they nailed down the performance software. They need to do some software magic on the camera and nothing will touch this phone they already have camera hardware the best
It's Optimization! that's the reason why Sony's UI is basic and near stock android experience and that's the result, even though the iPhone's A10 fusion is a beast the Xperia manage to trump it up, unlike the Galaxy S8's Grace UX too bloated, same SD835 but still not match to the iPhone in terms of speed, sure the Galaxy S8 is fast enought when you don't compare, what I mean is in the long run, Samsung's software starts to degrade fast, unlike Sony's , give it 2-3 years and the software is still fast.

I have the xperia m4 aqua and originally had the xperia Sp. The m4, albeit midrange, has the same design as the z3 and is smooth as butter so I'm no interested in upgrading any time soon

I have the Sony Xperia XZ Premium & it is positively the undisputed king of Android phones, not seeing a successor to the Z5 Premium in 2016 I thought the reign of supreme Sony devices was over, especially seeing a slew of sub-par handsets of last year. I missed out on the Z5 Premium last time so I grab the XZ Premium on day one of release, Sony never disappoints it's fans.

kurt kobaine yeah game loading was faster on xzp but on other apps the animation were pretty slow on the iPhone and xzp had very little animation but still we are comparing a 1+year old phone with a new phone. And I'm a Android user.

Not surprised. Sony's version of Android is the best optimised version of Google's software out there, besides the Pixel. Only the 3T comes close. I personally can't wait for the OnePlus 5, as much as I love Sony. Half price, AND the phone should rule them ALL.

Oneplus 5 will probably be just as fast as the Sony, but it will be more expensive than previous models, probably a bit above 600 as of latest rumours. Still less expensive though.

You shall disable the SMART CLEANER on the XZ Premium, cause it closes apps, you don't use for a longer time, therefore multitasking will be much better :)

Sony needs to get out of the Android business and start building phones around their PlayStation ecosystem. They have been making arguably the best phones on the market for the last 5 years, yet sales have fallen by 70%. They are selling less phones than PlayStations for the first time in their history, and PlayStation has over 10x profit per unit sold compaired to Xperia. It is obvious that Sony consumers don't want Google phones with the Sony name slapped on them. Sony consumers want the PlayStation expereince of a highly optimized OS, on highly optimized software, running highly optimized apps and games. Give your consumer what they want, and end the sales slide and the red ink.

The problem with Sony using Android and the Google Play Store vs PlayStation and PlayStation Store is the fractured user expereince it causes between their products. The PlayStation OS and PlayStation Store make Sony more than 10x profit per unit sold, and adds strength to their brand as they have full ownership over the OS, Store, and their own future.
It is in their best interest to move all of their products to a single unified OS, powered by PlayStation Store, to increase growth, profits, and user expereince across all divisions. Android and Xperia is destined to suffer the same fate as Windows and Vaio, no profits, and loss of marketshare, it is a different type of consumer. Sony needs to build products for people that buy their products, the mass market has proven time and time again, they don't want generic devices from Sony. Hopefully Mr. Hirai can finally realize the One Sony vsion, start listening to the consumer, and build the products that will continue to drive growth and success at Sony.

What about the Google Play Store? It has not helped them grow or secure any market share over the last 5 years, I don't think it is going to be critical to their success over the next 5 years either. At this point Sony will never gain any market share on Android, they are reaching an ever shrinking user base. At this point they would be better off selling 10 Million PlayStation Phones powered by the PlayStation OS and PlayStation Store than 10 Million Xperias running on Android and Play Store. Without the Play Store and its apps they would not be able to reach the mass market, but with access to PlayStation 4 software, apps, and services they would open up to a whole new market, that is currently untapped by anyone, and really has no one capable of countering them. If they can carve out a portion of the market and sell 20 Million PS Phones a year long term, then they can be extreamly successful. As the platform continues to grow, more iOS/Android apps would appear, but the key selling factor, would be the PS4 apps, Games, and Services which have drive PS4 to 60+ Million sales in the last 3 years.

I want to have a continuous auto focus on a moving object...example a fish in a fish tank..my camera needs to fous on a particular fish with full autofocus without re-focusing on the fish movements...Can xperia xz achieve that or a iphone 7 plus?

oh man, thats really amazing, an easy and huge win for the XZP..this is not a normal phone that was defeated, its apple's best phone..AWESOME!!
You were opening apps that requires internet connection. so starting it does NOT go of the phone it goes off your connection speed. (this is why the apps start u a bit slower...) when you started to open the app... like a clock... Calls... messages... When you did your connection test it showed that your Iphone is actually meant to be faster... but its not. due to your connection speed. If you actually do your homework about these two devices... it will basically tell you that they both actaully run the same QC processors... Meaning these two phone cant really VS' each other. (Its like having two of the same cars next two each other for a drag race. Always depends on the driver never the engine.

The speed in both devices is pretty much equal ,but for me , the smaller internal storage, no sd card and the boring design of the Iphone is a deal breaker , definitely the XZ Premium looks way more elegant and the screen and camera are superb.
