Played this with my surf band back in the 60's and was a blast to play (still is!). I always felt this song really captured the essence of the sport of surfing like no other. Thanks for your perfectly executed rendition.
Speaking for the minority here, I only vaguely recognized this tune, I didn't know it or the Chantays by name, and knowing very little of Johnny Thunders I didn't know his version either. But your lessons continually broaden my horizons. Little did I know when I googled "Cinnamon Girl guitar lesson" so very long ago that I'd end up learning surf music and rockabilly in the bargain. I started working on this one today, a great fun tune, and another great lesson.
Thanks to your surf videos I’ve totally gotten into this genre now. So much fun! And you can tell the surfy bear people I bought one of their pedals because of you 😊
Back to listening to this again and I think you still have the best, closes to the original version on UA-cam....although I like the different versions by other You Tube guitarists, also.
Love the "surf guitar" sound! Reminds me of the type of music my older brother played back in the early-mid 60's. I'd like to hear about that red Vox amp you have.
Hey, thanks for posting this! I've been trying to learn this song for a couple of weeks now. I was wondering when you were going to post this on your channel, lol! I learned how to play Link Wray's "Rumble" watching your channel. Some of these songs aren't as easy to learn as they sound. I used play punk rock tunes and that was pretty straightforward but surf guitar is a bit different because it forces me to actually slow down and learn how to play. Thanks again!
Junior Brown also covers this with his 3 song medley called : Surf medley with his steel guit guitar whish is an electric guitar with a lap steel guitar molded into one instrument but anyway brilliant playin on your vid as usual your one hell of a guitar player.
Thank you for this guitar classic Adrian. You might like Michael Fix’s acoustic version, where he plays rhythm and lead, or check out Gary Hoey for something completely different.
Oh, this is great! I like the tune since I heard the cover by German Thrash-Metal band Assassin over 30 years ago, that was before Anthrax did it I think.
wow one of my favourites! ive been interested in learning sneaking around by chet atkins, and i thought that it would be the kind of thing that you might be interested in teachin. it would be realy appreciated, much lovexx
Hi Adrian cheers for another class lesson, your videos help immensely! Have you considered covering any material by Meat puppets? there are few tutorials for some of their lesser known tracks. I request anything off their fantastic 'up on the sun' LP, cheers again :)
Great choice. love these lessons, concise and clear and as someone else commented it's as though you're looking through my records. would it presumptuous to request something by the MC5?
I am trying to learn to play this and I am having some difficulty learning the descending glissando for the rhythm part. I am wondering if you could suggest an approximate tempo to set my metronome at to practice my tremolo picking. I am one of those fellows who has a hard time walking and chewing gum at the same time.
I think guitarist accents the first note of the slide down then tremolo picks down to the 5th fret and cuts it off there, on the first open E note on the downbeat.
Adrian, have you considered teaching us a MAN OR ASTRO-MAN tune (or two)? Somehow, I think you're the only person on UA-cam that's cut out for this job. :-)
You get the absolute best tones from your guitar.
Sounds perfect.

....Got to include Surf Rider right with Pipeline in that category, also!!
This is a gift that keeps on giving. Thanks Adrian for sharing.

Finally a surf tune! Your picking style is an upgrade to the version I learned before. Looking forward to digging in.

Great stuff, would like to see more of this
Superb! It's like you read my mind.
Zabardast, cheers from Canada....
Great lesson as always...and an absolutely gorgeous guitar
Great, I wonder if sometime you could do a tutorial on XTCs “Crocodile” chords and lead. Thank you
Oh! This is a dream come true. Thank you!
This is great! Please please follow through with the Johnny Thunders version! Would love to start with this "classic" sound then bust into that!
Same idea here. It’s pretty similar except there’s that classic Chuck Berry riff instead of the single lines at one point.
Awesome tune Adrian ..the shirt is also awesome.
Thank you Adrian, that was great! I have to go practice it now.
Great job....Stevie Ray and Dick Dale version for me is one of the best!
Fantastic as always.
Thank you for this guitar classic Adrian.

It's a double shaka from me, Adrain. I'm looking forward to seeing the shirt / guitar combo you bust out for the Thunders version.
Thanks Adrian! This is fantastic.
I annoy anybody in hearing range with this regularly :)

The slide down is done on the A String starting from the 15th fret.
How great THANKS

Are You using only reverb ? Maybe something else . Excellent Lesson / On screen tablature would be nice if possible.
How about a 3 or 4 part series on Marquee Moon? Sounds like an Adrian thing.
Wow I haven’t listened to Television in so long

Dude, I can't see what your right hand is doing. You got to pull that camera back a bit.
🚩My Bad, im Sorry, didn't know you were going to walk through
I don't like the sloppy beggining but there's no better tutorial
So to you I shall put an end
And you'll never hear surf music again ...
Thanks a lot, Adrian! Another great lesson
