- My newest toy: A 1984 Dodge 600 ES!
First year for the Turbo 2.2 motor, this puppy is fully loaded with cornering lights, factory alloy rims, power windows, door locks, mirrors, driver seat, all digital gauges and electronic voice alert! It needs some love but for being 38 years old and all original I think it’s in great shape!
Really great find. I remember these cars so well back in the 80's. Had a new Dodge Daytona turbo back in 84'. Currently have a 84' Dodge Daytona Turbo Z. Back in 2010 there was a 38k orig mile Dodge 600 convertible parked on a road near my town for sale. Took a few pics of it. It was in beautiful original condition. I hope it's in a good home somewhere now.

I had a 1983 600 ES with four speed transmission on the floor. I took the car with me when the Navy transferred me to Italy. It got hailed on in Munich, denting the car in about 50 different places. But by comparison to most of the other cars in that summer storm 1984, it fared well - many of the others had broken windshields.
They are pretty sturdy! Awesome that yours had a manual transmission!
I LIKE IT! REMINDS ME OF THE 1984 CHRYSLER E CLASS MY PARENTS BOUGHT. I was 10 when they bought it new. The E Class was essentially a near twin of the 600. Though it had a different grill, no vents in the hood or fender, and the headlight assembly was more like that on the Le Baron.
Those tones it makes when the key is inserted, and when the engine starts is nostalgic music to my ears.
Shortly after we bought it, the 4 of us (Dad, mom, my older sister, and I) packed our bags and hot the road for a road trip. We passed through St. Louis, went up into the Gateway Arch, then headed south to Panama City Beach, FL. to visit old friends. Next, up to North Carolina to visit family (my mom's side).
There's something special about family road trips. The memories of fun on the beech, the Arch, our relatives, oh, and the fights my sister and I had in the back! 😂.
The car became just as much a part of the memories as anything else.
The car was a good one. Did need a new transmission in 1990, but served us well for some 220K miles.

P.S., If you wish to turn off the voice alert, I believe there is a switch in the back of the glovebox to do that.
1985 would see the Canadian-market Plymouth Caravelle sedan taking over, since nobody really wanted a lower-priced Chrysler. That also meant the planned M-body Chrysler Newport sedan instead became the Dodge Diplomat SE.
The 1983-84 600 ES sedan's blacked out window trim prefigures what the 1986-88 600 sedans (with the "gunsight" grille first used on the 1985 Aries) looked like. But come 1985, the 600 ES sedan was out in favor of an entirely new model, the Lancer ES Turbo hatchback (the 600 ES convertible would continue to exist through 1986).
Within the 600 line, the SE sedan and convertible were the new additions that year. Also no longer available for the 1985 600 was the five-speed manual transmission, again exclusive to the Lancer ES Turbo.
Sweet car, glad to see it's survived this long, in honestly pretty good shape! The electronic voice system brings me right back to my childhood- not because we had a car that talked, but because our local airport growing up had a tram that used an extremely similar voice alert system.

Yeah it’s definitely a little bit off. Misfires at idle sometimes and sometimes stalls and lacks power. Previous owner did fuel pump and coolant sensor. I have a DRB-II and I’m thinking it could be the a TPS and/or Distributor pickup cool issue. Could also be a Logic and/or Power Module issue. We’ll find out soon enough.

Great video and good find ! I am interested in these E series stretched K car platform cars . I had family members and friends who owned these cars back in the 80s . I saw a 1985 Plymouth Caravelle E series for sale but it was in bad condition . I will keep looking they were pretty popular and fairly reliable .

My Opa had one of these, except his was tutone, “gunmetal grey” on silver and wire hubcaps. Been looking for a pic of one like his for awhile, yours has been the closest to it. I guess that color combo is rare?
Make sure to fill the engine with seafood and harass repair shops for stealing the relays out of it! Seriously though, that thing is pretty sweet.

WAITTT, I just got one of these as my first car but mine is the convertible... WHY DOESN'T MINE TALK TO ME THATS SO FUNNY??!!! It might be something with the speakers because I don't think those work but is the voice thing for all models?

I see that this one has automatic transmtion and the shift in on the bottom, but I'm almoust sure that use to have shift on the colom isn't that corect? And the transmition is 3A, 3 gears, I really miss this car, if we had in Brazil , I would have one, ok I'll keep waching your vídeos , don't forget to show Reliant, Caprice Buick Regal and Olds Cutlass Suprime , those cars are very nice , I used to se all, on the streets, I traveled 4 more times to US, and I kept whaching on the streets , and the last times , I could drive in US,
This one came from the factory with the floor shifter, but most came with the column shifter.

I know these cars quite well. The stalling problems might be the coil. Those coils sucked on those 600's. The fuel filter or the injectors might be super dirty? Car has a lot of miles on it?
Also, you can change the voice to a female. It can be done by finding the voice box under the dash and pushing on a switch.
Fuel filter is new, coil is new, cap,
Rotor, plugs and wires are new, fuel pump is new, Power Module replaced, Logic Module replaced, AIS replaced, TPS replaced, MAP sensor replaced. Readings from all sensors are good. All that could possibly be left is a vacuum leak.
I have a number of the voice boxes, including 11 function and 24 function out of various years and the factory service manuals. All the switch does is turn the voice alert function on or off.

No, but Ford did have the LTD LX sedan that year with the 5.0.

I am looking to buy a 1985 dodge 600 4 door sedan ….we are looking for a car to do experiments to prove or disprove situations that could of happened with a missing person from 1988 who had a 1985 dodge 600 4 door sedan ….
I certainly wish you luck. 600 sedans are fairly rare. If you just need a E body car (The 600 was an E body), keep an eye out for a Chrysler E Class, Plymouth Caravelle, or Chrysler New Yorker. They are all basically the same car.
