SKY is the acronym for the top 3 universities in S Korea, Seoul National, Korea University and Yonsei. Basically if you do not get into one of those 3 schools you are doomed in the eyes of parents and, unfortunately, most students feel the same.
It's honestly so brave to pick topics that challenge kids to think for themselves instead of following blindly what their parents say when you live in a culture where what the adults say goes...no question. Then to go so far as to question the unquestionable (education and work) when your target audience is teens and it's likely to piss off adults took some guts. Especially when you already come from a small company that is depending on your success to stay afloat and keep everyone else employed. It was a risky thing to pull. I'm glad that they always put the message first. This song could have easily been hidden as a B-side to get the message to the kids while hiding it from the general public in Korea to avoid backlash. Instead they said no. This is going to be a title track and we'll go on TV to promote this so more people can hear this message even if they don't become fans and buy the album.
No more Dream was their first MV.N.O if i am not mistaken is talking about the school system in Korea and mentioned in the lyrics SKY which i think is one of the schools or i guess a few schools?
To give you some more context too. In South Korea they have some of the highest su*c*de rates, especially for younger people, in the world. A huge portion of this is how much pressure the society puts on them & how much they put in studying & doing well. While it isn’t just the kids who just feel this, adults in Korea feel like they have to work super hard every day. Their was an interview RM did (sorry I can’t remember where) but he basically said that South Korea use to not be talked about & their history isn’t good/poorer & when they finally got democracy which was in 1948. It has been less then a century & South Korea has become one of the top & leading counties in the world or at least aiming that way…that is crazy but that could only happen with how hard the citizens work. Also it is pretty crazy & remarkable to me that a group from a company that financially didn’t have a ton of money or resources; allowed a group of young men to write & produces their own music but also be willing to release music like No More Dream & No which is going basically against the system. I mean they were pretty ballsy. P.S. the white stairs & statue hands will be important to remember for other BTS songs/performances 😉
My recommendation for your future reaction Cypher pt3 and ugh live at busan concert and outro tear live performance these are rap line songs the live performance was amazing hope you watch it 💜
Where they’re on the steps they do a throwback to that in their 2020 MAMA performance but where Suga stands they leave a gap for him as he was absent due to having surgery, just telling you this as I was gonna suggest this performance to react to. No more dream was their first video. 💜
@@Imme_begin | They are in order. No More Dream is first, then WAB Pt2, then this one, N.O. were their first three MVs. After that was Just One Day. Then came Danger and War of Hormone.
Hi, thank you for all your reactions! I would like to mention few songs, very well known to Army that you may enjoy a lot: - “Love wins all” from IU, which is featuring V in the video, just came out few weeks ago and is winning all awards. I believe Army all are in love with that video with Tae and IU, plus the song is stunning. - “That that” from PSY and Suga (very fun and catchy; Suga is the producer) - “Butter” performance live at the Grammy (I still can’t get over the performance). I hope you will enjoy it!
no no, it's their third MV. First one was No More Dream (NMD) their debut track and the 2nd MV was We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2 (WAB Pt 2), they were promoting those 2 songs on their debut TV presentations, their both on their 1st mini album 2 cool 4 skool.. N.O. (that stands for no offense) was the title track of their 2nd mini album?? don't think it's called an album technically O!RUL8,2? (this song sadly flopped) and on TV they were promoting it with Attaack on Bangtan but they have no MV for it, all of this on 2013.*** edit: the song that flopped is NO, orul82 is their album name
Honestly, their songs are all so good that it's just a factor of the industry and authority suppression and the hate campaigns that their early stuff was not doing as well as it should have been. They all stand up to the test of time and are still so good. Dark & Wild didn't do nearly as well as they needed it to and it's a masterpiece.
@@NanciBK I could cry abt Dark & Wild! I stream songs from that album every day on my pl's til today. Just yest. I saw on twt the 'gallup' top 5 ranking for best songs in 2013? Ofc the tannies nowhere to be found and @ Nº 3 there was a song I didn't know existed called Bar bar bar? I think, or maybe that's the name of the band, not sure but.................. it made sense ppl were bewildered by the boys. It's a detail none of the labels hoping to get the same results as Bangtan take into account. They follow step by step their moves out of SK but don't realize it took them years to build their path til they kicked the doors open and it was organic. We actually love their music! sure there are Dynamite+post Dynam. newer fans, ppl who now find em on reels and ttoks BUT they became huge gradually and before Dynam. Their discography is chef's kiss
@fi0rella Exactly! They fought for every inch of their success and still do. Just this week, solos/antis on JK vids telling me no one else in BTS can sing, let alone sing and dance at the same time, and no one else is talented. One of them told me not to "dirty JKs videos by mentioning that fake, lip synching group of hacks"
@@fi0rella But yes .... the music is amazing, and they won their fans with it, not with ad campaigns and marketing, nor looks nor styling nor glitz nor gimmicks. Actually the opposite, with honesty and genuiness and candid sharing of the gritty and hard stuff and their blood, sweat and tears. They are musical geniuses, and honest people in the global music industry admit that. Add to that the depth of their storytelling, the levels of their performance talent, the synergy of them together, their authenticity in the self direction of their art, their substance and the depth of their personal characters, how much they truly love us and each other, how they are never afraid to be themselves everywhere, the example they set, the fact they have stayed so humble and so chaotic and silly and innocent (the duality!), their courage to speak truth to power and speak and act on issues that matter, their classiness in staying above the haters and answering with their music, the way they keep surprising us, their insane work ethic and seriousness and professionalism about the work.....no one is doing it like Bangtan. No one ever has and no one ever will again. You can't replicate all that they are.

I love N.O... great message and I'm biased for rap line...RM goes so hard here...
BTS didn't have much money back then to create an esthetic video like that, I'm impressed ❤

They were honestly so brave. And the company trusted them so much taking into consideration they all had nothing to begin with.
