That '66 Alan Mann car is one of the all-time greats. Nothing sounds better than a full race 289 screaming down the straights. Mark seems like an awesome guy. He must have worked very hard to be able to amass that kind of collection.

Another awesome video! I've always loved how the European build cars compared to how we built cars. Most Americans like large, heavy cars with large powerful engines. Europeans like small, lightweight cars, with lighter engines.
Which won Le Mans in 1968 and 1969. And of course the GT40 Mk1s were built by Ford's AVO operation in England, run by John Wyer, with the 427 Mk2 cars using modified Mk1 chassis. I also believe that Eric Broadley who was taken on as a consultant to AVO wanted the GT40 to be made from Aluminium from day one but was over ruled by Ford.
@@barrycuda3769 Can't see that there would be much weight difference between aluminium and raceweight fibreglass for the body panels. However, making the main chassis structure from aluminium as on the Mann cars rather than steel as on the regular GT40 Mk1/2 would certainly have made a useful difference.
Over the years and car shows, its nice to have been able to see authentic GT40's and Shelby's.. i never got to sit in them 😢 Been inside a Gulfstream lV though😂
Yes it's true, nearly 60 years ago a 7 liter.GT 40 Ford and a swimming pool full of cash beat a 3.3 liter Ferrari and if you don't believe me there are 7 million videos to prove it.
Did the Alan Mann car have fuel bladders or fuel tanks, and is that what it had originally? I know some GT40 racecars had bladders to save on weight, although most replicas have tanks for added safety.
That's a masterpiece, yes it is Dennis, I just wish it sounded better, no ford gt has ever sounded anywhere near as good as the original, like its amazing they made such a good road car, but you just cant beat that original, like Doug Demiro put the 05 against the mark III from england and my reaction was like James May To Hammond with the speedboat and the daytona, get that scrap off the harbor lol just reversed and jesus that daytona was beautiful in that dark blue with Borrani wire wheels and the one consistant thing with the new ford gt every owner from Schmee 150 to tim allen tries to do a new exhaust to make it sound better and honestly I kinda look at it more like a Reborn Ford RS200/GT40 Hybrid, as they did make that GT70 back in the day to recapture the glory and to go into rally racing with it, which never panned out and I do wonder what this guy would make of the ford GT90, which is still around and at an odd museum in the middle of nowhere, and drivable of all things, hell they were planning on having it at jay lenos garage, but they just havent made the special tires yet lol and that was something else, like ford was expecting the bugatti Eb110 to be the standard at which all cars were judged with I think a quad cam turbo V12 which sadly didnt pan out considering how badly Marnello and saint agatha put pressure on the parts manufacturers to cut them off despite how good that car was and that was a proper supercar too, and silently backed by Ferrucio lamborghini himself too, hence the stupid doors all over again lol so instead they aimed it at the ferrari V8 as the car to beat about 10 years latter, although even then, ferrari wins on sound alone the 05 just sounds like a dull supercharged mustang, and that versus the base model 360 they were using, just never messured up, which is odd as you would think it would have been possible to make it sound like the last of the V8's from mad max, like source the motor from down there instead and THEN supercharge it and the worse part is, it was just the base they were messuring it against, imagine how good it would have been had they gotten a challenge stradale in instead
Mk1 is the best looking car for me. Naturally Mk2 got all glory but the back end is just too bulky for me. I wish Ford had a 351 Cleveland back in the day to use in this one. It would have given the 427's a run for their money.
I have s prototype 1999 Mustang Gt Convertible and I drive it that poor car sounds like its never been driven and that's sad. You need to exercise them. Some folks just want to have a ken doll collection and that's perfectly fine but at least buy one to enjoy!

My favorite car of all time! Well done Dennis!

I know the 427 GTs were uncatchable but that 289 GT would have been great at LeMans being lighter and better on fuel. Thanks for this Dennis.
Had the pleasure of meeting Mark at his Museum and viewed an amazing collection of rare muscle cars and racers. Fantastic!

As an S.F. Forty-Niners fan, I'm giving it two thumbs up for the red/gold/white livery.
There are faster cars, there are more expensive cars, but there is nothing sexier than the silhouette of the FORD GT.
Love those things , especially in the powder blue/ light orange livery

Ford should have put an all aluminum turbocharged Godzirra motor in that latest version.
I see 5W 50 goes in the crank case of the six-cylinder eco-boost on that 22’. Maybe I should give it a try in my old six cylinder 4.0 ;)
Fantastic!

nice version but the aluminum panels are much more expensive and hard to fix, I guess there is not problem if the budget can support it.
