When you listen to a Drake album like A3 rid of it is actual rap, the rest is a hybrid of rap and pop with some RnB somewhere in there. They see those albums and songs do good numbers and take that as validation in rap too. RnB Drake and rapping Drake aren’t in the same league. Drake can rap FOR SURE but there’s levels he can’t get to and that’s not his fault, he’s not built for that. There’s probably about 10-15 people head & shoulders above Drake majority of which are not even active right now.

When Kendrick first got discovered by Dre, Eminem tested him by having him sit in the studio with no one else and write song on the spot and the man delivered back then. The dude is phenomenal writer. He has a Pulitzer for a reason.
Kendrick has a long history of making _just_ enough club music to stay relevant in pop culture so he can do whatever else he wants to deep dive on. He could probably write jams all day without breaking a sweat, he just clearly isn't that interested in it.

And had other references directly too Fanily Matters material. It had just come out at 12am and Not Like Us was realized the next morning. Either Kendrick sat up in the studio all night and recorded it or it was already done and he had a mole. Both can't be true. Even Meet The Graham's had direct references to the things said in Family Matters. He must have recorded those responses and somehow made them fit PERFECTLY into the schemes, mixed and mastered them, and then released them all in 30-40 minutes. Whatever cope you'd like to take, it aint enough.

I think...when Kendrick realized that it was a battle, he went in a studio and recorded 10 tracks which included Euphoria, Meet The Grahams, and Not Like Us. He did it over the course of the week he was silent and Drake was trolling on social media. Euphoria has direct responses to Push Ups and Taylor Made on it. I think the most recent track is 6:16 AM in LA because it was done after Euphoria dropped. The first half of it feels like its different than the other songs. And note, the sample still hasn't cleared so it hasn't been put on streaming yet. He did it as just another warning to Drake. Drake doesn't listen. Kendrick uploads Meet the Grahams which was recorded at the same time Euphoria was recorded. He had it in the tuck the whole time. Either he predicted the angle Drake would go OR there is a mole at OVO that told him details. They shot a music video for the song. Tons of people would know what its subject matter and tone was. Kendrick drops Meet the Grahams to squash Family Matters. He heard Family Matters and knew he wanted to go Back 2 Back so added a third verse to Not Like Us that night/early morning and then dropped the song.

Even though I'm Kendrick all the way, this beef did make me realize Drake can still RAP when his back is against the wall. "Family Matters" would have put down 90% of your favorite rappers, no bullshit.
I agree. I expected a fight, but ‘Family Matters’ did surprise me. Drake had slick lines THROUGHOUT the battle. Even as bad as ‘The Heart Part 6’ is, he was still dropping bars. But Kendrick was definitely playing games from the beginning.

Came here to say that. You can just punch it in. The change in vocal levels makes it sound like that's what they did. Also, I'm in the Bay so I tried to find when the Oakland show is coming up and I can't find one. Makes me think the song was originally written or recorded prior to whenever there was one coming up.
