Hi I also have a 91 pickup with NO AC. But I would like to get one installed. I see that the person before you added one but from a 88 or older. I wanted to ask you what would you recommend I do to get a whole AC system installed and with minimal to no modification? And honestly I’m not too familiar with the pickups and what not...so I wouldn’t even know ALL THE PARTS I would need to have this installed fully functional....please help if you can bud????
That is wild about the hack job adapting an 88-older A/C kit onto your pickup! The crimped condenser line looks worrisome. That may be hard to get to, for soldering. Also is it restricted?
No, fortunately it doesn't really appear restricted, and the system certainly did work well when it worked. I believe it was a factory bend to point the fitting straight down, so it was just twisted a bit to aim it slightly forward to match up the the line that connects to it. Without having ever seen another one, I cannot really say for sure how it looked originally. But it doesn't look like something you'd expect as OEM. Can aluminum be soldered? That would be great! ;)
@@realvanman1 It's hard when something's a one-off and you're not sure what the components really were supposed to look like. As for the aluminum tubing, it can definitely be soldered. The process is a little different than soldering cuprous alloys, so you should practice first. This may help... ua-cam.com/video/9hLBAUKqP4M/v-deo.html Although that repair was an easy one out in the open, not in a crease.
I can’t find the damn magnetic compressor clip on mine! Any advice? Did this “hack” just wire a new one to the relay?

I hope you replaced that condenser.
The old one isn’t clipped in and broken off but now I can’t find the clip or wire for it lol

What year is your truck?
Thanks!
What year is this for
Condenser is cheap compared to “trying” to fix and fail. Hope you just replaced it.
Came here to find out how to install... No info really... Ah well thanks anyway?
Sorry, it was just an update for a friend who’d been helping me out with the project. I should have set it to “private”.
