Tens of thousands protest against controversial NZ bill reinterpreting founding treaty

- Over 35,000 protesters have gathered outside New Zealand's parliament to oppose a controversial bill to reinterpret the Treaty of Waitangi, the 184-year-old founding treaty between Māori and the crown.
NZ MP Hana-Rāwhiti Maipi-Clarke, who got a 24-hour suspension for ripping the bill and leading a haka in parliament, told the crowd: "All Indigenous people are relying on us."
