Where is a Smart Car Battery (453 models)

- Hi all,
another super short video showing where the battery is on the newer 453 range (the old 451 battery was in the passenger footwell) and how to access it. Also, a quick run through of what's in the serve ice bay and how to remove the Smart bonnet.
The tools needed are a Torx 27 bit and a ratchet wrench or heavy duty Torx driver with a 27 bit. A very simple way you get better access to the service bay and not scratch your bonnet when accessing the light or battery area which is very restrictive.
Thanks
Gareth
Actually its only the 453 Forfour that has short straps, the 453 Fortwo has long straps where you can lower the bonnet onto the front of the car. REASON: The larger Forfour bonnet needed shorter straps in case is comes loose whilst driving, so it won't cover the windscreen. Note that the original car battery is crap, and will last only a few years if you use start stop tech. Even not using start stop you may get 5 years out of it. The first sign of battery failure is random electronic warning signs coming up on the dash. We all move onto new battery eventually, and recommend Halfords AMG027 with 5 year guarantee, which i have now fitted.
Spot on with the batter. Not so sure about the short straps though.
What did you do about resetting the ECU which I believe to be necessary? A friend is facing this right now.
@@simonpearson8757 According to many smart car websites there is no need to do any coding. I just changed the battery and that's it.
@@simonpearson8757 I haven’t needed to change the battery yet.
