FOMO 👋, Does the Sony B7 have better Processing than the LG G4? I currently have the 55" LG G4 but I am thinking maybe I can exchange it for a 65" Bravia 7.
The frustrating thing I’ve noticed is the Black Friday prices for the mid range and higher I’m looking for are no better than ANY of the previous big sales events. I’d expect a better deal in November than the ‘24 new years January sales, prime day, or now Black Friday when we’re at end of year.
I have 2012 46 inch LG TV. I want to upgrade to 65" TV at the right time. I mainly watch streaming movies, sports and news. My room is more wider so may require sharp viewing angle and mainly dark but with ceiling light may reflect on glass at some angle. Should I wait until 2025 or just go ahead this year? I am considering between S90D and Bravia 8. I do love Bravia 8's color over S90D. Is LG C4 better? Or I should just wait until next year?
I’m stuck FOMO I need a 83 or larger for my new house max budget 3200 so I’m stuck between 85 qm8, Samsung qn90, Bravia 7 or do I do a 83 c4 or s90d in woled ?
Different strokes for different folks, but IMO, TV tech has reached a level where next year's models are not going to display any significant improvements in picture quality, so I'll be buying this year's TCL model at run-out prices early next year.
I’m with you FOMO, TVs need to get better in terms of shadow detail and accuracy near black-at least on their mid-to-premium TV models. Samsung is already stepping into it with QD-OLED and Sony with MiniLED. Mediatek’s new SoCs aren’t helping Sony in the OLED/QD-OLED department at all-I think it’s fair to assume that Sony lost a lot of money with the A95L (HDR/Dolby Vision and audio sync problems) and couldn’t afford to bring down its price.
The 2023 QM8 is still right up here with any TVs from this year. A year ago I wouldn't have thought this but the newest beta test firmware is absolutely incredible. It feels twice as good as it was new out of the box. 2025 will be the year I'll be looking for a potentially big upgrade. Fingers crossed but if not the 2023 QM8 will keep me content. 😉
A little help if you have the time. I’m looking at a 77 inch S90D or a 77’ Bravia 8. The latter is the only Sony at the size I’m interested in at the price range I’m considering ($3,000). Most of the content I’m watching is a mix of 4K UHD and upscaled television shows via streaming services (Netflix, VUDU, Disney+). I game, only on console and specifically the PS5. Is the XR processing on the Bravia 8 really worth passing on the brighter, more vibrant color the S90D has to offer? Edited to add: Forgot to mention - The TV is being out in the master bedroom. A perfectly light controlled environment. Yay graveyard shifts. Furthermore. I don’t know if it matters, but I use a third gen. Apple TV as my streaming device.
Don’t go for the Sony it’s a great TV however LCD can’t compete with a high end OLED TV. Samsung has superior gaming features than Sony as well. If you are a gamer and want the best display go with the S90D out of the two.
The C4 and S90D 77 inch is same price now. I don't play games but do have a few SD Streams .. apart from that its Netflix Prime Peacock etc. Which one do you recommend?? I will run a Bose S900 soundbar with it.
Help needed. During blackfiday with the Samsung EPP discount, Im looking to buy either the 77 Samsung 90d or 95d and bundle the 990d. My ceilings are ~20ft high... is the soundbar worth it?
The 98 inch UX has dropped in price to $4500. But ever since Best Buy has had it listed, the button to buy it shows sold out. I don’t think it has even come in stock yet. When is it going to be on sale? Do we have an actual release date?
OLEDs looked good a few years ago but I was blown away by the brightness and clarity of the OLEDs I saw recently. 77 to 83 inches for about $2k. What is the best one in this range?
There's no guarantee the tv you want will be cheaper than it is now next yr. I want a 83 in QD Oled but that tv will be very expensive at launch and won't be under $5k until next Oct. Then you'll be right back to wondering if you should wait.
Hey I'm hearing that samsung will end support for tizen in 2025 or something like that. Just wondering should I wait for the new os on the new tvs or should I jump on the qn90d or qn900d I've been considering?
I want the Sony bravia 7 85" and can get it if i switch my old tv for € 2199 But the off angle watching is this also at like 45° off ? Thats the biggest angle we watch
Totally disagree on the streaming content. There’s been a lot of study on this and the bitrates that you get. The highest bitrate streams are the AppleTV+ Originals on the AppleTV device. Other than that example, the device doesn’t have much to do with the streaming quality at all. It’s the service itself. Services are all over the map. I think they are around 15Mbps. If they were 30mbps there would be a very nominal difference in video. All of them the audio is neutered. The way around this is physical media or the kalaidescape I have a calibrated 83” C3 and I can definitely tell the difference and therefore researched it.
I literally bought the s90d instead of the s95d because of the matte screen, saw it in person and it looks terrible even in low light. Would you want to look out of a clear window or a very lightly frosted one.
Thanks for the information. I have a question for you, I'm looking for a 55" TV for my PS5 Pro and the Samsung S90D seems the one to go for BUT here in the UK, from what I've found so far the panels are W OLED and not the QD OLED ones, bearing this in mind would you still recommend/choose the S90D over any other 55" TV? Thank you.
Yes if you plan to use Game Motion Plus for lower frame rate content (4K30) otherwise the LG C4 is a great alternative if you want Dolby Vision as an option.
Only 65” is QD OLED in the uk. Thats why I went with the 55” s95d which is £1700 on currys but I price matched it with homesounds price which is £1500 and then you get a further £100 cash back from Samsung. Just made more sense than to have a 55” s90d woled that isn’t much less in price
If your primary use case is movies and tv, definitely the A95L. But if the G4 is significantly cheaper than the A95L, I’d go with the G4 instead. Both TVs are phenomenal for movies, but the A95L has a slight advantage in color volume.
Yes just turn auto update off, I own one and my advice is to get something else if you switch between sources like consoles or Blu-ray players because you have to go the home page every time to do so, or if you watch alot of streaming content or UA-cam basically anything compressed because it barely looks good with compressed video, or if you PC game because for some reason Samsung and windows don't like each other and I constantly have audio issues. If none of these apply to you get it and turn off updates like I said but if one of these fits you don't buy it you will regret it. Also qdoled especially Samsung are a pain to clean if you get a hand print on it.
@@yonkocommander5531it's not old news literally everyone that owns one tells people to turn off updates, the last update made it so some TVs can't enter the service menu anymore
I bought it as well. Using it as a PC monitor and TV watching. I have a recliner right behind my PC desk and chair and I just push the PC chair out of the way and then use my recliner for watching TV. It's my first OLED as well. I'm very happy with it.
Fomo can you clarify something for us? You repeatedly discuss color luminance and saturation as a weakness of the G4. Is this weakness and color wash out evident in regular HDR content that we would see in streaming or console games? Or is the wash out only really evident in very highly graded stuff from Jennifer gala etc? Would be super helpful to hear your response please and thank you.
@ I was just curious because I’m not really sure how it will work.I know a lot of people can’t afford higher end TV’s and lower income families rely on these types of TVs. If they get stuck with VIZIO, how awful would that be? lol
@@robertconrad7521 like Hisense isn't trash 😂. I'd take a Vizio over a Hisense any day of the week. TCL well that's the best Chinese brand . You obviously don't understand how it works. Just like most dumbocrats. If the USA stops outsourcing it's work to China. The American brands would be built better because they won't be subjected to cheap labor competition from countries that don't do shit for American except make trash at a discount while filling the pockets of democratic politicians . America won't suffer it will flourish once again.
Maybe my OCD over values it, but Samsung still not having Dolby Vision is maddening.. keep your HDR10+ and use the fact you have both HDR10+ & DV as a marketing move! What am I missing ??
The buzz last month was that TCL WHVA panels wouldn’t make it into any of their TVs bound for the U.S. in 2025. But this video makes it sound like it might happen. Anyone know?
Question: is the red haze on QD-OLED actually caused by the anti-reflective layer or by the fact that the quantum dot layer is much further forward than older QD tech? The red QD is the biggest, so it could re-emit ambient light as red.
@stopthefomo Yeah, but it lifts it with a red tint. Much more subtle than most tech users with studio lights pointed at it would have you believe, but still. It just seems to me that the QD layer would make more sense. Why would an anti reflective coating be red? But that's what everyone automatically blames.
Panasonic is similar to Sony in terms of technology. I have another choice with Panasonic coming back and give it a year to be sold by other places. I will consider getting a Panasonic compared to a Sony.
In NZ they price very well at moment , if we don't get a 83" QD_OLED in NZ next year. Then hopefully Panasonic releases a 77" QD-OLED , then the choice is that or a G5 83" , I really like the PQ and natural look on Panasonic . They don't force anything to get an instant wow. I even prefer slightly softer upscale than Sony. It's cheap by online encoders use as well to make a movie look "better" if lower bit rate with post sharpening to make the appearance of more detail . There are plenty of 4K movies with high detail, not everything needs to aspire to that look. Sony will need to price a 77" QD-OLED better out of the box, the A95L needs some fixes as well, the better SOCs will help
@@AndrewB23 Fomo thinks Panasonic might go QD-OLED next year . Sony does WOLED as well. As all the online reviewers say watching movies mastered at HDR600 or HDR1000 in a dark room - for 99% of content woled vs QD-OLED is completely irrelevant , even side by side hard to see differences, Both will look excellent as well. What does hot flames in Fury Road really look like in real life - who FN knows - so red, orange yellow and white probably all look great ie those flames filmed were certainly modify in production. we all understand QD-OLED is mostly superior except bright whites. But yet to see one serious reviewer rate that as a reason to buy this or that. The fact that many choose a G4 as their favourite . I still rocking a plasma, so no skin in the game . I strongly suggest people know what they watch ,what's important to them , ease of use, OS , processing , DVD upscaling , lots of kids etc etc . All equal get the QD-OLED
Was able to pick up a 55 inch Bravia 8 for around 1200 due to some packaging issuses, so I guess I'll kind of consider that my Black Friday discount lol but besides that I had a question if the Sony calibrated modes are too dim for like Netflix is it best to go with a streaming device like Apple TV or Google streamer?
Except for my iPhone and iPad , every device I have , LG TV, Roku, Samsung 4K player all struggle to play marvel movies with forced subtitles from an MKV file and pass Atmos to the receiver.
@ The question is quite clear, can the TV pass through Atoms track in an MKV file. I did not ask to pass through MKV file which makes no sense. Atmos pass through is something NVidia Shield and Zidoo player can do. I only need to know if a TV can do it.
the size difference alone settles it, size trumps picture quality to a very high degree. Not that the Samsung is bad, on the contrary it has the superior panel. The Sony might be better with handling lower quality content but I'm not getting such a TV to watch 480p cable channels. DV is not the difference maker it once was so the S90D absolutely no questions asked
Hey Stop the FOMO! Just wanted to stop by and say that I enjoy watching your content! And I will be getting my first OLED TV ever - the LG C3 65"! Cant wait to watch movies and tv shows, and game on my PS5! Woo! 😊
8K maybe a scam for home theatre or living room, but in AR-XR glasses driving dual 6K-per-eye (aka 8K combined) will come to the consumer market in the coming decade. Hell, dual-4K/6K XR glasses may even eat away at the low-to-midrange TV market.
so very wrong, when you move your head the world moves, people CONSTANTLY move their heads. Prepare for headaches and motion sickness while watching TV. LMAO>
Until these companies make something worth looking at. 2023 and 24 models are totally fine. The technology beyond a certain point is useless when there is no content.
I would absolutely love to buy a new TV now, and i could, but it would mean compromising on what i want. Compromising is why i'm looking for a new TV now. Plan on picking up my first OLED next spring/Summer and i want to make sure i can get the best i can and at 77 inches. I'll be able to get reviews on next years models and ve able to netter decide if i want to buy one of this years models to save money.
I paid 1650$ with taxes and transport s90c 77. Qd-oled colors are great. Always look for deals on last years models. The deals start every year the same time - always on black friday. Pick your tv and check prices every week. Have cash ready. Youll get it soon enough.
Now the popular thing to say is LG should just abandon WOLED and get WD Panels. These are the same people who have been saying LG is dead for 10 yrs. LG invested billions in WOLED and have huge manufacturing plants. They can't just say "We're done with WOLED" and do something else.
Once the 60% tariffs get slapped on Chinese made goods, and 20% on all other countries later in January, it will be too late to buy. Buy your tv's now. Same with all other major purchases of foreign made goods.
@@vybo8921mate you get how tariffs work right? If not you should learn quick as there is no tv made in the USA. Trump has made it clear he will add a 10% tariff on all goods.
I still don't get why the Hisense U8 N 55" is marked down under $750 is still not on the spreadsheet. I get it you're using the same spread sheet from a month ago. Even then the U8 N was at $800. Like how is the U8 N 65" recommended but not the 55". Anyway this is just one influencer's opinion so it's not changing my mind on the TV. I get that only the 65" has been reviewed but it has less local dimming zones but still retains all the testing specs.
@sydneyperryman7894 I have never had a panel lottery failure on a lcd panel. In any case depending on my next upgrade it should last that long enough until then. My dream TV is an oled LG G series. This is a TV upgrade from a Vivio M-7 50". I want to move up from a miniled to an Oled that will have the new Blue P-oled pixel lighting. So between 2027-2028.
@@scottivlow9962Upgrade? From oled to mini led? Oled is found on the side of an Oral B toothbrush and on special edition Star wars coca cola bottles, know why? Because it's cheap disposable tech designed like everything nowadays, to fool you into spending your money over and over again. So like I said ..Good luck!
Why can't LG "improve" the Color on LG Oleds? They have so many color settings that they don't use - like a "Luminocity" setting. So clearly the TV is capable of doing what QD OLEDS do but LG just isn't utilizing that functionality. It wouldn't match QD but be similar. You were one of the people who spent yrs saying LG OLEDs can't get above 700 Nits and I said they can if they want to, they are always improving.. So who knows what they are cooking.
LG needa get on QD-OLED asap, Samsung is way better in the color volume department. N I really hope Samsung remove that terrible Anti Reflective layer. I'm really hoping for 4k 240hz, hopefully without HDMI 2.1 DSC, n use Display port 2.1 instead. Good to hear were finally getting Samsung QD-OLED 83" hope its priced like G4 83.
They're "fake" colors by the way, meaning none of the media you consume was intended to show those colors. Also why do you want 4k 240 not even a PC with a 4090 can do that 😂
FOMO, 83" QD Oled has been rumoured for 2025. What's the current state of information? I'am gonna wait till Black Friday and pull the Trigger on the 83" S95E, nobody is gonna afford a 8000 $ 83" A95M. 83" QD Oleds regardless which brand will be THE Holy Grail we've been waiting for 🎉
Very well said at 12:30 - best sentence. LG WAKE UP!! QD OLED color volume is way beyond WOLED already. Do something or you will go bankrupt! MLA was nice really, but damn it, publish the new blue phosphor and some really new tech. You have been tweaking the best your panels in the last 10 years - no real innovation. Instead of real innovation MLA came, which is an optic lens trick not a panel improvement! Improve the panel finally!
Isnt it misleading to call the tech mature and unnecessary to advance in nit since it can hit over 1000 nits? Since in 100% full screen window it does like 250 nits max. Isnt that a big difference compared to LED tvs that depending on content will have more pop when there are no blacks just saturated colors that look brighter in a 100 % window compared to a dim oled at 250 nits? So there is room for improvement and lets use 100% window as metric, and not the marketing numbers which are misleading and only showing on a few seconds of content even in HDR.
I'm a hypocrite on this topic. With that said, what is this magical thing people are looking for with TVs? I think we're close to the point of diminishing returns. At some point the Content Delivery side of things need to improve NOT the TVs. Say you decide to wait, TVs are going to be very over priced for most of the year, then you have to deal with the early panel lotteries as manufacturers get rid of their old panels (Samsung is notorious for this), and we'll need several patches for the TVs to work properly and a price drop. So that puts us at September/Oct. Then you start the cycle again. I would love an 83 inch QD OLED over an LG G4 83 but the G4 is on sale now and when the 83 inch QD Oled comes out, I'll be shocked if its less than $5,500 at launch. Meanwhile the G4 has it's BF Sale, the Firmware is stable and I know they are now using 2024 panels. 83 Inch QD Oled will be better, but not that much better.
Tariffs are a great negotiating tool and that's what they will be in this case. People buying into the lying media once again. It's not going to be as bad as you think.
Connecting a PS5 Pro to any of these high end TV’s is like putting a Toyota Prius engine in a Lamborghini. Most people’s TV’s can’t even take advantage of these TV’s.
I just feel like it’s a filler year for TVs because none of these TVs are perfect. They’re all flawed in some shape or form so I’m just waiting until 2025. Where I feel like the TVs will be more future proof and better applicable for the PS5 Pro
@@stopthefomo specifically Sony is the TV most likely will be looking forward to so I’m ready for them to release a OLED for 2025 since they skipped this year and hopefully it’s 144 Hz. Now with Samsung, I just want them to get rid of that matte screen and hopefully you get the full 48 band with apparently that’s not been getting because of the one connect box. LG I just want them to upgrade their technology instead of being stubborn with still dealing with white OLED. And Panasonic, I’m just ready for them to show what they got in store for next year because this year they just put something out just to let people know that they’re back in the states
Well good luck with that Sony doesn't lower prices and if they do it's like $100-200 almost, the a95l is last years model and it's still the same price basically 😂
I done the same with richer sounds … unfortunately out of stock at the moment so have to wait another week. That’s why I’m still doing research if I should stick to my choice or change to A95L …

@@afleo7475 I just this evening ordered the S95D 55" and got for £1295 🙂
I have the Bravia 8. it's really good. 77" @$2500~ I don't care for Samsung color or LG web OS. Sony / google tv is for me.
Sony is great at movie content. However they are the worst out of Samsung, LG and Panasonic in gaming.
@@ZackSNetwork I game on a real PC and a 240Hz 32" QD-OLED. I play Nintendo that caps everything at 60hz on a tv.
83” G3 dropped to $3999 near last SuperBowl. Should I expect 83” G4 to drop at this year’s SuperBowl to $3999?
Hello, love your videos. Looking to upgrade my Tv , should I go with the LGG4 or the Sony A95L. I’m not a gamer mostly watched movies and regular TV.
If your primary use case is movies and tv, definitely the A95L. But if the G4 is significantly cheaper than the A95L, I’d go with the G4 instead. Both TVs are phenomenal for movies, but the A95L has a slight advantage in color volume.
@ thank you so much for your opinion
Where do they sell the S95D without the antireflective coating in Europe???
No where that’s how it is
Thinking of getting a s90d, does samsung really downgrade their tv’s with firmware updates though?
pretty sure that’s old news
Really wonder when the S90 series will get a new processor. That’s basically all that’s holding me back from getting one.
Why isn't the G4 mentioned in your buying guide at the 65" size?
I just bought my first oled ever woth the lgb4 48 inch for my bedroom and wow I am so happy. for 650 not bad price do you think so?
As long as it fits your room it’s great for the typical consumer. It will blow away any LCD in that price range as well.
I bought it as well. Using it as a PC monitor and TV watching. I have a recliner right behind my PC desk and chair and I just push the PC chair out of the way and then use my recliner for watching TV. It's my first OLED as well. I'm very happy with it.
Techno Dad rocks the audiophile channels. Good tv and sound systems. Thanks FOMO.
What about tariffs? A 10% increase would be something to consider as I’m not tracking any Oleds made in the USA.
With CES in early Jan. i'd wait to see what new models are coming to market.
Hi Fomo. Do you think TCL and Hisense prices will be affected by the upcoming tariffs? Why is nobody talking about this?
😂 He's not even president yet. But yeah Hopefully Chinese brands are done for good. Bye
@@damontroch4765I hope you know that the Chinese brands going away isn’t good for anyone. The big three are benefiting from them as well

Not what I observed - just lifted contrast evenly in very bright ambient lighting
Panasonic uses woled while Sony is qdoled, so no they don't use similar tech😂
About to buy a TCL 65inch qm7 this week hopefully for 899 is that good?

Can't wait for the bravia 7 vs qn90d comparison!
What are the chances that Samsung will use their better processor on next years qd-oled flagship?
what is 'the quad' ?
Was able to pick up a 55 inch Bravia 8 for around 1200 due to some packaging issuses, so I guess I'll kind of consider that my Black Friday discount lol but besides that I had a question if the Sony calibrated modes are too dim for like Netflix is it best to go with a streaming device like Apple TV or Google streamer?
Any TV will be able to decode av1? Which TV can pass through Atmos from MKV files?
Not AV1 and why would a TV pass through MKV files??
@ I meant passthrough Atmos from MKV files.
Except for my iPhone and iPad , every device I have , LG TV, Roku, Samsung 4K player all struggle to play marvel movies with forced subtitles from an MKV file and pass Atmos to the receiver.
@@xaviersreview1827well you clearly don't understand what you're trying to ask so I would do more research if I was you
@ The question is quite clear, can the TV pass through Atoms track in an MKV file. I did not ask to pass through MKV file which makes no sense. Atmos pass through is something NVidia Shield and Zidoo player can do. I only need to know if a TV can do it.
So you’re saying g4 83 inch should be better buy than g5?
Yes, minimal change but G4 definitely a better value
All that's going to happen for new TVs will be 165hz and better Bluetooth chips for using a controller while streaming games and other gimmicks
In my country
samsung s90d 77 inch 2500$
Sony A95L 55 inch 2500$
What would i buy
is Dolby vision is a worth thing to get sony
the size difference alone settles it, size trumps picture quality to a very high degree. Not that the Samsung is bad, on the contrary it has the superior panel. The Sony might be better with handling lower quality content but I'm not getting such a TV to watch 480p cable channels. DV is not the difference maker it once was so the S90D absolutely no questions asked
@@darthbrodaThe A95L has the same panel as the S90D. They are both QD OLED displays.

8K maybe a scam for home theatre or living room, but in AR-XR glasses driving dual 6K-per-eye (aka 8K combined) will come to the consumer market in the coming decade.
Hell, dual-4K/6K XR glasses may even eat away at the low-to-midrange TV market.

I would like LG launch a OLED modular TV.
Now the popular thing to say is LG should just abandon WOLED and get WD Panels. These are the same people who have been saying LG is dead for 10 yrs. LG invested billions in WOLED and have huge manufacturing plants. They can't just say "We're done with WOLED" and do something else.

Will Samsung make a 49 inch QD-OLED with a real QD-OLED panel in 2025?
Your question makes no sense
@AndrewB23 It does as Samsung always gimps their small screens and only used W-OLED panels
Mediatek Pentonic 800 may come to TV's in 2025, has 4 2.1 HDMI ports. HDTV and others say so, we will see. Maybe FOMO knows something.
A new firmware was released for G4 increasing brightness for 10% window or less by 200 nits
We’ve looked into it, cannot be confirmed by calibrators so still anecdotal at best
Get a HDMI splitter w/ 2.1 ports.
Lol those don't also work plus they add a bunch of latency
LG needa get on QD-OLED asap, Samsung is way better in the color volume department. N I really hope Samsung remove that terrible Anti Reflective layer.
Y’all better get stuff now before them tariffs hit. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
But what if Samsung finally pits its high end processor inside a qdoled…worth the wait?
If brightness is what you want buy a led not an oled.
On my country (Brazil) LGG4 has just 1 year warranty and no burn-in coverage. What a joke
