Very hard to ap players from leagues (CSSHL, Jr B, etc) that are Hockey Canada sanctioned, because of the September 30 rule. Play a game after this date and you can’t return to sanctioned teams until the the new season.
Players wanting to leave a BCHL team for whatever reason after Sept 30th CANNOT go back to their previous team in a sanctioned league. They will be suspended by Hockey Canada once Sept 30th passes.
My boy plays in the JPHL... it will be a feeder league for BCHL now. The NCAA route is basically solidified and we will see quite a few players from the states billet here.
why the F am i watching this video as a 40 yr old beer leaguer

Yes that’s a rule that makes it trickier that we should have mentioned
I heard it is a full calendar year. If you leave in December, you cannot join another league until Dec of the following year.

Interesting, we weren’t aware of this rule, thanks for bringing it up!
Plus, you can also kiss your Team Canada U18 eligibility goodbye too… At least that’s what I’m hearing.

What would be the rules with signing o a major junior team from the b CHL be now
Probably even simpler since they’re unsanctioned, you’d be able to sign whenever you want. That being said, specific rules to come from the BC
Also player’s from the new BCHL can’t play on National teams, like U17, U18, U20 World Juniors, which is a big negative in my opinion.
Definitely comes with some cons!
They were already not allowed when BCHL left CJHL in 2021.
Other Jr leagues will be considering this move. Stay tuned.
I hope the AJHL does the same. Take your cages and shove it.
You never know!
