I've been listening the past few days and I'm floored by how such a good podcast could possibly only have 2.51K subscribers. This should be elevated at least a couple hundred thousand views.
I would have said the new world started with the invention (in holland?) of the share based limited corporation. This is closely connected with borrowing at interest. And the companies *benefitted* from such borrowing at interest.
I've listened to these economy episodes a couple times each. I've struggled a lot with finding the right way to look at finances, money, jobs, etc. Newly orthodox as well so leaving behind protestant Dave Ramsey style finance lessons. Do you have recommendations for further reading or listening?
On the wealth distribution point sounding “communist”: what it truly is is “distributism,” which is an economic theory championed by the likes of Chesterton and rooted in the social teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
yeah but "social justice" is plain evil bc it's like Judas trying to take the perfume and sell it to give to the poor. Donations must be voluntary. One can be against usury without being a distributist.
