WINGS ERA was so ahead of its time. Even if it was released in this era, people are still not ready of this level of artistry.
agree
I think you'd get along so well with Namjoon! He's the biggest reader of the group and, of course, one of the main songwriters. They have some brilliant minds in the group, for sure!
Lory, "Blood, Sweat and Tears" made me army. BTS makes you think when you listen to their music. They're great.
Wait until you hear about the WINGS SHORT FILMS & HYYH PLOTLINE
This is what sets BTS apart for me- so many of their songs have truly deep and powerful meanings.
Wings and MOTS 7 were Grammy Material
It was this explanation video of BS+T that led me down the ARMY rabbit hole (Black Swan was the final push)-I ate it up and watched it multiple times. The level of artistry and interweaving of philosophy and art that Bangtan accomplished truly astounded me.
And the explanation video doesn't even cover all of it. Like she mentioned, every piece of art has a meaning and that means anything from the ceiling painting to the statue behind J-Hope; EVERYTHING! The more you dive into it the more you'll be astounded. It's definitely well deserved that this masterpiece (the song, the MV and the album alike) is the one that earned them their first Daesang sweep.
I truly believe that the depth they display in both their music, lyrics and imagery is a huge reason as to why they are able to attract an audience of such diversity, especially age wise.
BS&T is a part of the storyline, the BU/Bangtan Universe. If ever you feel like looking deeper into that you won't be disappointed. I've honestly never seen or read anything like it. It's an incredibly complex story with sociology, psychology and mythology rolled into one with a bit of supernatural sprinkled on top. It's absolutely mindblowingly intricate and it's still on-going to this day. (It's also currently being made into a K-drama series but sadly not with the BTS members in the roles but I'm still reeeally excited to watch it! 🤩)
I hope you'll watch the Spring Day MV soon including the explanation video by Italian ARMY (linked below) because that one is just as equally stunning imo, albeit for very different reasons. It's been on the South Korean Gaon Chart for six years so far and for very good reasons. (Bring lots of tissues - the explanation is a tough one to get through. 😢)

Wow I have listened to this before, I left school so young I did not study literature, but English was a subject absolutely love and never failed. I am now at 77 am going to study literature. Thankyou for something else I have learned from BTS. I believe Jimin produced Blood Sweat and Tears and had alot to do with this production. 💜
Lory, you are welcome home with us. I guessed you were one of us, and your love of meaning, symbolism and lyricism sheds from every pore, so, without wanting to assume anything about you, I believed that you belong with us, probably before you even had an inkling. I'm so glad to have you here.
I think you found an excellent explanation for this MV - much simpler and more direct than the one I saw years ago, so it has been a gift for me as well.Thank you.
And, the dance practice, of course. There must be hundreds of these, and they are all the same standard - as well as the behind the scenes where they are breaking loose and are hilarious in studio moments, just being altogether human and inviting us to join them. I'm re-reading their book, 'BTS Beyond the Story' which is hefty and I refer to as The Brick. It explores their history from recruitment, through training and then their career until 2022ish. The author describes a phenomenon common in Kpop called 'overperformance' which apparently is performance of such precision and perfection that it appears impossible in human form.
Excellent and skilled as many Kpop artists are, few can do it consistently and 'with ease'. I've seen Stray Kids do it - never a foot out of place, every digit perfectly balanced etc - but I've seen many others fall away, fade just slightly from the exact symmetry. BTS are extraordinarily good - but in The Brick, we also learned that Bang Si Hyuk (and BTS themselves) would review training video and point out the angle of any finger which was not held correctly, assess the height of every foot when they jumped in the air. Review, rinse, repeat. Knowing all that goes into this, it is too easy to think, yes, well, this is just what BTS do. I confess I do that : I should not. Thank you once again.
As for the symbolism and deeper meanings of BTS' songs - well, that's another thing. I cannot tell you how deeply I value the depth of their work, not only in terms of the story, but also the layers of meaning which inhabit the music (not my strong point since I am a bit deaf) but also the lyrics, design, visuals, and even the atmosphere of an MV or a track. But Much Too Often I accept simply too easily. It's made even easier to do this because they hold their skills so lightly. And many of these tracks are old friends now. We should not take our old friends for granted, and it is a beautiful thing to meet them anew with a new acquaintance. So many 'Thank yous' - it's all joyful. As are the tears.
Thank you so much for your amazing words and explanation! Yes, I love symbolism and hidden meanings. I love reading as well, and finding new points of view. 💜💜💜 I am a baby Army 100%. 💜💜💜 baby cause i still have a lot to learn and see.
As usual, love the way you react to BTS. Blood, Sweat and Tears is one of my favorites, don't know how many times I've seen it, but never tire of it. The explanation video was a new view for me , it was a good one. See you soon .💜
Besides their amazing songs, visuals, MVs, etc, BTS has so many more layers to them. This is just ONE of many! I don't even want to go into the Bangtan Universe (BU) because that's a whole other level/layer altogether. Not to mention the drama will be coming out soon...Hopefully.
Covid delayed production, but we'll eventually get it. Apo Bangpo 💜
We are drawn to BTS for a reason but mostly stay/become an ARMY for another one 😊
This is a great explanation. I feel a bit different about the statue and V, but I also don’t think she’s necessarily wrong. Another reactor made a comment that V was under a sheet much like a statue and was unveiled that way as well. That has stuck with me and has made me think a lot about the kiss of the winged statue, V’s wing scar reveal, and Jin subsequently cracking and how it all ties into the theme of temptation. It’s a whole thing that has been rolling around my brain for quite awhile now. lol
I’m so glad you enjoy all of the subtleties and underlying meanings in their MVs. Lumpen directs a lot of their videos and he was on this one as well. I’m always impressed by how many small details he fits in. It’s so cool to watch a video a million times and then suddenly get smacked upside the head with a detail you never noticed before.
I love them so much, and I love symbolism.
THANK YOU SIR PARK JIMIN FOR COMPOSING THÉ MELODY FOR BST.
FOR YOUR GETTING THE TITLE OF MASTER OPENING . KNOWING HIM AS A KILLING PARTS KING. ITS WAS MEANINGFUL SONG & VERY GOOD MV. THEIR MV ARE AS ALWAYS 👍👍
They are amazing! 💜
You should watch fake love explanation video by xCeleste too
Por coisas assim que BTS é considerado o melhor grupo.
Suas músicas não são superficiais, tem verdadeiros significados que de fato tocam profundamente.
Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. So glad u saw the explanation. It's really cool. I love this song a lot. It's one of my fav's. Also, the MV is just brilliant. =0} Loved hearing about ur synchronicity. BTS is like that. Love the dance practice. I was also 0.0 kind of shoock seeing it because they leave so much out in the MV. I hope u watch the behind the scenes too. JHope says they are trying to be sexy for this song. I freaking perished what does he mean trying?! lmao. - 2019 ARMY NY USA 💜
Hi, I see your reaction to Fake Love. You absolutely have to see the explanation to that mv. Most of the BTS mv have a very deep inner meaning. Like Spring day, Black Swan, ON, Lourde than Bombs, Mic drop, etc. If you're interested, see those mv explanation. Well came to the world of BTS and ARMY'S. BORAHAE. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜.
Thank you so much! 💜
@@lorydannagr A very warm welcome dear. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜.
Not sure if my comment isn’t appearing cuz I added a link. So I’m gonna comment again without the link. Just search bts blood sweat tears parody. The boys created a parody of this mv. They’re so silly and it’s so funny. There’s a one with the original side by side so you can see the scene comparison lol
12:59 I think no one would expects BTS to be deep 😂
I seriously thought they're just a generic band
Same 🙈
@@lorydannagr Are you keeping track of BTS Era's? Cause I think it's important to track BTS Era's when listening to their music, since they're story telling their journey
Blood Sweat and Tears is from WINGS Era, where they started to go global year 2016
Love Yourself Era, is when they got their international fame. 2017-2018
& Black Swan if from Map of the Soul 2019, when pandemic struck
BE is more on their pandemic experience
I am very confused about the erras, to be honest. I am just enjoying them. I do nit want to make discovering BTS like a school assignment. I would stop enjoying it. I need to take it at my own pace and order. 💜
Hi, nice reaction. If you enjoy fireworks, please react to BTS 10th anniversary fireworks show live. You won’t be disappointed. The most beautiful fireworks show I’ve ever seen in my life.

Oooooh you would find Namjoon's reading list fascinating!
Really? 💜💜💜
@@lorydannagryup..he is a big time reader
I think him and I would be great friends! 💜
@@lorydannagr Yoongi too is a reader…i think more of psychology…if im not mistaken he mentioned he studies psychology so he can help others. honestly, all the guys have seen clips reading abook or something. and I noticed they like philosophy, literature, psychology, economics ,fiction etc.
They are more amazing with every video 💜💜💜
Thats how also made me a BTS fan, their music is so freaking deep and the meaning is just so unvelievabably out of this world. So many symbolism in every detail of their music , their MVs, there is always meaning for everything they say in their songs, it puzzles you but when you figured it out , it does really make sense and it blows you away. That's another mechanism and traits when it comes to music that BTS has but you can't find or lacking to any other groups .
@@abbiem7773 Well said and definitely agree !! When i discovered BTS , I discovered thru Suga's Daechwita. I wasnt really into rap i never like rap before, i have to be honest i was captivated first with Yoongi's visual and the aggrresiveness. Lyrics was 2nd to me that time. But when i listened the Daechwita explained both by DKDTV and tbat bookish explanation, I was really stunned and couldn't believe how deep and big that song was , with so many korean historical reference and Yoongi's life i was blown away how deep the meaning of that song. Then Spring Day , i had really a goose bump the first time i learned the Spring Day explanation , i had no idea that it was reffered to that ferry tragedy where 300+ drowned , oh my God ! There so many symbolism in that song .
Then Blood Sweet and tears, this time , it really solidify me and since then i became a bts army 4 yers ago .
@@abbiem7773 what year did you become a BTS fan?
The bookish theories breakdown videos explaining the 2019 MMA performance is just as deep. It blew my mind. If you are interested in deeper meanings and symbolism as well as literature references, definitely check out her videos. She breaks down stray kids and ateez videos as well, along with other groups.
Oh really??? What am I getting into? 🙈💜
@lorydannagr yes, she's an Italian ARMY making these amazing explanation videos. There's 2 parts to their 2019 MMA stage:

well we said rabbit whole u know never ending, lol. @@lorydannagr
Oh also the Japanese version is trippy af (both part of the BU (bangtan universe) which is their really deep dark complex storyline 😅)
Most of their songs have layered meanings, but this one is indeed a deep dive. Their songs usually have a surface meaning that is universal, deeper stories that are personal to them, a layer under that which is a more nuanced dive into things like history, philosophy, psychology, etc, and sometimes also story clues and context relating to the BU (Bangtan Universe) all in the same song. Their MVs add another layer to the art in terms of the clues and storytelling going on visually. Add to that their choreography which is not just dope moves, but nuanced performance art storytelling, with moves related to the themes and lyrics. Add to that the fact that the song structures themselves can tell part of the story, like a song done in all downbeat minor chords which is about being caught in lies you tell yourself which has a major, soaring and uplifting chord on the chorus which is itself a lie within the song. Or a song about the 7 of them continuing to make music together and be with ARMY, which is full of unusual 7th chords. Or a pause and silence in the song instrumentation when the lyrics say "I take a breath." Or a song that uses basketball sounds as all the percussion, like sneaker squeaks, ball sounds, etc. Add to that their short films and other media like their mobile game and webtoons and books and so forth that continue their stories.
They.
Are.
Geniuses.
The choreography in B,S&T is seductive because there is a seduction taking place. It is the guys who are being seduced away from their childhood by the temptations of the adult world. Ultimately, they must surrender to the darkness because that is how you grow up, by letting go of the innocence of childhood like Jin lets go of the balloon. It's melancholy to embrace the dark and say goodbye to childhood, but you don't plunge into the dark headfirst, you add it to the light as a duality. Just as Jin embraced Abraxis, the god of both Good and Evil, Light and Darkness, we all must carry that duality within us, the chaos, the shadows, that allows us to be fully realized adult people capable of growth and creativity or giving "birth to the dancing star." Once they surrender and the blindfold comes off, they are not left in that black and white world of the duality. Instead, the world bursts with new colors, the creative expression of which they are now capable. In the end Jin sees the shell of childhood cracking as his new self begins to emerge.
This song is off the masterpiece album Wings, which is all inspired by Demian. But so many of their songs and albums are masterpieces and every album is a concept album with a story to tell and they ask you to listen to tracks in order because they are in a storytelling order. Albums are based on psychological theory, or philosophy, or life stages and passages or personal struggles and experiences. The Most Beautiful Moment in Life series is about that moment between adolescence and adulthood, when you have to make real decisions as young adults, and the turbulence and challenges of those times. Jimin's album Face and BTS album BE are both pandemic albums, full of their pandemic struggles as well as the things that got them through. RM's album Indigo is the story of his 20s, triumphs, fears, lessons learned. Jungkook's album Golden and BTS album series Love Yourself all explore love in various ways, phases and types. V's album Layover tells a story of escaping and creating a virtual fantasy world where he can be together with BTS and ARMY, as told through songs about love, loss and longing. And so on....
There is SOOOOO much more for you to discover. I'm so glad you have joined us here in our cozy rabbit warren. BTS is love. ARMY is love.
Borahae!
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you so much! 💜💜
nods!
Lory you just fit right into our realm 😊
Since you studied literature, i think you will like the BTS Universe storyline and HYYH especially they Bang PD mentioned they want to do something for 10th year anniversary of HYYH era when they come back. Me as an ArMY who didn’t experience real time that era, is really looking forward what they plan to take on the story..cuz I want a happy ending and closure.
Oh also the Japanese version is trippy af (both part of the BU (bangtan universe) which is their really deep dark complex storyline 😅)
So freaking trippy. I watched it not at all prepared for what it was and just sat there staring at the screen after I did.
You should 100% start the bts storyline in order , you will be blown away!!!!!!
I used to avoid BTS thinking it's superficial just about dancing handsome man singing about love songs.
But I have to admit I'm so glad I was so wrong about them. And now that their songs are deep, I've come to realize that even their love songs are not even about romantic poppy love. It has different meanings that could be taken depending what perspective you consider.
Same, and they are so much deeper than I expected
yep they smart guys@@lorydannagr
HAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAH 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "I AM LOSING MY INOCENCE HERE" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Lory you got me laughing so hard!! But yes, as I told you, Blood sweat and tears was one of the first song that I heard and I was so impressed by this art that BTS are creating! - The whole meaning of it, the lyrics, the song, the outfits, the atmosphere and THE COREOGRAPHY are just out of this world! Everything is so precise and with rich flavour.....A MASTERPIECE is the only word that can describe "Blood sweat and tears" by BTS. Thank you for your reaction Lory, it made me laugh, cry and just feel good ☺😘 I purple you!🤗💜
I’m happy it made you laugh! 💜💜💜
this music video doesn't only revolve around Demian.. if you look into the description, there's a statement that says "BU certified" or something..
BU or BTS Universe is a fiction story that runs through multiple music videos including Fake Love.. a lot of ARMYs don't want to dive into it tho cause it's very confusing. but if you want to make theories of your own, I can give you a list of the videos
but if you wanna focus on the music first, that's OK too.. BU is intimidating
fun fact: they already made a drama out of BU, it have not been released yet tho
If this amazed you, then wait until you watch "Spring Day" MV and it's explanation. 😁
(A recommendation for the future.)
💜💜💜
Will def watch 💜
@@lorydannagr bring 2 rolls of tissue on Spring Day explanation Lory
Pffffffffff….I tend to think that you all love to see me cry. 😂😂😂
@@lorydannagr we just cry with you
Spring Day is a bit of a right of passage. It's almost like an inauguration into knowing not only BTS, but ( a little bit) Korea and the Korean people. Yes, and we ALL still cry, Every Single Time.
Make an appointment with your husband to give you a huge bear hug for 20 minutes afterwards. In fact, see if he will watch it with you. Why should you cry alone....
thank you for reacting to this! and the ARMY who rec'd it cause I didn't know this existed and I'm soooo happy it does!!! of all the Demian + BS%T connections this one's the best that I've seen so far, to me also the characters in the book are parts of himself ahhh I'm so happy I watched this reaction and now Ik of this explanation vid
They have explanations for several of their videos. You saw Idol. There are for Fake Love, Spring Day, Baepsae, Run, Pied Piper 😂
BTS truly will impress you intellectually. So much so that there are now annual multi day multi disciplinary academic conference on JUST BTS. A harvard law review paper cited BTS even.
What? That is amazing! 💜💜💜
cool
Are you interested in starting the BU? Some of the scenes in the explanation video are from the BU so it would be good to see those too
I am not sure yet. I have a lot on my list. 💜
I still maintain that if this MV should have earned them their first Grammy. It's a shame that Western awards shy away from the more meaningful work and prefer to only give attention to the work that most closely aligns with the image those institutions are most comfortable promoting. Something like this was a marvel of artistry and creativity but those shows make an effort to ignore that sort of work most of the time (even for Western acts).
I love all of BTS's sides (meaningful and simply fun songs) it's just a shame when one side gets most of the recognition and the public who doesn't know better have a watered down idea of the group (i.e. that they only make XYZ sort of music and never get as much exposure to the other sides which have just as much value). It irritates me that I found this song so many years after it came out because the general public just never get to have stuff like this earnestly shown in the mainstream.
Then you have people complaining that music is getting worse and saying there aren't any iconic musicians coming out anymore. Meanwhile so much of the impressive stuff from most artists (even the ones on charts) get hidden away and you have to hunt it down yourself. If ARMY wasn't so loud about our love for BTS and if we didn't act as their main promotional vehicle, they'd have been stifled too. I'm glad that they are finding people little by little over time.

"I'm going to cry a bit more because of happiness". I know exactly how you feel!
This is my favorite explainer for this song and the one I recommend to others.
The dance. You know the monkey, see no evil, hear no evil, do no evil.. they r doing those but its so satisfying to watch, and sexy. Not scary @ all.
You know Dante 14:25 😃. I named my son after him. Most people don’t make the connection to him and think I named him after the soccer player or the character in devil may cry 😏. Great reaction 💜
I read Dante. I have a BA in English and Romanian. And we study Universal literature as well. 💜 I read Homer as well (Iliad and Odyssey).
So all this symbolism hidden in a MV and music and lyrics…it’s like speaking to me. 😂
@@lorydannagr oh I’m really happy for you! You’ll find so much joy and inspiration with bangtan and army. You’ll never, really never run out of new things to discover. From bts and solo stuff as well. My first bts related thing I heard was Jhopes solo album jack in the box, very rap heavy, introspective, the intro starts with the pandora myth, I went down the rabbit hole so fast and now I basically live there 😂. Today, after 18 months with them, I ordered my army bomb.
I still have so much to watch from them, I need to hurry because Jin will be back so soon
