I use paper clips for the single unit draw strings. They’re easy to hook on to the unit at the back and you can move them around to adjust the height too, no need for knots at all. :)

Thank you, Stefan! Paper clips are an awesome idea. I admit it, I've been trying to take the traditional route (not sure why) and am now working my way through the knots in John Tovey's book. It makes me feel more like a weaver of old, I think - although of course those clever folks were always looking for better ways to do things. And brightly-colored paper clips might really add pizzazz to the UC ;-)
