Gargoyles should be categorized as Constructs IMO, but I think it has to do with how they exists in our world. that, and Magic the Gathering categorizing them as such. Great video as always, guys!
@@TheMightyBattleSquid Well, mimics are categorized as "monstrocities" so should they be monstrocities? I would say yes. Makes more sense than elementals or construcs seeing as they have a finite(ish) life span, have to reproduce, and can be selectively bred.
I discovered your channel a month ago, and I am currently going through your immense backlog(From the beginning). Your content is exceptional. Keep up the great work. Shout out to Demogorgon.
Thank you for your knowledge, funny metaphors and ridiculous references you come up with. You two have help me be a better player and am inspired to do my own world. Don’t stop doing what you do. Love you guys.
34:25 What if gargoyles fly because they are earth based & they use the planes geomagnetism to force them upwards like the repulsion of common magnets & they guide themselves with their wings sending the pulses that way , Aka Falling with terran style
So yeah the origin of gargoyles is from being a form of rain gutter spouts. But gargoyles didn’t use to be statues, just spouts. Back in the day they would put statues on buildings called grotesques, which were real ugly. And eventually grotesques were carved around gargoyles, and they became known as just gargoyles
I wonder if they decided to make this video because Dungeon Meshi (A dungeon crawler/cooking manga/anime where the main characters feed off monsters to get through the dungeon.) had Gargoyles in one of the last few episodes.
Love using Gargoyles. But any experienced player just knows something is up the moment you mention there is a Gargoyle statue around. 😅 The dragon refusings are stange. I am conflicted. I do think you should be able to use whichever one you want! The new models looks pretty cool. But they look quite generic instead of having the dnd feel to them.
I love that because gargoyles don't get along putting statues on your building is like putting a scarecrow or fake owl on your house, possibly warding off actual gargoyles and kr scaring off those that might tresspass Though would also enjoy more neutral and good gargoyles, though that may be the 90s gargoyle fan in me
I can't believe you guys didn't mention Professor X as one of the bald good guys! Anyway, I love your show. Keep it up. Here's hoping for an episode about meenlocks!
You guys covered a sapphire dragon that had gargoyles and existed in the under dark to fight aberrations I think. I would consider that lawful good maybe?
I'm doing the straud campaign and decided to use an aarakocra because I thought it would be fun. Except they don't have dark vision so I'm always lighting torches... anyways, according to aarakocra lore, they are enemies of the gargoyles but sad to see there isn't much qctual lore between the two. I figured if anyone had the info it would be you guys, so i guess it doesnt exist. it's time to write some 😂 thanks for another great show!
Great show as always. Love it. Love the whole new stuff you’re doing. A note, you keep referring to the new D&D books as OneD&D and according to folks at Wizards, that’s not correct. OneD&D was a (i guess now retired) name for their VTT + DndBeyond + the process that eventually led to the new books. But the new books are not called OneD&D. I think maybe it was more like the name of a project, and not the name of a product of that project, if that makes sense. Anyway, i guess there’s gonna be some confusion in the player community until people agree what to call this update. Is it 5.5? Is it D&D 2024? What do you think people will wind up calling it?
With the newest reviews to the book I am definitely in the boat of "we are now moving into 5.5 D&D" . It pretty much parallels the same thing that occured with the transition from 3.0 to 3.5 D&D. So moving forward I'll be referring to it as 5.5 D&D. I think I've seen that starting to catch on in different places online, but only time will tell what we all end up calling it.
Can’t express how much I love getting to just hear the whole Shoutout to Demogorgon song every episode.
Is there a full version of this somewhere online I can buy or download it?
Y’all should do an episode about all of Will‘s favorite books and book recommendations for fantasy readers. Love you guys!

It’s OK guys. I know you two were sick. Hope you get better. Love y’all. You too are awesome.
I’m picturing an Adamantine Gargoyle made by some mad Dwarve Archmage :D
Will: "did you hear about the dragon redesignes?" Me: "ughhhh please don't be lame!"
From what I've seen they're pretty cool, not a lot of the designs are revealed yet

I've be waiting so long for Gargoyles. Favourite creature, in DnD and Magic the Gathering

If the party wants to cure someone of partial petrification, I think they should have to gargle Garg's gargoyle oil.
Thanks again for a rock solid episode guys Five more until 400!
5e is moving away from hard alignments so all modern creatures are "typically" an alignment

Great as always, thanks for everything! Always look forward to your vids each week
I will forever view the Jeepers Creepers villian as a form of Gargoyle.

Great episode. I look forward to seeing what you do with the new format. Best wishes, and I’m looking forward to the next one!
home owner associations in some parts are pretty strict about having gargoyles on your property

My favorite gargoyle is our beefy boy, Frazurblu

Gargoyles glide, they don’t fly. We learned this in the 90s guys 😂
I would play a Gargoyles TTRPG set in a gothic city with a focus on action and ancient magic vs. technology

If I’m remembering correctly you couldn’t hurt Gargoyles without magic weapons or spells in AD&D
You know what's weird? I watched the 70's cult classic movie Gargoyles right before I clicked on this video.
Another bald hero for you, Luke Cage
garglegoyle seems an easy fit for water gargoyles

Gargoyles are badass. Brilliant for annoying players 🙂
Disappointed. I was expecting a guest appearance from goliath and the gang...
