In Gettysburg, PA we have a ball like this every year around late November for Remembrance Day (: come check it out! You could see us walking around town dressed up too (:
It's my dream to visit the UK, visit interesting places and attend such a fantastic ball! I live in Siberia, Russia. And we have a pleasure to dance such dances here!
Looks like it was so much fun! The men look handsome in their suits, and the ladies look so lovely in those gorgeous dresses. It’s so nice to watch as a little escape from trying to process the horrors of the plague currently devastating the world.
This looks so awesome! I love all the beautiful flowing and colourful dresses, I can't choose my favorite! All the Gentlemen look so handsome in there tuxedos! I feel like I've seen a video in the actual Victorian Era. You look really gorgeous yourself! Amazing and awesome!
There ma be Canadian and US venues ---US has some--- BUT Victorian events seem to lack central HQ, like JASNA for English Regency events and activities. Hopefully some day fir Victorian.
I want a dress !!!! I'll wear it at home while I watch the housewives! And dance to Falco or Bowie !!! Wow two days of dressing up including picnics this is awesome ! I totally love this !!!! I'm going for my birthday it's in may not this year my son is only 2 !! But when he can stay with his grandparents
We have a 1863 ball every year at Gettysburg around Remembrance Day and everyone dresses up in gowns and period attire and it’s wonderful. I’m going for the first time this year since I became a historical reenactor at Gettysburg and I’m soo excited. I’m getting my ballgown soon (: if you want to see this in person I highly recommend coming to Gettysburg, even on an average Saturday you’ll most likely see people like me walking around town dressed in civilian clothes from the time
:D this exists? wow.. no clue where Ill be at that date, but am keeping it in mind, looks like such a fun activity ^^! and ofcourse, who doesnt wanna dress up in victorian dresses?
actually about half of participants is not from the UK.... USA, France, Italy, Russia, Finlad, Germany, B=Netherlands, Poland, Ireland, China, Autralia.....
This is making me want to move to the UK just to attend this.... alas. Maybe I'll find something similar in Canada, but I'm not getting my hopes up (also, just making a late 19th/early 20th century Romanov court dress for Costume-Con is eating up every cent of disposable income I have already). Ooh, and I found the Empress Elisabeth in your video/photos! Impossible to miss that outfit and hairdo.
This is really good, you guys are lucky in there. I am living in turkey republic, also in here; We can't dressed like this because of economy and our community but rarely i wear like this.
Excellent video. It's interesting Victorian-era men werr prone to have more facial hair, i.e. mutton chop whiskers, moderate beards, etc. What a change of men's fashion from the smooth-skinned faces of Georgian Britain!
I desperately hope the plague ends so I can go next year!!! Bit worried about the dress code - I know nothing about sewing and my wife wants to wear her formal lolita dress which covers a lot of skin and has the right shape but only goes to her knees . . .
+hopegirl518 Ashlynn stay at home..... over 18 only or 16 if accompanied by a parent/ guardian. That's nowadays. In the Past, unless you were out ( usually around 15-16) you stayed at home and were not supposed to be attending such functions/ and if they happened at your home, you were safely away in the child quarters, under a diligent care if your governess...
priorattire Thank you.Being an introvert its a releif to hear that if we were still in Victorian times I wouldnt have to attend balls for two more years.Although I will say events like this always amazed me as a young child.
Though if you were very, very good your governess just might take you to the stair landing where you could peep over and marvel at all the beautiful ladies and dashing gentlemen. Then it was back to the nursery with you!
Hey, me too! But, if you can afford to go, you should do it! It looks like a great excuse to travel. These Regency and Victorian balls are making me think about buying plane tickets sooner rather than later.
people are either making their own - and reuse them for other occasions, or hire, or buy ( makes sense if you plan to use the kit more, as it is expensive - but it is also relatively easy to sell on!).
modern dress or hired ones are fine, no partner necessary ..... and considering we are having guests from all over Europe as well as overseas ( Canada and USA), London shouldnt be a big problm :-)
This is so awesome! Would I ever love to attend a real ball. I live in Canada :/ Also I'm Asian, and as multicultural as having people from all over Europe it is, that's still a bit out of bounds.
This may seem odd, but would you be willing to take an American commission. I'm desperate for a gown of this nature. I prefer 1862... But I just want one dearly
alas, all bespoke item will require fittings..... so unless you are prepared to travel.... :_( still, there will be new frocks of that era in generic sizes, coming in our olone shop soon, and we do ship abroad! at the moment there is oly one left - www.priorattire.co.uk/ourshop/cat_884021-Victorian.html
Julia FS Yeah, and I wish this kind of stuff was really popular here in Brazil so maybe we could have our own balls. But there's not really a great community around this as a hobby. :(
I have no control over who buys the tickets I keys- it the ball is open to all genders, colours, sexual orientations etc. Al long as people are dressed nicely, polite and over 18, that is all we ask for. Some years we have more people of colour, some years less- really dep nds in personal interests in historical fashions and dancing
everybody is welcome to our ball, as long as an adult ( 16 if with an accompanying adult) and appropriately dressed. we welcome guests of all nationalities, faiths, ethnic background , gender, sexual orientation or society strata - as long as you have a passion for a victorian clothing and enjoy simple dancing in the style of the Victorian era, you will be fine!
@@priorattire Mum lived in Bath for awhile, and was born in England... I cannot afford to travel that far. It's a comforting thought to know that English heritage is being celebrated. 😊
That venue is gorgeous! And all the pretty dress, oh my gosh. I'd be in heaven
I hope you will continue to host such an event until I am old enough, I'm only sixteen and so far away
you can go now
@@floweryfcuck8502 except it’s sold out with a very long waiting list
My life’s dream was to see a renactment of the old times balls😭😭😭FINALLY
YESSS ME TOO OMG

Oh how I wish I could live at least one day like this with beautiful gown, dance and live a fairytale kind of day...
Looks like it was so much fun! The men look handsome in their suits, and the ladies look so lovely in those gorgeous dresses. It’s so nice to watch as a little escape from trying to process the horrors of the plague currently devastating the world.
You darling truly looked the most beautiful out of them all! You wear the dresses so perfectly! And your partner is handsome as well!! ❤️
Wow, how fantastical... I really hope that I would get the chance to take part in something similar one day. :)

One day, I shall attend. Until then I’ll need to longingly watch from the other side of the world
*cries* I would love this so much and I love Bath. But I have no one to look after the sproglet.
i take it a sproglet is a kid?
oh, that look so fun! too bad i cant go.

Would that I could. What an awesome time it would be. Perhaps next year there will be an Aussie representative or two.

Peter S That's literally on the other side of this huge-ass country from me (I live in Ontario, not British Columbia), but thanks anyway....
I just want to go SOOO badly. Unfortunately, I am 13 and I don't know how to sew whatsoever, also I live halfway across the globe. GREAT!

I love your videos so much! I love historical costumes, but I have a very limited budget. Do you have any tips?
OMG! It looks so fun! I'm from Barcelona, but my boyfriend is from Wells!!! I'll tell him about it and see if we can go! ;)
sold out, am afraid - there is a waiting list though contact me through the website if you wan to be on it!

I'd love to go! I wonder if there's something like this in Ireland?
This looks like a ton of fun, I'd love to participate someday!
Your event looks like so much fun, perhaps I could talk my husband into attending with me one year
thnaks - we have just 12 tockets left for the event in the 2017.... :-) keep tabs on the fb event, next ones will be advertised there
That looks fun. Thank you for sharing video.
oh how I wish I could come! I'm in Canada, and do not have the means to travel such distance.
I would come if only I had an appropriate dress! Looks fantastic
people hire costume for these :-)
Wow all those beautiful dresses.
Seriously? I finally get to go to England, and I'm going to miss this by like TWO DAYS. GAH.
also do you make children dresses for 11 and 12 year olds
historical - yes, when commissioned. modern - no.
Argh, someday! Someday I'll travel all the way to Bath and live out all of my crinoline fantasies!
Ive been wondering as a young teen with little siblings. What would a child do at a Victorian ball.

As a someone going into studying history I'd love love to go! Too bad I'm in the US
We do have quite a few quests from the states..

can anybody get the dresses and outfits or just for certain big events like this ball

I'd love to visit a ball like this... Sadly I live in germany...
we often have guests from the States, Switzerland, spain, sweden, France - and next year looks to be an international one too!
omg i want to go!!!
but i don't have a dress .. or a partner ... and i'm in London ... ah this would be so amazing to do!!!

I would love to go, but I don't have any dresses :(

It feels like you time traveled and filmed this 😭
How much do these wonderful dresses cost I wouldn't mind saving up for one
oh god why do i live so far?
so beautifull, i wish i where there
This is so awesome! Would I ever love to attend a real ball. I live in Canada :/ Also I'm Asian, and as multicultural as having people from all over Europe it is, that's still a bit out of bounds.
we do have peope flying in from Canada and the States - they usualy combine it with a sightseeing tour. and Asians are welcome! :-)
I wish they had a rococo ball because that's the only dress I have
Georgian minuet company has one...

Julia FS Yeah, and I wish this kind of stuff was really popular here in Brazil so maybe we could have our own balls. But there's not really a great community around this as a hobby. :(
Will you be hosting another ball in 2020?
As mentioned in the latest video, tickets for the 2019 are in sale and mostly gone....
Does anyone know about balls like this in America.
starlight17 I would like to know too
Well, there's this in Orange County, California: victoriandance.org/
Thanks!
I wish there was something in Ohio.
My dream 🥺
Can girls that are 12 go?
Alas, no. 18 only, 16 if supervised by an adult
I don't see anyone of color though 🙁. I am not white but I love love this era.
I have no control over who buys the tickets I keys- it the ball is open to all genders, colours, sexual orientations etc. Al long as people are dressed nicely, polite and over 18, that is all we ask for. If only I could afford the airfare from Japan. :,(
Oh SWEET. I'll take the first guy. Dashing with a bit of tousle. Perfectamundo.
Do wonderful!
There are more girls, men don't like Victorian life? ;p
I have a serious question would it be weird for a black person to do this like what you do in your videos?
everybody is welcome to our ball, as long as an adult ( 16 if with an accompanying adult) and appropriately dressed. we welcome guests of all nationalities, faiths, ethnic background , gender, sexual orientation or society strata - as long as you have a passion for a victorian clothing and enjoy simple dancing in the style of the Victorian era, you will be fine!
