Note: this home video edition of Biography presents the original 1991 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis episode with a newly produced prologue and coda from 1995, following Onassis’ death.
    Running Time: 50 Minutes
    Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
Produced by CEL COMMUNICATIONS, INC. in association with A&E NETWORK. Host PETER GRAVES, Executive Producers CHARLES GRINKER and MARTIN L. WALDMAN, Producer / Director MAURICE PALEAU, Producer LILIBET FOSTER, Writer LARRY SHERMAN, A&E Programming Executive MICHAEL CASCIO.
Part fairy tale, part Shakespearean tragedy, too rich in intrigue and irony for any work of fiction, here is the story of the sheltered girl who became the world’s most talked-about and admired woman.
When Jackie Kennedy burst into the public eye in 1960, she represented youth, glamour and sophistication. With President Kennedy’s assassination, she became the grieving widow. When she married Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis five years later, she shocked the public and emerged as the jet-setting Jackie O. Her metamorphosis continued as she became a career woman, book editor and grandmother before the nation mourned her untimely death.
BIOGRAPHY® is proud to present the life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, one of the most remarkable women in modern history.

    Great post really interesting. Onassis
Was a comfort to her and safety at the time. But she grew to depend on herself in the end.

Her Wedding Day was bittersweet, her Father Black Jack was so Drunk he couldn't walk her down the aisle. Her Stepfather Hugh Auchincloss aka Uncle Hughie gave her away. Hard to believe Caroline will be 65 next year. She was also the inspiration for Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond.

That was because Jackie’s mom Janet purposely arranged that way. She was happily married to her 2nd husband Huge and wanted Huge to walk Jackie down the aisle. She didn’t even want Black Jack to show up at her own daughter’s rehearsal dinner and wedding, but of course he showed up and Janet didn’t treat him well, so he was drinking a lot (plus he already had drinking issue), Janet just facilitated that, in order for her 2nd husband to walk Jackie down the aisle. But Jackie never forgot about that and never forgave her mother for such doing.

He got drunk after Janet had him locked into his hotel room so there was no way he could make it to the church in time to walk Jackie down the aisle. By the time the door was unlocked, he not only was drunk but could only make it to the church midway through the wedding.

Give the Lady her props. She was a superb Mother to her Children encouraging them to "Give Back"., to the Community. She was Strict but Fair. She also knew how to have a Life out side the compound unlike Ethel.

According to Randy Taraborrelli in his book Jackie, Janet & Lee, Jackie had been engaged to a stockbroker, John Husted Jr., and they had even set a wedding date for 1951, but she broke up with him after her mother discovered that she earned only $17,000 a year, an amount she considered completely insufficient for her daughter. After an on-and-off two-year relationship with Jackie in which he spent a lot of time campaigning, traveling and engaging in politics, it was his parents who pressured their son to come out. Jackie was beautiful, she knew how to behave and she was also Catholic. In June '53, he finally asked her to marry him. Proof of how mythical their existence would soon become is that several places dispute - with even commemorative plaques - being the official place where they closed the engagement, from the Martin's Tavern restaurant in Georgetown to the Omni Parker House in Boston, although other sources They claim that the romance of a candlelight dinner did not exist: while Jackie was in London covering the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, he called her on the phone and asked her to marry him.

We are not a democracy. We are a republic. The fact that most don't understand the distinction clearly explains why this great country is a total mess! Under democracy, there can be no laws, no rights, no freedoms. Any system whose basis is "popular sentiment of the moment" cannot sustain the structures known as righs, laws and freedoms. Naturally, the party dedicated to democracy fulfills what Aristotle and Plato said about democracy: "It inevitably leads to chaos, violence and tyranny." Yes, we know...we're seeing it everywhere!

The famous Pink Pillbox Hat she wore on that day has still never been found. Mary Gallagher, Jacqueline Kennedy's then personal secretary was the last known person to have ever seen the hat, supposedly. It is unclear if it was taken by someone choosing to hold onto it as a morbid souvenir, of sorts. It is NOT with the skirt-suit ensemble being stored in Washington.
