      Seriously amazing cars and I’m so happy I got to experience something this fast & powerful. I just really want to get back into a lightweight, manual car! The F-Type R is a lot of awesome things, but lightweight and manual it ain’t 😅

      I fully understand what you mean, but I’m really a guy who loves “sampling” a lot of different automotive “experiences” and, during my 21 year driving career, I’ve owned 18 vehicles ranging from absolutely massive SEMA-build style lifted diesel dually trucks to tiny little kei vans and a whole lot in between.
      I owned a fantastic modified Jag XKR prior to this car (Same powertrain, but with a 650hp tune and RWD instead of AWD) and loved it. I’ve also owned an NA Miata built for auto cross as well as a 3.0L Z3 and a few other sporty-ish cars.
      After years of sampling, I’ve found that the Miata was the peak “driving fun” experience for me: Super lightweight, top down, RWD with a stick shift. I could always do with more power, but mods can easily help with that. What I can’t do is remove the weight from most of the more powerful modern cars. Modern GT & sports cars are incredibly fast and fun, but there’s a certain level of fun that’s only attainable (for me) when the thing i’m driving weighs less than 3,000 lbs and has a clutch.
      I’d love to continue sampling many more cars in the years to come, but I’ve basically decided that I will always need a really lightweight manual car in my garage, regardless of whatever else I choose to try.
      I’m guessing you’d say something about EV’s becoming mandated powertrains and V8’s going extinct, etc. and I’m inclined to agree when it comes to new cars, but as far as used cars go I think I’ll still be able to enjoy cars like that for awhile and might grab something like this again down the line, even if it costs a little more when I do.
      For now, I’ve got other things I’d like to pay down and want another topless, lightweight stick shift car back in my life. 😀

      @@Gr8DaneFilms Man I completely get it! What is on your list, any specific cars or makes? Most of the cars I’ve owned have been manual. First car was an 85 CRX Si. Loved that car.

      @@JZ_CarsI normally have pretty obscure taste with cars but this time around I’m keeping my sights set on a few key factors: Manual transmission, convertible or removable roof, RWD, and under 3,000 lbs with around 200hp or more (Or comparable power-to-weight ratio) and all for about $30k or less. (I want to be able to put aside and save the extra I get from the sale of the Jag.
      Obviously, top of my list is a 2019+ (ND2) Mazda Miata RF Grand Touring GT-S 6-Speed with the Brembos and BBS wheels (But I don’t need the Recaro seats because I hear those are pretty tight)
      Other options I’ve eyeballed have been some very few and far-between air-cooled Porsche 911 Cabrios and Targas I’ve seen, Alfa Romeo Spiders (Of many different eras) and some other oddballs. But the ND2 Miata RF remains the top of the heap and most likely candidate for me due to runnings costs, aftermarket, etc.

    Good luck figuring out a replacement. This is next on my list to replace my stick shift RWD 300zxtt (forest fire). I can't figure out any other car with the same power, AWD, etc at a good price like the F-Type.

    • @Gr8DaneFilms
      @Gr8DaneFilms  7 місяців тому

      Believe it or not I’m going to a completely different end of the spectrum- I’m specifically interested in getting a car with a removable roof and a stick shift that’s RWD and weighs less than 3000 lbs.
      Like I said in another comment, I’ve sampled just about every kind of layout of car there is and I feel like I miss the experience of driving a truly lightweight, tossable manual RWD car like my old auto cross Miata more than anything else.
      My “practical car” is a white-on-black two-tone late-model Ford Flex Limited Ecoboost AWD lowered on BC Coils with a rowdy exhaust and all the turbo whooshy noises a person could want. It’s faster than it has any right to be, but it also weighs nearly 5,000 lbs lol.
      The hardest experience to find in a modern car is something raw and truly lightweight, so an ND2 RF with the brembos, bilsteins and recaros is on my short list. (Unless I somehow come across an air-cooled Porsche in decent shape for under $35k. (Which is not very likely) I’m deliberately saving some proceeds from the sale of my F-Type to pay down some other things, rather than using it all.

    I own a C8 Corvette Stingray and this F-Type R has the best exhaust I've ever heard. I don't know why GM made the C8 exhaust so tame. It's embarrassing.

    • @Gr8DaneFilms
      @Gr8DaneFilms  6 місяців тому +1

      You’re certainly right! Stock-for-stock, the F-Type R has one of the gnarliest exhaust notes of any car still on the market. Luckily the C8 wakes up with a nice aftermarket unit.

      Corvettes are great for blending in with the crowd since there are so many around. If you want to be the wolf among all the sheep then get a Jaguar F-Type R.

    You should just get a 06 Corvette or just a Corvette with a stick such a great bang for your buck and I would probably even beat the jaguar in the top run

    • @Gr8DaneFilms
      @Gr8DaneFilms  7 місяців тому +2

      Totally agree if my end goal was purely performance, but even though the Vette is one of the few cars I can find under $30k with RWD, a stick and a targa top, I’ve driven several and while they’re fun, they just don’t compare to how nimble, lightweight and special a Miata feels, plus the build quality between an ND Miata and a C5 or C6 inside and out is night & day. I’ve finally reached an age where I care more about that sort of thing.
      But you’re absolutely right in terms of bang for buck performance. I’d make an exception for a C6 Z06, but those are really tough to find for $30k or less and they don’t let you take the top off so for that reason alone I just wouldn’t go for it at this point.
      The Jaguar has been incredible fast and actually handles extremely well considering its heft, but I really want to go back to the feeling of driving a truly lightweight car like a Miata or a Lotus Elise, etc. (The ND RF Miata has way more modern safety and creature comforts while still keeping the weight down though, so it’s really the most logical choice to me right now)
