I just want to thank you for your channel. I've been a rider since High School and now I'm 70. My last bike was a 1996 Dyna Wide Glide and I loved that bike and I did all my work myself. My wife rode a 1200 Sportster but due to health reasons we had to sell them (thought we were too old to go back). Well its been 5 years and we have kind of recuperated both physically and financially. Long story short after seeing your channel and watching your videos it inspired me to get off my ass and get another bike and start riding again. So now I'm the proud owner of a 2011 Dyna Wide Glide (you can tell I'm a FXDWG guy) as of 2 weeks ago and I'm so glade I found your channel, it has inspired me. Keep doing what you do and I'll be with you. We are currently working towards getting my wife her bike. Thanks to you again and I'll be ordering merch soon (OLD NOT DEAD).

I did 14 inch on an FLHTK this spring. pulled my own wires, extened them, depinned and repinned plugs, NO new cables or hydrailic hoses, just reroute. about 8 hours for a backyard mechanic.

Love it, I did my own on the RGS in 14 Inch and had to re-route the clutch also, but no extra cables or hoses required despite the dealers wanting another 600 in parts and 1200 in labor to complete the task , took around 5 hours including cable run, quoted 8 hours. But im a novice spent an hour or so scratching my head. Thanks for pushing us to believe in ourselves :)

I put 18" apehangers on my Softail Custom, being 6'3" they suit me just fine, especially on long trips. Mind you, a long trip in the Highlands of Scotland is nothing compared to the distances you do in Oz! Crossing the Nullabor on a Harley is on my bucket list!

I have used Burleigh Bars for years. I put 16 inch onto my Road King, the wires were a bastard to get through but with the bars I got the Burleigh risers which are steel billet and have incredible grip. When the car pulled out on me and I hit it, the bars didn't move (normally they will collapse). When I got my new Road Glide I hated the factory bars. They were uncomfortable, too low and my hands were at a strange angle. Put on the 14 inch Burleigh Bars and I love it, again the wires were a pain in the arse but the end result is perfect for me.

A full of knowledge video Aymen. My weekend work was purchasing a waterproof jacket and pants, fitting a new mobile phone holder to the brake side, fitting a camera mount and trying to learn the intricacies of the Boom Box Audio system! A few more lessons needed for me, but it is all fun for a retiree!

I did mine on the Ultra Limited last winter and it was a breeze. I didn't get bars with the sharp bends for two reasons; first any pointy thing on my bike means a place my face is going to contact at some point and second, I strung the wires and it was a piece of cake with curled bars instead of sharp corners. I believe this was one of the easier jobs that I've ever done and nobody should ever pay somebody else to do it. In addition to the bars, I had to buy two extension wires and reroute the clutch cable.

Great video mate. Having pre-wired bars would make things a lot easier when changing the bars over!!!! I have heard doing it yourself is such a fun experience! Plenty of swearing included...and yes working on your bike is good for one's self confidence and sense of achievement. Ride safe mate 😎

I just read that HD is closing their Milwaukee Power Train plant on Capital drive. They must be moving it off shore to Brazil, China or elsewhere where the production is cheaper. (you know it won't be better but that has never been HD's goal).

l also purchased the same brand of handlebars for my street glide and was very happy with the quality, price and l also had no problems with the installation. As a matter of interest are you having any issues with looking through your mirrors with your arms in a higher position now.
Yes, lol I cant see a thing. I have drop down brackets coming in the mail and have attached some temp mirrors in the mean time
I changed mine to Burleigh Bars, did all the wiring, clutch cable and brake line. It’s very rewarding doing things like this on your bike. Awesome job mate, they look good. Was that Arthur’s seat you went up to? Those corners looked familiar…..

I have a sport glide and got the Burleigh bars as I had cheaper bars on another bike. I felt flex in the cheaper bars, and after watching Burleigh, they showed the quality of welds and I feel much more confident. As you “ride hard” and are very experienced, I will be curious how you find these more affordable bars in corners with flex and feeling like the will not snap in an accident or even bend in corners. Looking good though
There is no flex at all in these bars, they feel great

Do you have to open clutch housing in order to extend clutch cable ?
I didn't change the clutch cable, i just rerouted it a little to allow for the taller bars

The problem is, how are the doctors and lawyers in the States going to find the tools in their book cases. Oh, I get it, they have money. How are they going to get the bike to the dealer?
Nothing wrong with getting your dealer or local independent to fix your bike. I had many years where I had no time to spend in the garage and whilst THEY worked on my bike i was busy on my laptop making money. Each to their own.
I don't trust anyone working on my machines. It takes longer and is more frustrating to have to go back and convince them that they screwed up and then wait for them to fix it right. I am not going to pay someone to fix my stuff when I can do it. I have a garage full of tools and shop manuals for all of my vehicles. Besides, I have been wrenching since I was 13 and enjoy a job well done and say "yes, I did that". Btw, I am a network engineer by trade, not trying to save money, I have enough to outlast me. I may be old but not dead.
