expensive so if u do like this foundation fyi I have it in Vanuatu it's the perfect color 4 me & 1 I finally dnt have2 mix..I think u would like it bc it's jus between the 2 colors u were using: the 2 dark Syracuse & the 2 light stromboli, Vanuatu is a medium with yellow warm undertones much darker than stromboli & lighter than Syracuse..thanks4 ur insightful videos.
LOVE the closeups. I have the same exact texture on the side of my chin and hate when foundation looks makeupy in the lines on the sides of my mouth. I wonder if setting spray would help. I work 12 hrs sometimes and always use 1. But I think you don't use 1 and compare many based on how things last on you with your favorite way of application/products. Ty!!!
I got a sample of it from Sephora and it looks so nice on the skin but I only wore it for a night out. I need to try it for a full day and see if it lifts
If you try it with your normal buffing of translucent setting powder , like hourglass please update us. I’m curious if that will help with the long wear in the center of your face.

I got this foundation and the new Charlotte and Chanel number 1 from Ulta. I liked both the Charlotte and Chanel but found they both come off my nose alot. I got the Nars and use the murad invisiblur under it with the kosas cloud set to set and the Charlotte setting spray and it's the only one that doesn't budge. I want to get a dior foundation or another Chanel would you suggest the Dior Skin Glow or the Chanel Velvet or Chanel Healthy Glow? I'm also thinking of getting the Chanel water tint to go under one. What's your thoughts on any of these? Sorry for all the questions I'm a full time working mom of 3 almost 40 and just got into makeup a year ago and still learning. 😅

Dry, normal, combo or oily? What finish do you prefer? Dewy, natural glow, Satin, semi Matte or Matte? And what coverage do you need? Light, Medium or full?

Hello Tara, thank you for another wonderfully thorough review. I was hesitating between this foundation and the LYS foundation. Which one do you like better? The Charlotte tilbury does not work well on me, it does not last on my skin 😔
Too bad I’m gonna have to pass. I have been so intrigued by it. Will stay with Pat McGrath and sheer glow. What foundation would you recommend for mature skin with a bit of texture. I prefer more light to medium coverage.

@@hegeto3631 I also wear sheer glow and it’s my favorite. I have to wear a mask most of the day and it doesn’t hold well under a mask. The coverage is more sheer to medium. So when it wears off it doesn’t look bad since it’s not heavy coverage. Without a mask it’s quite glorious but I’m my opinion Pat McGrath wears better under a mask if powdered. For reference I am 45 and have pretty clear skin but I have an oily tzone. If your skin is dry sheer glow would be nice.

I've used Aruba in the Radiant Longwear in the summer for years and I noticed the description actually changed from "M-MD with rich olive tones" to "M-MD with cool tones".🤔. Not only that, Barcelona(my winter shade) used to be described as "M-MD with subtle peach undertones" whereas now it's "M-MD with warm undertones and a golden tone". The actual shades have remained consistent despite the change in description which is confusing.

Your foundation reviews are excellent. I really appreciate that you don’t “love” every product you try. It seems much more honest, and the closeups are great! If I may give the tiniest bit of constructive feedback. You do a lot of narrating throughout your videos that takes up a lot of time. I’m referring to talking about what you’re going to talk about. Like “when I come back I’m going to talk about this.” And then when you come back, “now I’m going to talk about this.” Or like “now I’m going to move my camera to this angle.” It gets a bit redundant. I personally love it when you tubers just hop right into it and are applying makeup within the first couple minutes of the video. I hope this doesn’t come across rude. I just think you’re fabulous and should have a lot more viewers and it was something I’ve noticed that makes me sort of skip forward to final thoughts. Your final thoughts and comparisons are fantastic.
Hmm I'd had high hopes for this one but I'm a 12 shift/14+ hour wear girl. I'm a very different shade to you but similar age range and skin type so if it doesn't last on you it won't last on me. As always a brilliantly detailed and thorough review... always my go to especially for complexion products (I love quite a few channels but 6-8 hour wear tests aren't helpful to me). Thanks Tara! 💞💞
The NARS "Luminous" foundation was discontinued to make room for this one. I also noticed that shade "Gobi" in Luminous was described as "yellow", but in the Light Reflecting it is now described as "neutral". :-/

Thank you for the honesty. You're beautiful w/out beauty lights. No worries! Try an Omni directional boom mic with back up lapel mic for sound (you can choose or combine tracks for a more "full, dense" sound). Just a thought from a nerd but it's all great n super informative. Thank you!
I tried the New Charlotte Tilbury, Shiseido and Nars this month.
The Nars is my favorite out of the three.
I need to get the right shade. I got Stromboli and it’s way to yellow.

I literally was trying this foundation out as I was watching your review. Luckily, I had gotten a sample from Sephora with an order. I have non textured combo skin. It made my skin look Cakey, make-upy and heavy. I hate it! Unfortunately, because I am going out I had to take it off and start all over again😂 I was so excited to try this one too.

First, thank you for such a thorough review. Second, you have pretty skin. It’s human skin. I was pretty interested in this but now I’m not so sure. I tried the new Charlotte Tilbury foundation. I was fortunate to be able to get a sample. It just didn’t look good on me. I actually purchased the new Chanel No.1. I love it. I’m going to be satisfied with the Chanel and stop there. Hi Tara, I haven’t chatted with u in so long - but have to say ur Foundation reviews are so helpful - especially ur outside demo n I like the shade comparisons cause I’ve always struggled to find my shade in Nars foundations - still haven’t found my go to - so unfortunately wish u hadn’t had to mix but I probably would have to also. It looks heavier in ur demo than I have seen on others in their videos n I’m not sure why - I’m kinda turned off of the foundation now if it’s heavy - I really wanted it to be a light foundation. I’ve always been a fan- but since Mel became our makeup angel you’ve definitely helped missing her. Far beyond makeup tips she inspired me- I’ve got a terminal disease Huntington’s disease- I’m a mom of three it’s just harder than hard to deal most days I watch to see someone who pushes through! I’m terminal and poor I can’t work and it’ll be years before I get social security and I’m sad for needing it; so I can see two people have these unattainable makeup items presented in such sweet ways. ❤️

I've held back from buying this one because, well, it's Nars! I haven't had the best times with their foundations and this one seems to be extra finicky - use certain moisturising primers, spray sponge, powder lightly and finally .... pray!
I'm happy to just pass. There are some fantastic foundations (that don't require coaxing to work) out there, why would I even bother with this one?
Admittedly, I've seen differing opinions but I want a foundation that the majority agree on.

I think the one they are replacing is the weightless foundation, and I'm so sorry because I used to LOVE it....but that was pre-covid and pre-mask wearing...

I usually wear the same foundation shades as you and I noticed that Aruba had a different description too! I usually wear shade Vanuatu (i have no idea how to actually say that lol) in the winter time and Aruba in summer. It's a shame NARS shades are always so wonky because I LOVE their complexion products!
I ordered Aruba even though I noticed the description change, in case it was a misprint. Having said that I don’t think I have a perfect match in any Nars foundation. It arrives tomorrow so I guess I’ll see then. Nars foundations are never my favorite, but I’m a foundation junkie so I had to try it for myself. I’m planning on a trip to Sephora this weekend so I can check out shades then.

Forgot to say that we need to start reminding makeup companies that fair olive people complexioned people exist and don’t want to mix. I’ve given up on Western Foundation and am buying two cheap Korean CC creams and mixing them now. (Never looked better.)

This is my current fave...I chose this over CT Beautiful Skin. I am very selective about my makeup nowadays. Hoarding is wasteful by the time it all expires all I see is money I could've done better things with. I can wear Moorea, Aruba, Tahoe ,Valencia and Stromboli(In sheer glow Stromboli is described as a medium olive undertone). I have several options from winter to summer...and this is why I like Nars ..med/tan golden/olive skin ppl like me have choices whereas in other brands we are lucky to get 2 choices. I don't fake n bake...I'm scared of looking orange.
Thanks for this, Tara. If the foundation looks that shiny on you with dry/normal skin, it will never hold up on my combo/oily t-zone. I struggle with this with Nars’ more radiant foundations. They just do not hold up at all if you have even a pinch of oil. I had the same with their Radiant foundation. I do have the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate, and it lasts beautifully.

I agree completely, customers expect the same color, and color to the average customer means undertone and shade, if the foundation color name has already been in circulation from the same brand -

I love Nars Sheer Glow but have had the hardest time finding my shade. Like you, I hate mixing my foundations. And like you, we share a very similar complexion and tone. This is why I always watch your reviews. I also feel that Nars shades jump significantly from one shade to the next in their complexion products. I wear Stromboli in Sheer Glow, but can only wear it in the winter and it is still a bit too light. I need to warm it up with bronzer and it works well for me.
I,love all Nars products. However, I find that their foundations are either pink or yellow, there is no neutral beige colours, just like MAC foundations.

U had2 mix 2 foundations, that happens 2 me alot I think it's bc everything I s either 2 light or 2 dark 4 certain skin tones,mine included..but that can get expensive so if u do like this foundation fyi I have it in Vanuatu it's the perfect color 4 me & 1 I finally dnt have2 mix..I think u would like it bc it's jus between the 2 colors u were using: the 2 dark Syracuse & the 2 light stromboli, Vanuatu is a medium with yellow warm undertones much darker than stromboli & lighter than Syracuse..thanks4 ur insightful videos.
LOVE the closeups. I have the same exact texture on the side of my chin and hate when foundation looks makeupy in the lines on the sides of my mouth. I wonder if setting spray would help. I work 12 hrs sometimes and always use 1. But I think you don't use 1 and compare many based on how things last on you with your favorite way of application/products. Ty!!!
I got a sample of it from Sephora and it looks so nice on the skin but I only wore it for a night out. I need to try it for a full day and see if it lifts

I got this foundation and the new Charlotte and Chanel number 1 from Ulta. I liked both the Charlotte and Chanel but found they both come off my nose alot. I got the Nars and use the murad invisiblur under it with the kosas cloud set to set and the Charlotte setting spray and it's the only one that doesn't budge. I want to get a dior foundation or another Chanel would you suggest the Dior Skin Glow or the Chanel Velvet or Chanel Healthy Glow? I'm also thinking of getting the Chanel water tint to go under one. What's your thoughts on any of these? Sorry for all the questions I'm a full time working mom of 3 almost 40 and just got into makeup a year ago and still learning. 😅

I personally LOVE the Sheer Glow. It's been a fav of mine for a few years now😁❤ Hate that you have to buy a pump for it though. So dumb🤦♀️

@@hegeto3631 I also wear sheer glow and it’s my favorite. I have to wear a mask most of the day and it doesn’t hold well under a mask. The coverage is more sheer to medium. So when it wears off it doesn’t look bad since it’s not heavy coverage. Without a mask it’s quite glorious but I’m my opinion Pat McGrath wears better under a mask if powdered. For reference I am 45 and have pretty clear skin but I have an oily tzone. If your skin is dry sheer glow would be nice.
