Thank you for the honest overview. Just by looking at your interaction with the device it's clear that the display needs to be pointing forward, maybe slightly upwards. But having to tilt it towards you while working to see what the hell is going on is a total no-go for me. 😁
I agree, but that would not be a big deal in my opinion if the station did not have the quirks i talked about. Metal or heat resistant housing is a must so hot tips do not burn thru the plastic. Tip recognition is a very big deal. I was not able to use 3 out of the 7 tips because the station would not recognize them. This may be fixable with firmware update or tip redesign. Inserting and removing tips could be made a lot easier. I can't judge the quality of the tips in just 2 days, but i had a hard time sticking solder on some of the tips assuming those are wetting tips. Other then that, i thought the station build quality was not bad at all, and the performance was great using the micro tips. The handles are comfortable and the distance between the handle and tip is short and comparable with Weller. Viewers did not like the idea of this being a JBC look alike, while i do agree, I can overlook that if the station performed well. Maybe I2C can take what was said here with an open mind, fix the flaws and improve the station. Maybe then, we'll have something worth looking into.

Giving an honest non kiss up review is very much appreciated. In a different capacity I was like you in my industry and for my honesty I was unpopular b/c I held the established brands to account for their obvious flaws. Admittedly it was a lonely place to be at times b/c sheep just believed b/c a product was made from a famous name brand that meant it was above criticism. Seeing this review make me like your approach even more than I already do. Just speak the truth and screw who's feelings it might hurt!!

This is why i use original JBC stations and not a knock off look alike. ;) Costs premium money, but works good and reliable on a daily basis.

Thank you Alex for an unbiased and honest review. Maybe this is something you could do more often. I bought the grinding pen after your review and now I will avoid I2C.
There are two type of tips:
solder sticks to the tip
solder avoids the tip
, bet you got the nonstick tip. Weller has these as-well, nonstick and sticking.
In my experience, Weller is the best, you can hot-swap the tips and don't have to worry burning your fingers. But the price is quite high.
i didn't know that, i was thinking that was only about the quality of the tip.
Just googled abit, and weller calls it "wetting" and "non wetting (nw)".
I always leave solder on the tip when I turn my station off. Stops the tip oxidising and once turned back on and cleaned off looks nice and shiny and works perfectly.

it shares nothing with what happened in vid. He just didnt even calibrate tip temp and tip is burnt. u can see its gone blue meaning ~550C
Spent many years servicing digital camcorders and my JBC station was my go-to for smd work with A Metcal station for the larger jobs. Also had a very expensive Pace station which I never thought was worth the money.
Well done, and thank you for this honest review. I am very interested in this machine, unfortunately it has too many flaws at the moment. I will definitely keep myself up to date on the improvements it may get though

I had a JBC digital and a Weller manual temp control. JBC all day but it was always easier to get Weller tips. But both do the job very well.

I have been using similar clone station and I got the same issue as you did with the tips. BUT it only happened ones, till I learned the proper maner to operate with it. It seems you are forcing the tip against the soft material which is underneath the tip. Instead you have to take the tip to the metal strong hole (don't know how to explain it, it has 3 different shape holes) and after selecting the right shape for your tip, you can force it to enter the other part.
That error message is because the tool doesn't recognize the tip inserted
I was very close to buying a i2c station for myself as JBC is not within my personal budget. I am very happy to see this video to discourage me from getting one.
On a separate note: My work place approved me to purchase a JBC rework station since the hakko 888D is not powerful enough to keep up with my current production soldering needs (will typically solder 4800 - 7000 thru-hole joints each day.)
I should be seeing my new station any day now. Maybe "Santa" will get me one for xmas this year if I like it :P
Thanks for your honest review Alex! I have been using the JABE UD-1200 C245 for the past 2 years and have had amazing results vs JBC. I don’t use the knock off tips just JBC tips with my station. I was just in the market for a C115 / C210 station since JABE doesn’t offer a dual station. I’m going to stay away from I2C until I see quality like my JABE.
I can confirm each word. Jabe is a very good soldering station. The limitation about the only C245 is the only important lacking
We use the jabe UD1200 & love it for the 245 tips we also have a JC aihun T3B 115 station which is brilliant, mechanic do a 245,210,115 multi handle station which is brilliant BUT it also suffers from the plastic based tip puller/insertion issue but that's nothing a small piece of silicon mat in the compartment wouldn't solve but it doesn't have the same issues the i2c station has it recognises everything without issues. Definitely something worth considering.
I got the same weller station, I quess thats how ole schoolers like us roll. I was using weller 30 years ago. Now you can't tell Me that there's anything better than a weller. Long lasting and good performance. I still can't believe that they would even send you that soldering station without testing it out themselves first. Nice review, had to give U a thumbs up on that one.

i have a cheaper backup soldering iron similar to that and you often must wiggle the tip to get them to seat completely into the handle. You can use a silicone pad to grab tips while hot
If you use it for a living, buy JBC. I've been using JBC products for almost 20 years. Worth every penny.
I had that machine but I used it with original jbc tips and it worked great

I believe only issue with clones is their quality. But the only one that knows how well the soldering iron performs is one that has used few hundred or thousand dolar machine. Great work

I bought a second hand Weller (WD1M) which supports all kinds of handles and thus all kinds of tips. New they are way too expensive, but if you are looking for a second hand one you will find one for a good price eventually ^-^

I want to mention that blackness of the tips is due to the elevated temp, try 350 a good sufficient temp and see the difference , maybe the quality of tips , i have aixun t3A and above 350 the tips turns black witch let's the solder doesn't stick to the tips

Try to clean up the contact pins on the tips with alcohol or board cleaning liquid. They may be oxidized or dirty.

Hello , i wanted to buy that device but it has such problems like that I will wait for a new update on that ! There is a dual version(for jbc 210 and jbc 115 tips ) of them I wanted to buy that ! But if they have so big problems that's a no go !

My other problem with the copies is the high cost of the original tips (as you'd probably what those over the compatibles) though the cost of the station might be more affordable....also if you look carefully the cost of the stations are getting costlier with every iteration (with every attempt to tack-on a JBC-style capability) bringing them closer and closer in price to the Original they're based on. Now even though you'd probably get more like two hand-pieces instead of one the same can be done to the single hand-piece JBC by adding an extension module while still maintaining JBC overall quality, reliability, performance and warranty (but of-course at a slightly higher cost).
Well that's unfortunate. Hopefully they don't jack up the price to the point it becomes meaningless to buy these clones.
If you are looking for a soldering station to carry, you might want to look at the Aixun T3A or T3B stations.
If you have some electronic knowledge and the time knowledge you can go for a Unisolder boards from tindie and with JBC (or clone) handles and a Chinese iron holder with tipchanger it does a very good job for me until now and you can get the whole thing done for like 200€. (I soldered the whole board myself through, but that is not a good idea on the money side).
You can just use original JBC tips with it then, through I have a mixture of chines tips and original JBCs and the quality does not seem different (there is only very limited number of different Chinese tips through). This machine btw. kind of looks like it could take original JBC cartridges too.
I do not use the iron very day all day through, so my tips maybe have like 40h use time on the lesser used ones and maybe 400h or so in the one I use most of the time (which actually is an original JBC one).

Please use the thermal cam to compare actual Tip Temps of this one and the Weller.
I suspect this one is a lot hotter than it shows. That's how you removed an entire chip from one side.....?

I have soldering station JBC and that area where you exchange the tips is also plastic. But is not melt when the hot tip touches it. That is the difference between the original and copies.
I do a lot of (smd) soldering and my daily driver was a Weller. When it suddenly died on me a few years ago i got a cheap Ksger T12 from a friend so i could continue untill i got the Weller fixed.....
Now 3 years later, the Weller is still not working, just because the Ksger performed so good and still does.... I ordered 2 more for spare. Just saying...... a 50 bucks station performes just as good as the Weller but for a fraction of the costs.
bruh your so honest haha love it. I personally like the old hardware look, i just like a product to be easy to use/learn and work for a very long time and work well.
The Aixun T3A (JBC T245) and T3B (JBC T115 & T210 Tips) might be worth a look for your shop. I think if someone wants to use JBC tips they offer currently a great value for the money and the construction is pretty good.

I have this station 12c. As soon it came one of the tips. Tje curvwd one burns out. Turn hot red. At 400 degrees. Then a " heating anomally" apears on the screen. The chinesse seller didn't want ro replace it until i send them the defective tip even when i show them a video of the tip turning red. I guess the tips should be used at medium twmperature for the first hours as a warm up time. The other 2 tips are good. Works fine but im going to buy original jbc tips as the tips of jbc are better. This is a budget unit if you dont want to spend more than 200dlls

the handle plugging in at the back is also something they must address.
Here's some advice cause i have studied a lot of soldering irons and cloenes, this is a JBC clone and their handles suck compared to original and when you push the tip too hard it sometimes can short it or even go too far and still the contacts don't make contact, this is pretty common though
I like the Baku 702B station and just buy a couple diferent high quality wands to switch back and forth screwing onto the connection
Weller 💯 for me ever since I first used my first Weller station at work 32 years ago and never used anything else because that Weller brand is a beast.
What good is the temperature display if you constantly need to lift the machine to read it?
What temp do you run your Weller station at ? I m guessing it would be different for Leaded & Unleaded solder.

It would be interesting to see how the tips hold up after some use. It's been my experience that after a few heat cycles the cheap tips won't hold solder anymore. That would be a big negative if you were to sell these.
Tips are consumables, no warranty for them anyway. Just tell the customer to buy original JBC tips if he wants.
You will be able to use original JBC tips with this station that way you will get better performance. Or if you want something that looks good and works well then go for SUGON T3602 2 in 1 or T36 for micro pencil. There's another JBC knock off which is cheaper than above mentioned its GVM T210 it performs really well considering its price point.

Very good review. But i think its better to spent money on a good solderstation. It doesnt say that a "cheap" product is always bad but i think most times you buy cheap products, you always buy twice. Maybe they should revise their solderstation. And than sell it again.

Never known any iron tip to tin at 450C unless they already are tinned. At that temp they will be black and knackered within minutes.

When you were removing the small caps/resistors you commented that you only needed to heat one side. I know this is a newbie question and might be a stupid one: if you’re heating the SMD to such a temperature that it transfers the heat to the other solder joint is there no chance of damaging the component?

my soldering iron is like this might be even more gap between tip and hand and is very heavy .. I don't know where it came from but it was in my home so I use it
well using 450 Celcius on T115 handle and tip is the way to burn it down within couple days of use

But I do have a general question seeing as you repair a lot of devices (I am also waiting on more Amtech 213 flux to be in your store):
What ultrasonic cleaner do you recommend/do you use? I am using Amtech 559, but no solvent seems to clean the solder mask area between IC legs very well. I am hoping Amtech 213 will be a good choice in the mean time.
We use Elma e60h ultrasonic. Fresh shipment of Amtech 213 and 559 will be in this Fri. I'll announce it.

Generally clone JBC soldering station comes with generic low quality bits, you can use original JBC bits or get quality bits from some other brands.
Will they work with this cloned station?

I am also wondering how accurate the temperature settings are on the unit. Just because it says 450C on the screen it could actually be outputting 550C etc. Can it be calibrated at all so when it says 450C on the screen that is what the temperature of the tip actually is?
If only he had a thermal camera.......
@@mrbmp09 There are specialized devices that use thermistors to test the temperature of the tip to see how well the iron maintains the temperature that you set it to. Especailly when you are using it and the thermal mass of a board sucks the heat out of the tip. The iron has to be able to keep it at the set temperature.

I bought the i2c 2SENi NANO soldering station with the "C115" handle, later I bought the "C245" handle (of the same brand) separately, and my station does not recognize it by putting "NO TOOL" on the screen, does anyone know how I can work it out? Any solution?, HELP PLEASE, Thanks!
