The creators of this show realty really lucked out with Hugh Laurie. His musical talents added more of a true genius vibe to the character to what we know now. I dont think the writers/director/whoever could have tired or even wish getting any other talented actor than Laurie to fit the role.
@@BobbyGeee yes. The person who said that was actually responsible for the casting. Hugh convinced him that he was native to the US. They wanted an actual American to play the role of House. He didn't find out that Hugh is from England until after he already casted him to be House.
i mean honestly it is a statement piece. says he likes music, but hints at things like phantom of the opera, gospel choir, Motown, etc. states an eclectic yet sophisticated musical taste, and the old wood frame denotes a more traditionalist aesthetic in an otherwise fairly modern room, showing appreciation for history/the past. sort of the musical equivalent of a writer owning an old fashioned typewriter, or a doctor have a vintage copy of gray's anatomy or a victorian era transfusion kit in their office. also it says a lot that wilson has just accepted House as a permanent malignant tumor in his social life and said "well if he's gonna always be here just to drive me crazy, it may as well be musical..."
This is probably the only time you'll see House genuinely happy. I know music does the same for me. I like how Wilson basically got that as a gift for him. I miss this show.
he's very loyal, a great friend to someone who's even as complicated or annoying as house will come through. he knows him by heart, and care about him beyond words. All of that is said with the piano and I'm sorry that's just a brilliant scene!! House trying to teach him to be better for himself, Wilson listening accepting what he has to teach....
My grandma had this exact organ that her and grandpa bought after they married. She was a music teacher at the church and the church’s pianist. She wanted it to go to my sister, who is among other things, a bloomin’ idiot. I went to her house a month later and asked where it was. She said she sold it on Craigslist for $300. It took a long time for me to speak to her again because every time I tried my rage took over and I wanted to slap her. But this reminded me of my grandma playing anything I could think of.

@@peterthirdandthebridges no man, a organ is not the same as a piano, and a piano is not the same as a harpsichord, you play them the same at some extent. Is the same if you say a electrical guitar is the same as a classical guitar
@@miguelpires6325 okay well this is an easy one. I play guitar, electric, acoustic and classical. They are all the same instrument. @@peterthirdandthebridges I assure you organs are not pianos. I have actually played [cinema] organs that have a piano attached to them, but they surely are different. “Real organs” are winded and feature air forced through pipes or different, sizes, shapes, and construction methods, whereas pianos have strings and hammers. The similarities end at the fact they are keyboard instruments and play the notes of the scale. This of course is an electronic home organ, a Hammond here, which uses electronic tone generation to mimic organ sounds, but at the end of the day, pianos and organs are not the same, and it saddens me, genuinely, to see how many people do not know the difference or assert there is none. As for playing, techniques are rather different, pianos feature strike force, organs one can push the key as hard as they want and only get one sound, unless the organ has “2nd Touch” where pushing harder will trigger an extra sound. I for instance cannot really play a piano, but love to sit down at an organ and couple the piano, xylophone, and other winded organ stops together. But put me at a regular piano and I struggle with pushing too hard and holding down keys.
I am absolutely enraged at the missed pun. It's a frigging organ. You could have called it "favorite organ scene in House M.D." Get it? Organs? Doctors? Hospitals?
@@peterthirdandthebridges they aren’t at all. A piano used strings, an organ uses air through pipes. Pianos have between 66-88 keys depending on size, a full size organ has 61 keys. I could go on, but you can get an idea how different they are. They may look vaguely similar, but the only thing that is similar are the keys, but that’s like saying a recorder is a type of clarinet
