  • The method displayed in this video is the only method vaild for 2008+ cars, it does work on -2008 cars beside another method (a little bit easier) where you take out the door handle instead of the window slide.

Well done. Did this last week. The WIS method has the front glass channel and the glass panel removed, so this way is less work. Two suggestions: remove the window control module from the trim panel (easy) and leave it connected to the wiring; use a piece of tape on the top of the window to make it easier to pull it up to re-connect it to the window lift. Also, the door lock module can be disassembled and repaired. The pin connections between the motor and the board loose contact. You just bend/twist the pins to make contact and then put it back together with screws where the plastic rivets were.

I searched soooo long for a tutorial like this. But now I find it 2 months too late. Thanks UA-cam. I Actually found that you don't need to remove the window. You just have to move it up and down a bit to get the rail back in place.

Great help! Thank you! I had a lock on a 2009 Saab 9-3 that has never worked as long as I've had the car for the past 5 years. Now it's working. I found it was critical to get the "straw" as far into the lock cylinder as possible. Once I did that and soaked it several times, with carb and choke cleaner, it finally started turning. Huge piece of mind to have a functioning lock in the event that the fob doesn't work or the battery dies with the doors locked.

Thank you for the nice videos. I've used your way to fix my front and rear passenger door. I can't help but say it's so nice to find this channel to fix my father's saab 93. I've learned a lot from you.

Typey1 Thanks, it’s a very common failure, you can get away without removing the window pieces on -2007 cars, but it is a must on 2008+ ..

Typey1 that’s usually the first signs, when it’s sunny and warm outside tend to stop working because the motor is already overheated, or after you look/unlock few times stops working.
Eventually will completely stop with no codes stored

There are nine billion eight hundred and fifty two million four hundred and sixty three thousand and two videos on UA-cam (I know, because I have watched nearly all of them) but this is the only one that shows the dismantling of the window to get the blooming lock out of the blooming door of a Saab 9-3.
My lock still works... but hesitates and causes the only SID on the whole car (Lock System Failure... contact Service), so it is a fix I must undertake... If I had been recording my fix it would be 8 hours long by now and I am still not half way through it, nor do I have a plan B replacement... and the washing line is holding the door closed... so I am buggered when her indoors goes to do a wash... this might very well be my last ever post!

I’ve got a lock cylinder to replace, (2010 9-3 XWD) and my first attempt I couldn’t quite figure out how to get the cylinder itself out. The door will lock with the hard key, but is frozen when trying to unlock with it. Any suggestions? I followed WIS but it lead me to a dead end.

U can remove the rear door trim panel easily with the door shut, and from there reach with ur hand into the lock levers and find which one opens it

-Cyru5- well, there is no easy way to do it other than removing the inner panel from inside (which may require the removal of the seat) and then destructing the door lock (i used a hammer 😬)

    • @cyrus13383

I apologise. The customer informs me three doors are locked shut. The only reason drivers door works is because of the key. Possibly a different module?! Customer would just be happy to get passenger door operable.
