Your dress was simply lovely! I really enjoyed this! I would love so much to participate in this sort of thing. Perhaps one day I will win the lottery! I'm so glad you got to go and experience this!
Thank you for posting this, my wife and I will be attending the Regency Promonade this year and are so looking forward it it. Dressing up in " silly" clothes is so much more fun when others are with you.
I'm a ex-member of the SCA and I used to wear a Gates of Hell - Sideless Surcoat dress (15th century) which was made with a heavy brocade. I love that dress and most of our fancy events were in winter so the heavy dress was nice and warm in the skirt...not so much on top.
Thank you for sharing with us your adventure! I really enjoyed watching with my morning coffee. You looked beautiful! Just a note about budget constraints. My grandmother was poor most of her life and always had to "make due" with what she had. She was very creative and always dressed fashionable because sewed her own clothes and was always making over hand-me-down clothes. I hope you continue to sew throughout your life and dream big.
Don't forget to pay attention to glove length. That might seem minor, but glove length was very particular to the period. Very nice, thanks for the video.
Great point! As far as I could find out, evening gloves increased in length starting in the 1860s, transitioning from earlier wrist-length styles to the eventual way-above-elbow length as seen in the 1890s. Which length would suggest for a gown from between 1862-1865?
Wow loved this video everybody looks so good the sewing must have taken so long! You look lovely! How long did you have to prepare? I hear tickets are really hard to get and go very quickly!
Thank you! Yes, the tickets do sell out very fast. This year, I think only two were left at the official "launch", all the others were snapped up by previous ball-goers. It took months for me to make my dress, as it has so many parts, however I didn't really work on it that consistently. I got it done a few days before the ball, but many others were sewing through the weekend right till the last second!
Thank you for this really fun video. I am wondering if the women involved decided ahead of time what colors they would wear so that there was a range of color.
No, I don't think so. As far as the ball gown was concerned I think some of us even tried not to give too much away (myself included) so there would be a grand reveal on the night. But colour coordinating would be a fun idea for one of the coming years!
Beuatiful! Looks like a lot of fun.
I know Last Minute sewing too. Still sewed one hour before the ball 😂
You look adorable ladybug. I am so happy you got to go. Everything looks beautiful.
All the ladies looked so lovely. Hopefully, you had a great time.
Thank you! It was a magical night, if not for the photos I wouldn't believe it really happened!
@@AroundTheYearI'm so glad your dream came true.😊

I completely agree 😀 I hope you'll enjoy the promenade! One day maybe I'll be able to go as well - another event for the bucket list...

Thank you for sharing that story with me! It's always inspiring to hear how people get creative to make something nice with what they have/can afford!
You looked absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you! It was a magical weekend.

@@AroundTheYear Keep them short into the 1870s. Length increases during early 1870s through the end of the century. Thanks again for the lovely video!
@@kathleenmary1000 of course, and thank you for the tip! I'll keep that in mind for next time.
absolutely gorgeous ❤

What fun!
The fashion is 1860ish
Tie the hoop behind your legs to get kind of elliptical
thanks for the tip! I'll try that next time!
Lovely❣️ (Only, 'An der schönen blauen Donau' was composed in 1866/1867!)
very fitting - I love the piece! Thank you for this...
Nice video
