Exploring Honeymoon Island State Park

- I chose the day before daylight savings time ended so I could get in closer to sunrise. Most Florida State Parks open at 8, which is a little late of a start time for me. Sometimes I'll camp in the park to get around that. This time I just chose a specific day. The tides were also peaking how I would want as well. Just in case there were some tidal pool viewing opportunities. I did have to put off my start to the Hillsborough County Hiking Spree, but I catch up quick, as you'll see next week.
There were lots of birds to film, both on the beach, and in the woods. The nature trail had gopher tortoises and armadillos too. Along the water I filmed a shark, which might be a first for this channel. I also came across a couple different types of crabs.
Highlights for me were the rock crab and the baby tortoise.
Those Gopher Tortoises have the heart of a much larger creature. You always shoot awesome footage!
Thanks. I love those little guys! I miss seeing them often because I tend to start and end my hikes too early.
wow. i was planning on shelling there in a couple of weeks but now i'm going to spend yhe whole day and see if i can finally find an armadillo. thanks for the timely preview! (oh...and...shark!)
The shark was great! I find armadillos by sound a lot of the time. Keep your ears pricked!
There's usually one by the picnic area that will let you take it's picture. Most of the others run off.
Thank you for making the beautiful video.
My pleasure.
Thanks for showing the nature trails here. I've been to Honeymoon Island quite a bit, but missed out on the nature trails because it was very mosquito-y at the time, lol!
I had a similar experience on my recent Fort de Soto trip. Couldn't even film the nature trail there due to mosquitos. Just had to run through it.
I grew up there my hometown I love Honeymoon Island
Nice. I had been before and knew I needed to go back to make a video.
