    I always thought of o soto as a "white belt move" but after learning the ken ken and cross body variations and watching dudes like Satoshi ishii throwing black belts, I can say I've seen the light! And am re-integrating the major outer reap into my game! Oss!

      Definitely not a white belt move. It's extremely difficult to close the distance and go for the finish when you go against a trained person.

      Shohei Ono is known for his Osoto Gari along with Yasuhiro yamashita. Both are monster in Osoto Gari.

    I love hitting this one. It is almost more of a Osoto Guruma, though because your hip is deep behind his and you are reaching across both legs with a planted leg. It's all good though. I was rusty and you made me look some stuff up for the names again. Thanks for the video!

    Finally a move that is practical alot of these other throws on other channels are super hard to execute against someone that is resisting with skill.

      @@EnergiaMartialArts I pancaked a guy that outweighed me in muscle by 60 lbs and held him in the scarf hold that you finished in for 5 minutes without getting swept. So perfect setup for me.

    What happens if the guy fights back when you duck under? These moves look nice when in slow motion and with no resistance. Osoto gari looked pretty decent, though. 👍

      Its a duck under.. it has been proven, tried and trialed forever in full speed and competitions. Here we freeze frame because its an instructional obviously but in sparring im going way faster ;) Osú

      @@EnergiaMartialArts I mean it seems to be both. I've done variations of this move in judo and bjj. Irimi nage is actually a term for a aikido move o soto gari is a bjj move. I think my comment sounded like I was trying to correct you. That wasn't my intention. You are actually right that this in the judo world is o soto gari. I think o soto gari and irimi nage are just variations of the same thing.
