This video couldn't have came at a better time. Im getting ready to go record an album that has basically been in the pre-production phase via my bedroom for literally the entire year. Definitely built up my confidence on the process of this all.

A perfect example of a band recording their entire album before hitting the studio is UK extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. They've even included some of those demos on their special editions.

One day, there just won't be any needs for recording studios ! And records (songs) won't suck more or less than they already do. And most people won't even know about it, for they just don't and cannot care about this, for They are simply trying to live their life.
None of them will ever become an audiophile or melomaniac.

You have really hit on something here: I come from an era of A&R support where preproduction was considered a vital/essential part of the recording process, but these days it seems is seen by some as expendable (of course it isn't) or worse, they are totally oblivious of the pre-production process itself. If people wonder why the music is often of better quality from years gone by (than it is now)... pre-production was a big part of that reason.

Hear hear! There's still some great music being made today too, but it generally follows an approach something like this when you look under the hood.
There's just also a lot of music that makes it out now that doesn't go through a process like this. Most of the time, the artists would be happier-and more successful-in the end if it did.

Most of my key signature decisions are based on how to optimize quality of the vocal part.

This is great content. Another item that can save you a bunch of time is recording yourself to a metronome or the song if you have DAW experience. I think most musicians dont know how sloppy they are or how difficult it is to follow a click track until they get in studio. This ends up taking a bunch of retakes and fixes across the recording process that takes a lot more time than it should if you had this pre-practice.

You are entitled to take whatever approach works for you!
I hope your records are turning out great, get completed within the timeframe and budget you were originally aiming for, and that you are meeting or exceeding your goals for acquiring fans and getting press and reviews, if that is part of what you’re interested in.
Let us know how it goes!

@@JustinColletti Thx for the response, I´ve watched a lot of your videos and mostly they are great, informative, helpful. But in this case I think the magic happens in the recording and mixing stages...
