Absolutely brilliant helpful video. Looking to buy a property and the dam is REALLY muddy. I will be looking at using dam water for gardening and also for toilet flushing....not concerned about the garden, but not wanting the toilet plumbing to clog up with sediment really often, so taking measures as you have mentioned....such as erosion control and floccing etc are great to know. Thank you.
I have been watching these videos about muddy ponds for weeks now, and this is the first time i hear someone say that karp makes the pond muddy.. I have konted to 25 karps in my pond, just those i have seen at the same time.. Not to wonder why my pond is so muddy then... ❤🇸🇪
Scottie I floculated my dam using this. It made a difference for sure, but wasn't perfect but an improvement. Now dam is back where it was 3 years or so later. Mixing the product in as per sample is not really possible. I used a fire pump best I could at the time. Would a different non polymer product be worth a try?
My friend, accidentaly spilled 1 liter of a swiming ppol floculent on a 1m3 water well. Will it wears off? Will it affect the soil and the plants? Is it dangerous? Thanks
Great video. Hiwever, you're adding "aluminium" into the dam drinking water? Could that find its way into the food chain and affect us meat eaters? Asking for a friend lol.
Great Video and very informative Thank you. I wear hearing aids and its extremely difficult to hear voice through the music. Please delete the music so people with hearing difficulties can listen in comfort.
I have a small pond the water which used to be clear and also potable. But over time it has become cloudy and inspite of having a sand filter to pump the water to an overhead tank the resulting water is as muddy. So my question is if I put alum in the pond will it clear off the murkiness? what happens to the sediments that settles at the bottom will it have a negative effect in future and blocks the Veins/pores at the bottom which fills up/perclocates the ground water to fill up the pond? Can it be removed? Will the alum affect the fish and birds? And can this water be used for drinking (after flocculation with alum) using a electronic water filter. Also can it be used for bathing and washing with out filtering. Ur reply would be appreciated.. thank you
Hi Doug, Great question! Floccing frequency is hugely dependent on individual circumstances. In our experience a dam can stay settled for many months - years before it re suspends and is normally due to things like use of the dam (recreational boating, frequent swimming) or a environmental trigger (extreme weather event or a species of animal enters it and stirs it up - like Carp or Yabbies).
Hi Dakota, We're sorry that the music is distracting to you. If you would prefer, you can view articles we have written about floccing dams here: waterqualitysolutions.com.au/?s=floc&submit=Search
The acoustics of the room are shocking too, also adding to the difficulty in hearing the spoken words. Maybe consider hanging a blanket or two in room if the room is all flat, reflective surfaces like that one.
So you’re calling a pond a dam? Is that an Australian thing? A dam is a barrier used to contain the water in a pond or lake, but I’ve never heard the actual body of water called a dam.
Yes here in Australia a dam is what you have in a paddock on a farm. It is also a generic term for a reservoir. A pond is something you have in your garden stocked with goldfish...lol
I suspect a pond is a depression in the ground without an embankment. Here in dry old Oz, stock watering dams usually catch runoff water from rain so there built where the water flows to, like a gully and usually three walls will be high above ground level to "dam" the water in. So the word dam in Australia is appropriate.
Fantastic video. I'll be doing some tests myself in a week or two so this is very helpful.
Glad we could be of help Simon! :)
Feel free to get in touch if you need any assistance with your testing.
Ive learnt heaps from your videos. Thanks for making them
Good information unfortunately music is too loud over voice
I love the music. ❤
Can't hear anything lol. So what to do?
You need to remove the backing track. It's too loud and distracting.
Great video thanks but being hearing impared the music overlay meant lots of rewinding to understand what you were saying .
Lot of great information, being musically minded I was trying my best to focus on your amazing experience.
Thank you.
Fantastic, orderly, logical explanation of this subject!
great video, exactly what I was looking for
Can i make a suggestion , turn the music down .

hi, is it safe for fish?
Coagulation and Flocculation. Neutralize particle charges which allows for more efficient flocculation.

Can it be done with a pump and filter system?
God !!!! What's with background music ??????????
Bonus to the dj
Thanks for the informative video, great music but unfortunately distracting. 🙂
Ive got 3 red heelers that love swimming in mine so i guess its always going to be muddy water,at least they dont crap in or around it
Is the treatment safe for dogs drinking it plse???
Aren’t there any native plants that can help retain and maintain the water and levels?

No by the time it get to people house the chemical will slowly fade away but mostly they have filter to filter alum away with floc

0:29 I am doing this for high school chemistry 😆😂
A dam can only sustain so many yabby’s if you make a nesting place for him out of some PVC they will all be in there and won’t borrow
turn music of far out
How do u stir a million litres? Great video very informative

Have you back flushed regularly or changed sand? Add beneficial bacteria to the pond. Use pond clarifier.
Is this process safe for fish (silver perch)?
Thanks. Very informative video. Lose the elevator music though, as it drowns out your voice and makes it frustrating to listen to.
Yes I see it works but do I have to keep treating my farm pond Everytime it rains or will it keep working ?

Enjoying the informational video, hating the pointlessly distracting music
WHAT???? I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE MUSIC!!
Music made me not want to watch this after a few mins.
Hard to listen to you with music in background

@@WayneMcKenzie So can you have a dam in your dam?
@@xSteve1983x yes but we call it a dam wall :)
background music is annoying
Appalling sound quality. It doesn't matter how good the information is if your viewers can't hear it. No excuse.
