Really lovely stories of Elvis from Sally and George Klein. No one would ever want to change Elvis, like we all say, he had it all, that's why we loved him so much. Thank you Trey
Thank you Trey! I so enjoyed hearing Sally talk about Sam and Elvis. I really enjoyed His story about Cliff too! So sad that GK is no longer with us. Seems every year we're losing the last links to Elvis. The people that were around him while he was living.
Man what a great story!!!!!! I’ve never heard of Sally either. So glad you featured this!!! In my opinion Elvis was at the top of his game in 69!!!!! TCB FOREVER
This must have been a long time ago because Mr. George Klein is gone. RIP Mr. George Klein. Loved the stories from Ms Sally Wilbourn. Yes the late Mr. Sam Phillips knew music. Thank goodness because if not for him we probably would not of had Elvis.. RIP Mr. Sam Phillips. Thanks Mr. Trey.
Elvis brought so many wonderful wonderful memories. Also I loved how MAc Davis called Elvis and sang memories on the phone to him. Mac Davis did a video to tell the story of the song memories. It’s so cute. If you haven’t seen it yet be sure to look it up.
My Daughter is taking me back to Graceland for my bday ! I was there 1986 when I was 3 months pregnant with her. I’m bringing waterproof mascara this trip will be fun but I’m a cryer when it comes to THE KING ELVIS PRESLEY 👑⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️Always Trey THANK YOU 👍🏼🙌🏼👊🏼🤝✌️
Fantastic story! Sam Phillips was brilliant when it came to music, as George Klein said he really knew his stuff, just look at his roster of singers that came from Sun Studios! Doesn’t surprise me of his respect for Sam..Elvis was so sensitive to people and knew good from bad! Sally was a delight to listen to..if only I could have been there 🙏 thanks Trey another amazing vid as always! TCB/TLC ⚡️
. .✨listening and seeing them brings tears to my eyes, it was a magical time then to be alive and they speak of it in normal ways, except sweeter. .thank you Trey🍃
Trey this was an awesome story of Elvis Presley and Vegas. I was 16 and heard about 6 and the International at Vegas. I which my family would of taken us b I lived in California and was his fan. 🥰💕👏❤👑💫🔥🍾🥂
That was brilliant I loved the story about Cliff at the end brilliant as always but Sally must have mistaken About Space Odyssey being played at the start in 69 because as you know Elvis used that theme later but brilliant anyway man. Respect to ya trey
Cool stories, other than the fact that the 2001 opening wasn't used until '71, and the few track listings from those early shows generally had him start with Blue Suede Shoes.
Yes. I agree. Sally has no clue. Polk salad Annie was sung in 1970. Space odyssey 1971. Press conference was done before the show. I thought Elvis had a huge celebrity party after the 1st show. This lady is confused.
Элвис умел быть благодарным людям, которые оказали ему содействие в его певческой карьере. А 1969 год стал для него триумфальным возвращением на сцену. Прекрасный рассказ. Спасибо тебе!
Great sentiment from the lady of course but in 1969 Elvis walked on stage to the instrumental strains of Blue Suede Shoes. 2001 Space Odyssey wasn't introduced to the show until two years later. Elvis added Polk Salad Annie to his show in early 1970.
Hello, Very nice story Sam Phillips was the best and a very very smart business man and a legend by himself he was always looking for something new in sounds and music and he did invest his money wisely to, to make him very very rich but that Space Odyssey was that not later in Las Vegas more in the 70's? And Elvis in the beginning Las Vegas years he was the untouchable King, and success with your channel.
Elvis never ever forgot those who helped him along tge the .way. I would imagine that he felt he could never repay Sam for what he,d done for him, their bond was forever. Fantastic story about Elvis being Scotty,s corner, Elvis had a such a rapport with Scotty Bill and DJ, both as friends and musicians and he knew omly to well of their talent and how they enriched his vocals, and Sam was right, what Elvis and boys had was unique, and their own, no need to change it for anyone. I would imagine Sam was first on the guest list for his 69, Vegas open night., and Sally was right a night never to be seen or heard of again, one off in history. 69 opening night, was Elvis,s night of rejuvenation, raw, ready, raucous and rebel rousing, still everything Sam had heard and seen from him in those very early Sun days. Away from live performing for almost 9 years, he,d lost nothing, and gained lots, the stage was his ready to command again and boy did he command it. He,d weathered the storm of hum drum of the obligated movie years and out of the public domain, he just wanted to show his critics he still had it. I'm certain Sam would have had watery eye even, so so proud of his boy out on that stage. Elvis thrived on approval so to have Sam in his audience that night would have made him even more determined to deliver, his gratitude for what Sam had done for him, Sam,s belief and faith in him had allowed him to fulfil his childhood dreams and he,d never forgotten it. Sally also speaks of this of night, with great pride and honour, a teatament to the man Elvis truely was. George Klein speaks of Elvis with such affection, and admiration and I'm certain he has many many amusing stories to tell about their time together throughout the years, he knew the real Elvis and just what made him tick, his loves, his laughs, his ups and his downs, a true friend until the end. Thanks Trey another great upload.

Elvis really respected Sam Phillips. Elvis knew Sam would give him good advice. When Elvis got out of the Army. He started making movies and Elvis was not Happy about all that . Once Elvis got done with that . Elvis was Elvis until he left us.The song Elvis sung I Did It My Way.. Well ELVIS DID IT HIS WAY !!! THE KING OF ROCK n ROLL.. He did Everything Better then Anyone Because he was ELVIS.
Trey, I've asked several and never have gotten an answer. Why did Elvis go to Dallas so often in the 70's? Elvis Day by Day list him going there quite a bit. This is listed before he buys his own airplanes, so it wasn't the remodeling of one of his planes etc...
TREY, also who is Michael Smith that Ginger referenced in her book? I have ask MMK and have received no answer. I have never heard of him until her book.
12:07 "Why don't they carry that show back to the International. Why don't they go back to Las Vegas and do the stage show like they do now with Elvis". Hmm..
And the song "Memories" stayed in the setlist no matter what Sally claims here...he never closed his shows from 1969-77 with that song either. Can't Help Falling In Love was the closing, except for the January/February 1971 Las Vegas season where he closed with "The Impossible Dream". And, Elvis spending the rest of the evening after the press conference after his sensational opening on July 31st 1969 in Sam Phillips' suite...really...? I think this is yet another "fake" or false recollection. Has this claim ever been fact checked? Too bad when people make up stories that obviously are wrong. Perhaps Ernst M. Joergensen's book "Elvis - Day By Day" can sheds some light on this?
I highly doubt she made the whole story up being she was definitely with Sam Phillips. Perhaps she went to a few shows over the years and the is what she remembers. It all runs together after 50 years?
@@GlobetrottingWithTrey this is definately a good example of terrible recollection. Not difficult to understand of course considering it's been 50 years since it supposedly happened. I doubt very much that Elvis spent the entire evening in Phillips' suite. For one, the show on opening night started at 10:00 pm and secondly the press conference was at 12:30 am on August 1st. Was it during the early hours of August 1st. then? I'm not saying that she's lying, only that her memories are mixed up.
@@trondgroenseth6084 Plus I don't think Elvis ever saw Sam after the 69 opening. He saw Marion in Germany and also at the JC's award show. She is the one who really discovered Elvis.
She is most definetely NOT describing opening night 1969.....her memories are off. I bet she saw Elvis several times so her memories thru the years have all melded together.
@@GlobetrottingWithTrey Trey, she's not lying, she is forgetting. She has conflated several trips to vegas into one night. yes she and Sam were probably there on opening night, but she describes songs that were not sung there until a few years later, as was 2001 theme wasn't a thing in Elvis shows until 1971. And there are a few other clues as well.
Thanks so much for bringing the past into our present. Love stories of Elvis. 👍🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻🎸

8:03 Elvis opened with Space Odyssey in 1969? I think the first time the band played that was in 1971.

Trey you remind me of a young Travis Tritt!
This sounds more like 1970 Elvis opened with Blue Suede Shoes in 1969 Polk Salad was also 1970 Memories was 1969 So this has some inaccuracies
You have to think of the lady's age, we all don't have exact memories when we get older. We got the main story and that's what counts.
I did think of the lady’s age that’s why I corrected it. Lol
