How to Get Rid of Sludge in Dams (with Biostim-100% natural)

G'day. In this video I run you through our recommended treatment for breaking down sludge on the floor of dams and ponds. It's a biological treatment called Biostim. You can think of Biostim (BIOlogical STIMulant) as a probiotic for "good" microbes. The pellets (also available in powder and liquid) are 100% natural and are a food source for these "good" guys who break down sludge. These "good" microbes also consume a lot of nutrients in the water that feed algae and weeds. So by having more "good" microbes you'll have less algae and weeds (or none at all). These "good" microbes also outcompete (and kill off) "bad" microbes that cause odour. So removing sludge is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the benefits of a biological treatment like Biostim.

With ongoing use it can help eradicate all pests including Duckweed, but also other aquatic weeds and algae. Just to be clear, it's not a herbicide though.
