- Ten years after simian flu wiped out much of the world's humans, genetically enhanced chimpanzees have established a thriving colony just outside San Francisco in Muir Woods. Meanwhile, a small band of human survivors emerges, which forces Caesar, as leader, to grapple with the dual challenge of protecting his people and re-establishing a relationship with the remaining human population-the latter being Caesar's secret wish.

On my recent rewatch I noticed how tragic Koba was. As a kid I simply hated him but now I really see how much he loved Caesar. He was ready to die for Caesar as we see with the bear and later when he expressed his concerns to him. And things would have always stayed happy if they never ran into the humans again. Unfortunately with the interactions with the humans that fed into his fear and PTSD, he succumbed to his hate and that hate led to him thinking only of himself in a twisted self preservation.

@@jrnew1970 Koba definitely loved Caesar, you can tell by his concerns for him after the bear attack and when he expressed his loyalty and thoughts. The only way you can’t tell that Koba didn’t love Caesar is if you can’t grasp that love can exist between individuals in a non romantic form. Ever heard of “brotherly love” etc?
@@jrnew1970he loved caeser for sure, but his hate for humans was stronger than his love for caeser. This is what led to his downfall.
Caesar leading them to his childhood home, seeing the childhood home, and seeing the memories of the childhood home always gets me😭😭😭😭 Especially, Caesar tearing up at the video on the camcorder 😢

Andy Serkis as Caesar is one of the best castings to me and he should've won awards for his performance, it's crazy how much emotion he can make shine through a 3d ape model.
Same for the rest of the motion capture ape actors, especially koba who's also one of my fav movie villains. Matt Reeves is such an underrated director, y'all should watch more of his stuff after War. He did The Batman (2022) , Cloverfield, Let Me In.

Koba killed Rockets son Ash (one who was shot at the beginning) by throwing him off the ledge, who was Blue Eye's friend.
I don’t think blue eyes doesn’t believe in his dad but he doesn’t have that relationship with humans like caesar does. the first time he saw humans they shot his friend. and then carver pointed a gun at him and his little brother. he probably doesn’t understand why his father keeps them around.

Growing up as a kid watching the 5 films 70s versions and now this is Such a great trilogy and casting the great andy serkis to play ceasar was great decision

The movie is a soild start and continuation from the previous trilogy that sets up future movies to come beside both critics and audiences have been giving this movie very high praise bc they have actually seen it.

Caesar speaks more cus he had the virus in his genes at birth as well as the new version in pt.1, the other apes speak too they just evolve slower then Caesar does, basically Cesar has a starter pack😂

You should watch some behind the scenes videos. Seeing the actors do the extensive training, and act as apes in the motion capture suits is amazing. The 6 or 7 actors who played ALL of the apes are incredible. There’s also videos where on the left, they show the behind scenes of the actors playing the scene, and on the right is the film scene. It’s so cool.
FYI, that was Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) who lead the human community.
Keep watching these then watch the original from 1968’ if you haven’t yet.. still gives me chills lol

I’m glad y’all got the resemblance between carver and koba. As the movie seems they’re always keen to react on emotion based on there personal past with the apes/humans. Koba was tortured and experimented on, and carver lost his family due to the virus

I genuinely love this trilogy more than the Lord of the Ring's trilogy. Don't know how Kingdom will compare, if its even part of this trilogy, or if its a standalone or starting another storyarc in the series. Hoping its on par atleast with all the other movies that i think manage to all be equally good
Kingdom is supposed to be a trilogy at the moment it’s just one film plus all the reviews for it so far have given it high praise. Everyone loved it.
I’ve seen it, it’s very good. It might be recency bias but it’s my favourite so far.

Thanks for continuing with the reboot trilogy and Caesars story in Dawn for the planet of the apes. This film is next level and War takes it a step even higher. I’m looking forward to your reaction. I watch this trilogy every two weeks at home and saw it at the cinema when it first came out. Rise, Dawn and War are masterpieces and my fave movies ever. I adore Caesar. There will never be another character on the same level as him. Koba is so misunderstood he was tortured all his life in labs until Caesar freed him it’s understandable how he feel about humans. I don’t like that he shooter Caesar though. The new one Kingdom is out today. All reviews have been giving it high praise, very positive. Looking forward to seeing it. I also look forward to your final reaction of Caesars story in War. You’ll have to store up on tissues for that one trust me. Dawn is most peoples fave of the trilogy but i still prefer Rise though i adore all three. Kingdom is a separate film but still carries a connection to this one. It baffles me that this trilogy is largely unappreciated and underrated by so many people? Their loss i guess. See you for War. I liked some of the resident evils for outbreak movies. Some cheesy but others make up for it

@@Getstr8cash Maybe Ash wants to take revenge on Blue Eyes. After Koba told Blue Eyes we will avenge your father, maybe Blue Eyes invited Ash to join the war with him. And there is also the possibility that Ash is afraid of Koba because Koba is stronger than him
@@Getstr8cashblue eyes was a young ape struggling with his identity throughout the movie and his father just died (he thought) so of course he would want revenge, and ash was a young ape as well probably just following his friend.

There is an episode In the book of boba Fett Where we see the mandalorian Luke Skywalker Baby Yoda or grogu Ahsoka tano all in the same episode.

Will was a good dude with good intentions, but he is Oppenheimer. He created the virus. And he created an even more aggressive one. He was the one experimenting with it on the apes and his Dad. People forget about his Dad. That was completely unethical and who knows if someone else got infected with the ALZ 112 virus handling his father. It was never said that the ALZ 112 was not the cause of his father's accelerated death. The ALZ 113 was made to be more aggressive but it is still the same virus.
Just like Oppenheimer does not get a pass for not directly dropping the Atom Bomb, Will doesn't get a pass for not directly distributing the ALZ113 to humanity.

In my opinion the title should be switched around There is more war actually happening in dawn of the planet of the apes then there is in war for the planet of the apes. It's my opinion that war for the planet of the apes should be called dawn of the planet of the apes and dawn of the planet of the apes should be called war for the planet of the apes. In war There's only 1 quick Attack On the apes by the humans and then a small click Special forces type Operation against the apes The rest of the movie Trying to Escape from a prison camp.
Other ape movies The order of the original planet of the apes movies Planet of the apes1968, Beneath the planet of the apes1970, Escape from the planet of the apes71, Conquest of the planet of the apes 72, Battle for the planet of the apes 73, Reboot planet of the apes2001. Then of course the new movies originally a trilogy. Too bad you guys didn't first start with the original Planet of the Apes from 1968, before watching these prequel movies. One of the most famous twist endings in cinema is now spoiled since you started on these first, plus there are lots of references that probably went over your head, which would have ben fun to watch you react to.
