Thank you I need all the help I can get. I'm a 65 year old female, I don't have no one to help me tonight, for a large area, which we are getting 6 to 10 inches of snow in Markesan, Wisconsin. This will help, as 2 days ago I did need to shovel the snow at 2 in the morning, and clear off 2 vehicles.. Love showing you on UA-cam great ideas, great help and you guys are funny. Thank you
Thanks Bob and Brad for this suggestion to make ourselves an ergonomic snow shovel. We made one with an old taekwondo belt and found it works very well. Thanks again.
Not bad. It's very simple, so it's easy to recreate. But I'm not sure if such an upgraded snow shovel would still be comfortable to use, since the handle is no longer as stiff as the original wooden one. But it's worth a try. I use pretty much the same shovel, but instead of bending over a lot, I walk with it more. Just pushing the snow with her and my body weight from side to side. And if it is some kind of first pass or a dead end, then only there I raise the snow. So now it's more about walking with a straight back pushing the snow instead of bending over and picking it up. It may take a little longer to clear the snow, but it is MUCH easier and safer.
Yes! Will definitely give it shot :) 🎶🎵Let it snow! Let it Snow🎶🎵 Looking forward to it!😆 You guys are doing wonderful job. As always very helpful video! Thank you!!
I’m going to try this. Before I saw the last minute of the vid, I thought it looked a little awkward, but seeing you do it, it looks easy :) Thanks for sharing all your tips and making me laugh. You guys are great!
I pulled a muscle in my lower back, looking forward to your next video about the warmups. I found a video that helped me a little called - How to Fix “Low Back” Pain (INSTANTLY!)
Great video great attitude they're going to water line this morning found you guys from an old rancher in Kansas 39 years old didn't catch this video 20 years ago
Can you please tell how long (total) of a length of webbing you used and how wide? At what length did you sew(?) the intervals? How did you sew(?) themor where did you get them done? Thanks.
The key statements you guys made is if you plow early and often, you are less likely to strain your back. Avoid heavy snow accumulation and get on it early or pay the price to hire a professional.
you might not have much snow in minnesota but I have enough here in wisconsin-Are you in the twin cities- I;m about 1 hour away- sick of the cold- thank you M
I would like some advice on a knee injury. My knee seems to lock up and give out every once and a while the doctor said it was just a bone bruise but my knee keeps locking up and giving out it has happened 3 times. I am convinced it is a meniscus tear but the MRI showed nothing I tried your exercises to see if I tore a meniscus and all of them test positive for a tear. Any ideas why it didn’t show up on the MRI or what the heck is happening, Thanks I would appreciate some feedback
There are also better shovels with bent handles which help a lot for shoveling. They make it much easier to move snow and I have used them for over a decade in Manitoba where we do get lots of snow once and a while.
I also use the True Temper Snow Boss which has a curved handle design but one can also attach and utilize the stretch out looping strap idea to further enhance and customize ones own particular muscle lifting adjustable ergonomic muscle lifting efficiency; this will allow it to work with more potential people who might actually try using this ergonomic tip effectively and successfully also as well.
When you mentioned HEART ATTACKS it reminded me of something very interesting. Apparently Cayenne Pepper can stop a heart attack or even help in preventing them - worth researching. I enjoy your videos, thank you gentlemen.
this idea would translate well in the garden with either the shoveling of either heavy moist top soil or even heavy gravel that would increase one potential effectiveness many times over without a doubt!!!
I just found your channel and I love all the information you give out. I don't understand why you have Green Bay stuff in your office if you are in MN, that's a sin around here.
Yes some of those snow shovels have not only the shorter handle problem which forces one to stoop down and then lift with ones back and spine in exactly the wrong manner; one can really torque ones back if one is handling a massive wet snow load shovelful also as well; its better in that particular circumstance to add and hose clamp on an extension one inch thick width wooden rounded dowel to ones short snow shovel shaft and then employ using the hose clamp and nylon stretch out strap idea also as well; that way one will be able to effectively keep ones back and spine completely straight and fully relaxed because one has effectively lengthened and extended one snow shovel shaft to a more fuller longer length snow shovel shaft with a regular D-handle on the end; one can even use alternatively instead of the regular D-handle on the end even use also an alternatively appropriately placed hose clamp further above the first lower hose clamp that would allow one to be able to make a very ergonomically adjustable, comfortable and effective nylon snow sling adjustable stretch out strap also as well; that would actually assist one in more effectively slinging and sliding ones snow load off of ones snow shovel by simply being able to have that second nylon stretch out strap with the pre- stitched holes to be able to put ones hand and wrist through them without stressing and/or straining ones muscles at all. that would allow on the most potential prolonged muscle snow lifting comfort thus delaying the onset of the delayed onset of muscle soreness(DOMS)!!!
Physical Therapy Stretch Out Straps; they have plenty of them to pick from for potential purchase on amazon that are quite nice and inexpensive; about fifteen dollars for a decent one that has at least ten stitched nylon loops spaced at regular spaced intervals; hard to go wrong for the value in invested dollars to be able to actually be able to transform ones rather ordinary snow shovel into a very handy highly customizable ergonomic one that will allow one to turn ones rather arduous and tedius snow removal task into one that could be considered more along the lines of a highly effective physical conditioning workout; by effectively simply changing the mechanical lever arm physics of altering ones human custom adjustable strapping snow shovel tool.
maybe its the snow, maybe its our genius, but there is a shovel that's bent specifically for large snow falls and has the same angle as where you are grabbing the rope. Canadian.
The simple beauty of using the equally simple common ordinary stretch out straps with the built in stitched looping holes is it will work on even the ergonomic designed shoves you are talking about; it will enable one to not only lift larger snow loads with less effort and higher efficiency but it will also enable one to potentially throw any snow loads much further away with much less effort also as well; thereby not only enhancing ones ergonomic efficiency effectiveness of even ones particular ergonomic designed shovel but allowing one to remove much more snow in a much shorter amount of time and also with even more reduced muscle strain due being able to not torsion twist ones lifting and snow throwing muscles nearly as much;
Looks like a bicep strain or tear waiting to happen. A shovel can be used with minimal back bending with proper techniques using the legs, leverage and momentum
@@FreshTopEnd A: that is their demographic B: long term abuse of any joint or muscle will catch up to anyone, eventually no matter how strong they think they are.
All I can say is you are from Los Angeles or you realize that you just transferred your back issues to your wrist and forearm which will turn into elbow and shoulder problems% If you are smart you will remove this video.
The fundamental key here is not to load up with very much snow in ones snow shovel but only take a partial snow load; that way one does not have to overly apply stress and strain on ones potential wrist and forearm muscles; using the straps one inherently will use more of ones leg muscles to do the actual lifting and also use much less the wrist and forearm muscles over time; also one can adjust ones hand hold position up or down by putting ones hand and/or wrist through the built-in stitching holes thereby lessening any potential muscle strain that may be applied to ones wrist and/or forearm muscles also as well; a very nice simple and very adjustable custom ergonomic enhancing system that is very easy to learn how to utilize efficiently in ones normal daily snow removal routine task that one may be required to do after a snowstorm.
It's just as a result of applying simple mechanical lever arm physics and some very simple application of using a rather ordinary physical therapy stretch out straps that happen to have the stitched loop holes placed at regular distance intervals to allow one to pick ones most appropriate, comfortable and effective hand hold position to be able to reduce any potential muscle strain from shoveling, lifting and/or throwing even heavy snow loads!!!
I saw another video showing this technique, but not how to attach the "string." Glad i found your video. Thanks.
Absolutely great idea!! Come to my house, Brad! lol. Love you guys..Thanks

If only I'd seen this *before* I shoveled today and pulled my lower back. 🤦♀️ looking for the lower back strain video now! Lol. Love your channel!
Not so fast! Not their idea! ua-cam.com/video/LQkGfqmD8Fc/v-deo.html
Not worried about where it originated, and their explanation of the mechanics is helpful. Thanks though.

Great idea! But I’ve been using a child’s size shovel for the past several years. Takes longer, but I never hurt after.
Oh my gosh that even sounds painful just hearing and even potentially visualizing that in my mind; ouch and uggh!!!

Easy and smart ways.
Clever! I grew up in Alaska, and I've never seen that trick, good to know!
I will put that idea to good use in the next Snowzilla snow storm that inevitably comes at least once every winter without warning.
I live in Florida but I enjoyed this video :-))
Great info, thanks!

Where can I buy one of those straps. Thanks
I like that stretch out strap with the sewed in loops, BUT where can I find it on your Amazon Preferred Page?

What are the pros and cons of adjustable beds, especially for the spine?
Loraine Spencer good question! I'd like to know myself their thoughts.
Good one chaps....any thoughts on whether this technique might aid in digging the garden. (Other than getting Brad to do it).

This would be great for UK shovellers- shorter handles on the spades/shovels than US! Don't know why!

honest question - how do you till a garden without wrecking yoiur back

Modern shovels are made to hurt you. I grew up with smaller, flatter, metal shovels that were a lot easier to use. But this is a great idea.
I wanna see these guys tell me how to do everything.
Ingenious indeed!

Or you could salt the driveway. It's lasso not lassue. Cool invention. We could use that to shovel dirt, too.
We "lassoo" things in Minnesota. Not sure where you're from.
