Here's a fun story, So my mom is a bit conservative and usually judges people based on their looks. One Sunday we were at the mall shopping and i spot a friend of mine, I greet him, have some small talk and go our sperate ways, then my mom walks up to me and says that why am i friends with him and is quite judgmental about my friend and thinks he's an Ex-con cause he has sleeve tats on both arms, she also says "do you want to be like that person?" and then i just laughed and said yes... Clearly confused my mom asks why, and i simply answer "Because he's a cardiovascular surgeon and he makes the same amount of money i make in a month in just a week of work" The lesson here kiddos, is to never judge a book by it's cover...
i’m so blind idk if i’ll be able to do surgery by the time i get to med school. my doctor says that my eyesight is getting worse. i might have to get bifocals 🤧🤧🤧
When Dr. Mike said “you don’t want to see it “ referring to his teenage pictures I was like hmm whatever. Then he showed the pictures and I was like .... he was right.
The “waking up during anesthesia “ question terrifies me so much and it’s because I have been through something like this TWICE!! I’ve had more than 15 surgeries since I was 11 years old, I am now 39. When I was having surgery on my foot I was told that I would be put into a “twilight sleep” and I wouldn’t remember anything from the surgery, that It wouldn’t be any different than the surgeries I’d had prior to that one where I was completely asleep as far as knowing what had happened during it. Well, I’m not sure where at in the process of removing a piece of my metatarsal they were but I became aware of sounds and even smells for a small period of time. I couldn’t see or feel anything, thank god, but I started to hear the voices of the surgeon and nurses and then the very loud sounds of the bone saw. In my head I’m thinking I am just dreaming or they’re not actually working on me because I didn’t feel anything but then I started to smell a horrible burning smell and a smell of what I assume was the bone because it’s a smell I didn’t recognize but it was going on at the same time as the sawing sounds. It may have been something else but that’s just what I always attributed it to. It didn’t last more than a minute and I don’t remember anything else from that time but When I woke up after the surgery was over i mentioned it to my dr and she just kinda laughed and said “oh yeah, we got it under control “! The 2nd time this happened was so much worse and I actually am kicking myself to not doing something about it because it was extremely disturbing! I was in a much more aggressive surgery for an ovarian mass that was so big it had began pressing down on the tube that goes from the kidney to the bladder causing my kidney to become extremely backed up and enlarged to twice it’s size. In this surgery I was put completely under and I had 2 different doctor’s performing surgery on me. 1 doctor was a urologist that put kidney stents in and then the gynecologist was removing the mass and either taking a biopsy of my uterus or removing it if she felt it was necessary, which she did. Well I clearly remember a mans voice but again I couldn’t see anything, I could just hear them so I’m guessing I was just starting to come out. This was the urologist because my obgyn was a female. I heard this man laughing and making some really disgusting and inappropriate comments about my body and my genitalia. I listened as he made disgusting comments to others in the room who I either didn’t hear or who just weren’t saying anything back but I remember him saying “umm do you see that” and then I must have went back to sleep or they realized I was waking up, I’m not sure but I don’t remember anything else. When I was woke up this time I was so emotional and so upset but I didn’t say anything because I was so humiliated and too embarrassed to tell the nurses or even my husband. This is actually the 1st time I’ve told anyone about this because it was so humiliating. I just wish I’d have stood up and said something because that was almost 8 years ago now and I’m sure I probably am out of time to do something about it now. My daughters best friends mom had this same thing happen to her in the same hospital a few years ago but with a different doctor and she sued them and won her case. Maybe if I’d have stood up I could have helped prevent someone else from going through that same trauma I suffered from.
Local anesthesia is only 50% effective at reducing pain of child genital mutilation. 55% of children today still receive no anesthesia at all. I WENT THROUGH A MUTILATION WITH NO ANESTHESIA BY THESE PSYCHO QUACKS
I'm pretty sure the Twilight Sleep anesthesia has been called one of the top medical horror stories, especially in the 60s and 70s. It was done a lot and usually ended pretty poorly. Sadly it's also dirt cheap so that some hospitals still use them to minimize costs. But serious doctors haven't been using those since the horror stories of the 70s.
Many people who have Ehlers Danlos Syndromes have problems with being awake, And feeling pain, the entire surgery! From the first incision to the last suture. Doctors don't generally believe this could happen, but I know many of my EDS allies have had this happen. Pain like a #20!
I've had this happen under a general too only it was very painful, I could hear but couldn't move to let them know. Twilight doesn't work at all on my I was screaming and crying the whole way through, it was really hard to keep still while they were cutting parts out of my cervix. They also told me I wouldn't remember it but I still live with the trauma. I was supposed to get it rechecked but never did due to the fear of treatment. When I had my last child my gynaecologist asked if I'd had surgery there as apparently the scarring was so bad he actually said it looked like a butcher did it. It was probably worse as I couldn't keep from squirming, but at the time they just yelled at me for moving while trying to administer more sedation, it didn't work at all and I will never forget it even though I was also told I wouldn't remember it. I've had other generals since and always tell them of the first experience I had and thankfully they have all gone smoothly since, but I've refused all twilight since and will never do that again. I feel for you as it's trauma that lasts a lifetime and makes you scared to seek future medical treatment. I had the beginning of cancer when I had the removal and am too scared to follow it up even over 20yrs later.
A nurse with tattoos and piercings helped calm me down when I was anxious about getting blood taken! He held my hand and showed me his tattoos to distract me. He said if I could get a blood test then I’d be completely fine getting tattoos one day. I’ll never forget him. His tattoos are beautiful and he was so patient and caring 🥺 ALSO I was like 7 years old lol I’m fine with needles now 🤣
omg, this! I work in a primary care office, and the kiddos love our one nurse with tattoos! and she has silly ones like christmas trees and flowers. she gets them to count the petals on the flowers or the lights on the christmas tree when they're scared, or tell her what the colors are.
I know I’m super late to this, but 3 things to keep in mind when seeing a psychologist (or any mental health person) 1. I know you feel awkward at the start, but just like he said, it takes time to build up your relationship with them but it’ll be worth it 2. Tell them everything that you feel comfortable with. They can’t read your mind and figure out how to help you if you don’t provide enough details 3. It’s not always going to work out the first time (as in either the doctor, or treatment), but hang in there because you’ll find one if you keep your hopes up. This is coming from a person who’s had multiple psychologists with many mental health issues (even a processing and receipting disorder). It took 5 tries to find the right psychologist for me, but I found one that I love and trust.
I agree not jumping to diagnosis, but for so many years my symptoms were ignored or overlooked. When I was finally diagnosed and given treatment for ADHD and Post-Concussive Disorder, I could actually focus and separate my thoughts for the first time in my life. It was literally life changing and instead of keeping from achieving or attempting my goals, it actually made them feel achievable. I have my MLT certification (AAS) and now pursuing my Bachelors of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS). I will be about 50 when I complete it, but would have been near impossible without diagnosis and medication.
I have rolling veins. I have a huge fear of veins and needles going into my veins. Blood draws make me sick and are my nightmares. One time I had a phlebotomist with a beautiful cardinal tattoo on her wrist. I told her how nervous I was about getting blood drawn and she was really calm and relaxing, which I appreciate so much. She tried talking to me while preparing her vampire tools but it just wasn't working for me. I asked about her cardinal tattoo and she talked about how it was dedicated to her parents the whole time she was taking my blood and I stared at the tattoo through everything. It was a gorgeous, sentimental tattoo. I just thought I'd share a positive experience with a medical profession with a tattoo since there is a stigma around it. I'll always remember her and I think of her every time I see a cardinal.
@@vujcichh rolling veins are veins that move away whenever they're touched. So when a doctor feels around for a good vein to use, they keep rolling around
I can attest to the wearing glasses thing. I always thought my vision was fine, until I jokingly put on my friend's glasses and was amazed at the clarity I could now see in. When my Mom took us to the eye doctor (optometrist?), I discovered that I had perfectly near-sighted vision, but stuff far away looks like a blurry picture from a bad camera. Now I wear my glasses for driving and for a lot of my work as well.
"If you need surgery to live, would you want the doctor to have tattoos?" Frankly, I don't care if they have tattoos as long as they have the appropriate medical degree.
I woke up during a laparoscopic surgery in 2000, and I remembered it afterward too. The nurse was possibly even more upset than I was, just apologized repeatedly and went out of her way to make sure I was okay. I remember thinking I was choking or suffocating, briefly, and fighting. She said it was a breathing tube I was feeling and not comprehending, which makes sense. I now know to tell all my doctors and potential surgeons about this so they know to knock me out extra hard.
That happened to me also while I was having my first foot surgery. I woke up and they two podiatrists were still working on my foot that was wide open with retractors. They gave me a "Big Mac" as they called it during my second foot surgery. Big Mac meaning that the anesthetic was stronger.
Concussions can be life shattering. I'm still struggling every day to feel whole. To be a real person again. Three years later, and still I'm struggling to live a normal life again. To feel normal, to not have the haze and loss of myself. It took everything away from me.. People don't understand because they can't see the injury. I was living my childhood dreams and now I can't even approach them any more. The man I was, is gone. Lost in the accident, and finding myself again is a never ending uphill battle. Catastrophic brain injuries are extraordinarily life shattering. And I hope nobody has to go through the agony this has caused me.
It is a different state of consciousness where you are more sugestionable (to face fears or traumatic experiences, feel less pain, relax, etc.) The effectiveness of this therapy depends on the ability of the person that is being treated and not that much from the therapist. (Stage hypnosis is just a show, and no one should claim to have hypnotic 'powers' for entertainment purposes) makes people have the wrong idea about the term I am a student of psychology btw:)
I'm 15 and I can get easily forgetful... sometimes when I want to do stuff, the next minute, I forget what I want to do... do I need to be concern about this?
@@justabout6979 It decreases at least heh, you're just in that age that everything and anything just occupies your brain on daily basis. You gonna be fine mate! You can also be a bit of adhd or not just focusing too much on your thoughts. Stress can also mess with one's memory. I really wouldn't worry about it unless it gets too controllive. In that scenario I would check myself to a doctor for a nice chat time :)
It gets better I think :) I was very forgetful and I have bad memory in general, but I think it has gotten better with time. I don't lose as many things and I remember tasks and deadlines a lot more often :) it will not stop you from being successful! Good luck!
I actually had a paradoxical reaction to anesthesia during my surgery to remove my wisdom teeth. They were coming in completely sideways, natural braces 😂 but when I woke up, I was strapped to the table. Strap across my forehead, both arms, waist and legs. They were supposed to remove all 4 in 30 minutes. They only removed 2 in a little over an hour. I don't remember anything. But apparently from what I was told, my body was reacting to everything happening. I was screaming, apparently scared a kid in the waiting room. 🤦🏼♀️😂 And was physically reacting, trying to fight the doctor/dentist. Hence the straps. I ended up with a black eye and my face swollen 2-3 times it's normal size. And couldn't eat solid foods for 2-3 weeks. Especially the first week it was basically, sleep, wake up to tinkle 😂 take more pain meds, have a snow cone(all I could physically and mentally stomach) and back to sleep and repeat. Needless to say I went to a different dentist to remove the other 2 😂
I woke up during surgery... I was 11 and broke my nose and had to have surgery to fix it. I wasn't cut open, the doctor just inserted a tool in my nostril to put the bone back in place. At a certain point I remember I woke up and saw all the doctors and nurses just shoked, then a nurse came in from another room, she had gloves to her elbows covered in blood and started screaming "WHAT'S GOING ON" then I blanked.😂 Apparently I was screaming the wole time, but I don't remember it and also I didn't felt any pain... I just remember it as a funny story!
I grew up in a small town on the Washington State Coast. The one and only surgery I have ever had was "day surgery" for carpal tunnel due to the kind of work I did at the time. Well, my surgeon was absolutely fantastic. I have zero scars on either wrist. He's well respected in the area and is known as the "hand expert" because he often does hand surgery but is an orthopedic surgeon and can do any type that is needed. When I got my first wrist done, I was not completely "out" under general anesthesia. I heard the surgeon talking to his staff during the surgery about the next case that was coming after me. Turns out it is a girl I know (I know her whole family, actually) who messed up her ankle really bad after falling down stairs. Pretty sure I wasn't supposed to hear all of that, LOL. The second wrist he knocked me completely out. I don't remember ANYTHING until I woke up. 😂
I've had two cases where I've still felt pain through local anesthetic. Once with something at the dentist and once with having an ingrown toenail removed. So I guess I probably have some resistance to it. Either that or it was nocebo (placebo but the effect is pain).
I almost woke up during surgery once. I was around 8 or 9 and I had broken my elbow. But a piece of the bone had moved to another place in my arm so I had to have surgery. Something went wrong and it took al lot longer than planned. When they saw that the anesthesia was wearing off, they just gave me some more. I don't remember if I really regained consciousness but that's what the doctors said to me.
I'm not a teen, but as a person dyagnosed with POS, birth control has been a life saver. Not only to regulate periods, but more importantly, the reduction in the amount of pain and how long it lasted. Best medical decision I've ever made.
I just want to say that I really appreciate how logically and scientifically based your opinions and responses are. I know it seems obvious that a doctor would respond that way, but it's just not always the case. Thank you for respecting science 🖤
Hiya! Random person here lol. My sister experiences a LOT of sleep paralysis Its preventable if you have a good sleep schedual or are mentally stable to a certain degree . Theres 2 ways to get out of it if your experiencing it. 1- move one joint on your finger slowly, then work your way up to the next joint and the next until you move your arm and wrist Eventually after that your brain will realis your away and allow you to get up, breaking out of it. 2- the only other way unless you have a friend wake you on accident. Is to go back to sleep. Sleep paralysis seems scary, but its actually you being awake and your brain thinking your still asleep. So once you become scared when you cant move It induces fear and fear induces nightmares. Thats why you see something scarywhen experiencing it. Soo if you manage to calm yourself or go back to bed, youll be able to escape the scary situation. I hope this helps with your problem ^^`
@@RockyRoad7 np! I hope you can get rid of your sleep paralysis. Ive gotten it a few times and it is super scary. I hate seeing others have it cause its hard to find doctora or psychiatrists who believe it happens 😢 swear they shoyld find a better term for it and do more research on it. Itd be so beneficial to all the people who experience it

He's 28/29 and I am 27. Most people don't follow their dreams, especially for being a Doctor. He really committed to it and I find that amazing. Not only the questions he answers, nor because he helps people. I find it remarkle how he has come a long way in life already and he's still so young. I'm flabbergasted.
Yeah... I haven't even gotten my bachelor's yet (though I have 2 associate's) and he's only a few years older than I... Yet he's been through med school and graduated!
@@InfoInsider23 Birth control doesn't cause weight gain, it can cause appetite increase. So if you're not paying attention, you wind up eating more than you usually do and gain weight.
I'd also like to add to the therapist answer, if you talk to someone you don't feel comfortable with, find someone else. I have gone to therapists that I didn't feel a connection with, so I found someone else that I did connect with. That's important.
Why is it that I find it easier to talk to a stranger about my problems (mental), yet I can not tell my family, or people who are directly related to me? Btw love your videos
I think a lot of the cases arise from people lying about history to their doctor. If you are a user of opioids (heroin) or stimulates (cocaine) and you don't tell your doctor before surgery the anesthesia could wear off sooner/ not be as effective I believe because tolerance. It can just have a different physiological effects. It doesn't matter if you do illegal drugs, you need to tell your doctor, they can't turn you into the police. But if you're a drug seeker you'll just out yourself lmao. As long as you are healthy and don't lie you'll be fine *Not YOU, obviously. But you as in general
Actually I saw a man waking up in the middle of the surgery with his intestines outside, and I swear that is truly scary when he just moves and you weren't aware that he was awake.
The best surgeon I ever had has a full body suit he got done in Japan and it's amazing. I have tattoos so we started chatting and he showed me pics. It made me a lot more comfortable with him.
I woke up during, my hip surgery, I remember the sensation. I remember saying "ow". All I heard after that was "oh $h¡+" And then things clattering then going back out
My mother was completely awake the whole time in her surgery for appendicitis. Her doctors was shocked my mother suddenly spoke to them and they decided not to add more anesthesia so then my mother was able to had conversations with them throughout the surgery 😅 even still remember till now what they’ve been talking about. The glad thing was she didn’t feel any pain.

I work in an ER and I've tried asking about this from a few doctors and nurses. So far, none of them even knew about it. I've had like a dozen of them and I know they are real.
I got you! I'm a Polysomnographic Technician (sleep tech). Sleep paralysis is a feeling of being conscious but unable to move. It occurs when a person passes between stages of wakefulness and sleep. During these transitions, you may be unable to move or speak for a few seconds up to a few minutes. Some people may also feel pressure or a sense of choking.
Your brain releases certain chemicals while you sleep so that while you dream you don’t walk around and injure yourself sleep paralysis is just when you wake up but your brain is still pumping out those chemicals not letting you move it can seem like it just goes away all at once because your brain realizes that your awake and stops producing it the opposite is also true for people who sleepwalk they don’t produce enough so they walk around while asleep the reason they don’t bump into stuff is because of muscle memory same logic behind walking around the house with your eyes closed you still remember where everything is so you don’t hit anything due to seeing it so many times
Archana Danappa More than likely you're having some sort of sleep disturbance (hypopneas, apnea, RLS) to cause you to come out of deep sleep. They happen all the time.
I’ll definitely say I’m not a physician (yet) but when I started working in healthcare I was worried about my tattoos/piercings and buzzed hair (as an afab person) causing the occasional patient issues. A year in to patient care and it has effectively never happened. The old ladies I thought would be scared actually are the ones complimenting my (lack of) hair. I’m 100x more concerned about random contract hr issues than patients. It’s definitely got a risk to it but I’ve met with such overwhelmingly positive conversation starters with both staff and patients that I no longer worry about my body mods and hair (within practical reason if course. No one likes getting their piercings yanked or the infection risk of new mods). I think med schools especially forget that physicians and hospitals serve people, and while a minority might be concerned with old school appearances and professionalism, the vast majority actually appreciate knowing someone is more like them. It’s afforded me a lot of funny and very frank conversations about patient lifestyle. Turns out if you say you’ve also lived a couple months out of your car, people are more willing to resignedly chuckle and share the truth of their experience. The closer you get to the emergent side of medicine rather than the elective, the more people tend to appreciate honesty and personable conversation. Everyone knows we are in a bad situation here, as long as I have been attentive and eager to listen I’ve never had a patient look at, let alone question, my tattoos or piercings (taken out during shift). Literally (nearly) no one cares as long as you take their health seriously. Glad to be a part of that shift in urban medical centers.
Mutilation isnt medicine and this.quack I promise you can't answer basic questions about male genital anatomy. If he could he was just promoting child abuse for profit. Only in Amerika is this called medicine 🦆🦆🦆🦆

About doctors with tattoos: there's another side to that doctor-patient relationship for patients who have tattoos themselves! It might be heartening to have a doctor who also has tattoos in visible places, I know I would feel validation seeing that
Hey, thank you for that!! I'm a recently graduated doctor and I have a recent tattoo on my wrist. Feels good to hear stuff like that, I'm always a bit concerned about it. But I know it's my body and it was my decision to do it, so it doesn't matter if others don't like it. But thanks for the positivity!! 🥰
One time at an ice skating ring, there was an organized game that was basically soccer with regular shoes on ice. I slipped and landed head first, actually blacked out until I felt someone pat my shoulders to get my attention, and could barely walk. Every time someone mentions concussions I think about this- I can't even remember most of what happened, just specific sights and sensations. Painfully cold ice, vision spotted and blurry with people surrounding me, how nauseating and dizzying it was to stand- I'll have to find your video on concussions after this! They're something I want to know more about after that incident.
I mean I'm sure it depends on the type of tattoo, someone who has sleeves with various dark/inappropriate imagery is different from someone with a small symbolic image
Dr Mike, I heard a statistic that 80% of prisoners have undiagnosed eyesight and learning problems and this is why at school they were categorised as ‘the naughty kids’ because they were using a distraction technique to be the ‘bad kid’ not the ‘dumb kid’. Do you think it should be a bigger focus of schools to have eyesight tests along with the basic health checks?
I'm not sure whether they still do this, but I had free eye tests and access to free assessment for hearing impairment and learning disabilities through my public primary school, here in Australia, as well as my primary school in England before that (back in the 90s). A bunch of my friends got glasses through that program and 3 were diagnosed with learning issues (dyslexia and ADD). It helped a lot of kids, even just at the schools I attended and I firmly believe all kids should have access to eyesight, hearing and learning disability assessments.
Wow thats an interesting statistic. I can relate to this since my first 4 years of school I had no idea what was going on and did horribly. Then later on we came to the US and my school had free exams and it turned out i need glasses. All my academic issues came from not being able to see.
Well of violent offenders, something like 15% are psychopaths/sociopaths.. Which as kids is often diagnosed as oppositional defiant disorder rather than antisocial personality disorder (usually only diagnosed after 18).. Imagine that’s a big reason they were “naughty kids..” Prolly common precipitating factors for criminality and truancy/not doing well in school.. (broken family, alcoholism, drug use, abuse..) I’d look at those factors way before eyesight. I needed glasses for 2 years in HS before I convinced my parents.. I was also valedictorian..
Keep in mind, tattoos can also provide a common experience or interest with many patients and help break down inherent fears of medical procedures and exams. I'm a FF/P, not a doctor, but I and most of my peers have tattoos and generally see them as a positive in the community we serve. Love your channel, thanks as always!
As an senior with chronic pain issues, I use iPhone/iPad to play games as they help me deal with pain (enough I have gone down to half dose during day, only needing full dose before bed and on waking up about 6 hours later). According to my daily readout I do about 6 hours of audiobooks/music and 6-8 hours of games (there is some overlap as I play my music with some games & if I need a nap). So I would say it’s how they are using it: too much Facebook, endless videos on UA-cam especially going down rabbits holes, TikTok for those with little ability to tell good info from junk, so on…
When you wake up during surgery its called anestisia awareness. You can literally feel everything. Its when they give you more of one part if the anestisia than another!
And also, there are signs to being aware during anesthesia, your heart starts racing in response to pain from adrenaline being released, so an anesthesiologist can see that your body is in pain and give (su)fentanyl or other opioids, and/or modify the inspiratory sevo percentage.
My son had a botched circumcision and had to have a circumcision revision at age 7 (broke my heart to do that to him at 7). But the dr reassured us that the benefits outweighed the risks. He was always getting gunk stuck up in the skin no matter how often we washed it. It was all always red and swollen. So the revision was most certainly needed.

LOOOOOOOOOOOONG message
His tattoos are beautiful and he was so patient and caring 🥺
ALSO I was like 7 years old lol I’m fine with needles now 🤣
omg, this! I work in a primary care office, and the kiddos love our one nurse with tattoos! and she has silly ones like christmas trees and flowers. she gets them to count the petals on the flowers or the lights on the christmas tree when they're scared, or tell her what the colors are.

I know I’m super late to this, but 3 things to keep in mind when seeing a psychologist (or any mental health person)
1. I know you feel awkward at the start, but just like he said, it takes time to build up your relationship with them but it’ll be worth it
2. Tell them everything that you feel comfortable with. They can’t read your mind and figure out how to help you if you don’t provide enough details

How does hypnosis work and is it beneficial in any way?
It is a different state of consciousness where you are more sugestionable (to face fears or traumatic experiences, feel less pain, relax, etc.) The effectiveness of this therapy depends on the ability of the person that is being treated and not that much from the therapist.
(Stage hypnosis is just a show, and no one should claim to have hypnotic 'powers' for entertainment purposes) makes people have the wrong idea about the term

Needless to say I went to a different dentist to remove the other 2 😂
How do you feel about the dramatic increase of electronic cigarettes in the youth?
xPandaVault he did a video on that
I woke up during surgery...
Shut...
I should get my nose fixed, too but I‘m way too scared. That story didn‘t help. 😅

I get sleep paralysis and it’s really scary. Can you explain more about why this happens and if it’s preventable
Hiya! Random person here lol.
My sister experiences a LOT of sleep paralysis
Its preventable if you have a good sleep schedual or are mentally stable to a certain degree .
Theres 2 ways to get out of it if your experiencing it.
1- move one joint on your finger slowly, then work your way up to the next joint and the next until you move your arm and wrist
Eventually after that your brain will realis your away and allow you to get up, breaking out of it.
2- the only other way unless you have a friend wake you on accident.
Is to go back to sleep. Sleep paralysis seems scary, but its actually you being awake and your brain thinking your still asleep. So once you become scared when you cant move
It induces fear and fear induces nightmares. Thats why you see something scarywhen experiencing it. Soo if you manage to calm yourself or go back to bed, youll be able to escape the scary situation. I hope this helps with your problem ^^`

I mostly always am sleep paralyzed particularly when I'm having a nightmare, is there any actual scientific reason to it? Or is it just random?
Archana Danappa More than likely you're having some sort of sleep disturbance (hypopneas, apnea, RLS) to cause you to come out of deep sleep. They happen all the time.
“2 DAYS ago, I had a mild concussion for like 3 DAYS
That doesn't make sense.
Samantha Peters that is the point
Maybe it ended 2 days ago and it was 3 days long

Nvm, was high.
Me reads the title: "Should Doctors Have Tattoos?"
Me immediately thinks: "How does a tattoo correlate with doctor's knowledge and healing skills?"
It doesn't. But like he said, in some cases, it serves as a barrier for Doctor-patient interaction.
@@cyroshard1909 , you're right, but it's only a barrier because people assume things about people with tattoos.
@@chrismain7472 Yes. It SHOULDN'T be an issue but it is. That's why it isn't advisable for doctors to have them.
I mean I'm sure it depends on the type of tattoo, someone who has sleeves with various dark/inappropriate imagery is different from someone with a small symbolic image
Usually elders and religious people have issues with tattoos
Source: I have tattoos on my knuckles, older people look at me funny and scoff at me
Dr Mike, I heard a statistic that 80% of prisoners have undiagnosed eyesight and learning problems and this is why at school they were categorised as ‘the naughty kids’ because they were using a distraction technique to be the ‘bad kid’ not the ‘dumb kid’. Do you think it should be a bigger focus of schools to have eyesight tests along with the basic health checks?
My elementary schools gave us an eye and hearing test every year.
P. H that happened to my little brother; he changed his grades and some behavioral issues once he got glasses.
So I would say it’s how they are using it: too much Facebook, endless videos on UA-cam especially going down rabbits holes, TikTok for those with little ability to tell good info from junk, so on…
I actually request a collab with Markiplier...
Because of his medical history...

When you wake up during surgery its called anestisia awareness. You can literally feel everything. Its when they give you more of one part if the anestisia than another!
Brooklyn DuBritton that is why MAC exists and why you give a balanced Anesthesia. Both sevoflurane and opioids.
And also, there are signs to being aware during anesthesia, your heart starts racing in response to pain from adrenaline being released, so an anesthesiologist can see that your body is in pain and give (su)fentanyl or other opioids, and/or modify the inspiratory sevo percentage.

Can a colorblind person be a doctor?
I’m trying to be a Surgeon but I’m also colorblind
I don’t see why not, maybe just a little more effort when it comes to anatomy
Research that question go to websites or go to a medical board website and see if they allow it
I am colorblind and would like to be a doctor too.
I’m in med school and there’s several colorblind people I go to class with. One guy is almost fully colorblind, it’s not a problem.
It could be bad for diferential diagnosis...good luck 😊
My son had a botched circumcision and had to have a circumcision revision at age 7 (broke my heart to do that to him at 7). But the dr reassured us that the benefits outweighed the risks. He was always getting gunk stuck up in the skin no matter how often we washed it. It was all always red and swollen. So the revision was most certainly needed.
