Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Treasure every moment you have working with you're Dad, Zach. Miss mine every day brother.
Very true.
Sorry for your loss
@@nathanh3975 Thank you
Your dad has a wonderful spirit about him.
You are blessed to have a really nice Dad!! I was fortunate to have one too.
Your dad is so kind.....Sawryyyyyy!!!!! We love ya Pops!!!!
Living legend
Great to see dad out there with out a limp hardly. Has he ever been mad/cussed before 😂. He seems genuine to the core.
Love Dad's idea of "taking the day off" 😂😂😂😂
Planning a road trip to your neck of the woods. Would love to see your operation first hand. I’m retired and my wife and I are doing some traveling in our great country. Grew up on a farm until I went to the service. My, how it has all changed. Love your channel and what you represent. God bless all there.
it's 12:53 AM in my country, watching you all the way from Iran, loved that montage, send my love to your family, especially your dad.
Its half 9 now for me in Ireland
22:54 for me in norway!
American 5:00 let’s get drinking 🍻🍺

Hope you get rain soon, this spring is the most dry I've seen your place in 4 years of watching your videos.
Hi Zack and Becky,
Thank you for including your Dad and Jim in your recent vids.
They remained me of my Dad. Dee, my husband and I farmed 500 acres in the 80s with my Dad. It was not our full time job. But some of the best times in our life. We no longer farm. But we enjoy watching your vids. Framing is definitely different in Mn than in Ut.
Thank you for sharing a part of your lifestyle . God bless your family. Stephanie
It's Zach, not Zack.
I think it’s amazing that you get to work alongside your dad. And all the memories you will have.
Becky sure does some nice editing what Zach shoots and narrates...love it all
She needs to post some raw footage to show who the real guru is😂😂😂
Behind every good man is a great woman good on you Becky 👍
Should have bought that Quadtrac at that farm sale you were at earlier this spring !
I'm not sure if he likes good tractors.
The money and maintenance required is unbelievable with our quads
Oh I know it. We have 3 of them. I Still believe they're the best tractors made for what we're doing.
If he doesn't like red that much, he could have painted it green. Atleast he would have something.
@@matkurcher9469 Why paint it green? Being a 'green' farmer, he could've just bought a 9RX.
Watching you and your dad make me miss working with mine
It is great to see your Dad walking around without a cane.
Huh?
@@smallengines1018 he had knee surgery
@@logantheobald9485 oh
That red quad Track would look good out on your farm.
Urrrh,
You are 100% right on the roller. They are relatively low psi...except for high spots. Since they are rigid, when you hit a high spot, the for concentrates there and knocks it down. It's simple but effective and easy to misunderstand unless you think about how they work.
I enjoy watching you plant corn and soybeans with a planter. I zero till and seed with a narrow opener. I seed canola at 4.2 mph. Watching you seed at 9 mph.
Man I love watching ur dad he's very calm and gentle
Started filming some farming stuff myself, we do table grapes. Really enjoy your videos. 🙌🏽
Sure is great to see Dad up and around! 💪👍🏼
Thanks for the roller explanation, seen them used on other farm channels but had no clue why. Also, the camera angles shows the before and after pretty well.
I love when you explain the "why" of what y'all are doing. I don't suppose you need my grandfather's old JD 630 to give the channel some "pop"? lol
Some people use a roller to hit Ricks down after seeding
Thank you zach, your vids with such details and dedication makes me miss our farming days so much. I appreciate the good memories they bring back
Thank you for explaining the land rolling. I have been trying to understand why you would need to do it.
I'm so glad that you pointed out that hole to us! I just never would have known! You have very keen eyesight and a great ability to pick out fine details!
Great video. Thanks for taking us along.
Good video at the beginning with the camera on the machine. Reminds me of running along beside my Dad when he was working the fields on his Farmall.
Dad is so genuine! The best part is the end.
I am on the bus home and I am using my data for your vids I think that explains how much I love this channel ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This day can’t get better the weather is nice and Millenial Farmer posted!!! Wonderful day!!
Love you guys so enjoyed to watch your videos and see how you are doing farm work in the US. Rob from the 🇬🇧🚜
Your dad cracks me up! So genuine and happy. I love how he says "yeah". Makes me smile. Lots of information in that head for sure!
That shirt you were wearing is so very true, sums up most of last weekend for me.🙂
The montages are on point! Keep up the amazing work!
I like that he still actually shares what its like to run a farm and the day to day goings on. Other ag channels I watch have started to spend the majority of their time being Instagram models, Tik Tok influencers and hawking their merchandise rather than actually doing ag education. They have gotten away from their roots and mission and spend more time being social media influencers./ fashion designers.
You and your Dad work well together. Enjoy it while you can. Thanks for the vid it was great!!!
It’s pretty amazing how much weight your pulling, plus your cutting thru a lot of dirt !
Dude that is a boss set of triple gang rollers you got there. That first piece you were discing in , is nearly as big as our whole farm! Go easy on the old fella, it doesn’t get any easier as you get older. You just have to work smarter 🍀
The new camera is great! Love your videos and your explanation of everything. Keep up the excellent work
Beautiful father and son bond, god bless you guys🙏
Your episodes(post) are like game of thrones episodes, I can’t wait for the next one to air. I’m always on UA-cam looking. I’m glad you turned me onto welker farms channel and bales hay farm channel too.
Good Morning, Great Millennial Farmer Video, thanks for sharing, have a great week.
Love the big big horse it looks so much bigger than the rt but I get the rt’s turning circle is really nice
Love watching you and your dad working together.
Nice shot of the tow cable is that for Jim 🤔😂😂
I think they should be renamed the Jim cable across the agricultural industry.
Always up for a good montage, well done sir (and Ms. Editor)
Myself I would get the 9560 fixed and run it til next year. Then sell/trade it in for something you want. I don't think you get much for it being broken.. Unless you can get on real good deal on something else...We called the disc blades "wave blades." Good blades!!!
Dads a good Ol boy!! Youre lucky to have such a Dad, and hes lucky to have you for a son!! Yo both lucky!!! Onyx,,,,youre on deck!!!
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always!!!
Got to love your dad.nice guy.got a grandson that looks a lot like him.
Thank you for being a farmer. I truly appreciate what you’re doing. There’s no way I could even talk to my Deere dealer about buying those big-ass machines. I just about got an ulcer from a $10k zero turn mower. 🤣.
Your dad is looking like he is healed up fine! Also, like the garmin instinct watch!
Thanks for the video. Was another good one. Lots of odds and ends to do it appears. So I am still confused on the tractor situation. The one setting in the yard must be one to try on demo. I assume you will try it and then decide whether to fix the one you have or trade. What size is the demo one???? You all are doing lots with spraying and roller and planting to do yet. Know you will keep at it. Believe I heard you say around 250 acres where you are now. Glad your helper did not get a tractor in the mud-wow. Happens quickly. Been there done that. Thanks for your time to do the video so we can follow along. You all take care and be safe. Thanks to Becky for editing. Thanks Zach. Iowa farm boy from years ago.
God I loved to work with my dad back in the day. Learned a lot since he was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator. I was the gofer and the flashlight holder. How I miss those day. Sigh....
We use a roller when we plant in the moisture so the wind won't dry the ground
Love the videos iam sure it’s a pain carrying around the camera for the most part ,always look forward to the next video hope they get longer as the season continues ... you have came along ways since you started I have been along for the ride from the start and Becky does a awesome job on her part thank you for all ur hard work ...
I live in the city but find these videos so interesting, keep it up!!!!
You are a Real Farmer and you’re the Bestos warmer I know
The Welker boys have a nice red quad track sitting there.I’m sure you could get a good deal from Case IH.
Two Montages!!! Sweet deal!
We need another up to date shop Tour now that your moved into it!
Rolling the ground also helps too lock the moisture in the ground , at least that’s partially why we do it in the UK 🇬🇧
Love the t-shirt Zach. Lol An RT eh? The 9000 series? Planting is almost done........wow where did the time go? Great vid as usual. Take care & stay safe. Cheers from van Isle, BC🇨🇦
Love your Millennial Farmer show very informative 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
I liked your way of describing the roller. Many people get confused by that.
Nice to see new videos
Sounds like there’s a lifter hammering in the sprayer engine!
I was thinking something was not sounding good in the last video of it too
Thats the air compressor
Great Editing of the good video footage you shoot 😎👍✅
Always enjoy your Videos especially when you work around/with your Dad. Some might complain that you are being hard on your Son Onyx(sp?). Looks like he is enjoying it along with Your Wife and Girls I was raised the same n now 76 and still do as much as I can.
Y'all's is a True Family Farm.....:)
Enjoy your dad while you can, just lost my dad a couple days ago. Miss him a lot. BTW, concave discs are only concave on one side ;-).
We just picked up a 9570 a month or 2 ago and so far it seems to be working really good. Really pretty tractor just a marvelous machine ya know? Looks pretty mean as well.
I Look everyday for a new video upload it’s become a daily ritual and something I look forward to enjoying to end my day with a smile.
Concavity?🤣 that is the best...keep em coming Zach.🇺🇸
I'd be looking at that quad track you demo last fall.
Sharing always Zach!
That is my favorite tractor and tillage machine. You look good in it. Great video.
As I get off school a Millennial farmer video comes out what a good surprise
In Ireland here its half 9 and I’m just done a day of dairy farming
Me too
I think rolling made even more sense when we planted with old drills without press wheels. Still a benefit here. Everyone that plants beans or seeds alfalfa is rolling it.
The camera angles were great , 👍👍👍 ......
Wow great montages. Kind of tv ads for John Deere and Mandako .... Love it!!!
Very good video thanks for information about the roller
"Hills"... He says. And makes the grower with orchards laugh.
Your video is very useful.Thank you for your sharing
Those disks are convex on the back side...
Also, a couple days with a D11 Cat dozer could flatten those hills completely!
In Australia the farmers use the rollers to flatten out the top for pea crops as the have to run the header pick ups on the ground for the same reason as you do. Love your videos Zach. I am an exfarmer/farm labourer from mid north of South Australia.
Haha i really thought the roller was for smashing down the beans that were planted!!💯💯😳😳 No idea it was for the header n stuff!!👍😆🚜🇺🇸🇺🇸
had no idea, thanks
Just in CASE you do decide to get a new tractor please keep us posted!
Haaaaaa! I see what you did there.
They got a new one.. a 9570RT to replace the 9560RT
Lol give the dog a bone sheesh 😂 keep up the good work to all you there.
Fun that you had 2 montages and music really like that please do More of that !!! 🤣🤣🤣
Hope the new tractor in anything but green. Thanks for the video.
Just pull the 9560 engine this winter and rebuild it in your shop. Just an engine that weighs a lot.
they will need it this fall
Hahaha the hole in the hose!
Enjoy watching videos and John Deere equipment! 😘🚜😀 Mike from Missouri
I really like those scalloped discs.
I just bought a tractor today because you make it look like so much fun
620 quad trac would be great addition to your farm. Add some color.
Besides the good reasons you mentioned about why you roll seedbeds for beans I would like to add that
1. we get improved capillary action of moisture rising up through the soil helping germination and establishment especially of spring planted crops in a dry year.
2. improved weed control from pre emerge products as there are no clods on the surface that will collapse as they break down and become mellow releasing weed seeds in early autumn planting.
3. good seed to soil contact with firmer seedbeds in the early summer -especially with shallow drilled or broadcast seeds such as grass seed, stubble turnips or oilseed rape.
It is worth mentioning that in arable crops we generally use a ring roll (Cast iron rings mounted on a shaft) rather than a flat roll.
Can't wait to see which RT or RTX you might find. Take us shopping with you and how you decide on which to get or repair. It is a major issue for many in the business. Right tool for the right job.
Hello 👋 from Denmark 🇩🇰. Love your agro videos. You have some pretty cool gear to punish💥🎶👍😊
