Because Kratos is a protagonist of few words, it really takes all the other supporting characters to relay info to the player, and it's good writing in how it fleshes out the world.

When I came across that first realm rift with the two purple guys, I stubbornly headbutted it until I won. Took many many tries and almost an hour, but I did it. And then I think I regretted it, because while the rewards are worth it, you can’t use them until much later in the game. The only part of exploration that is probably too hard for you when you first get to the lake, but still absolutely worth doing as soon as possible, is the quest that gives you access to the dwarves kingdom with the dragon and the fire troll, and the big Thor statue you can destroy for some awesome loot. If you get that grip of tanngiost early, you can upgrade it surprisingly quickly, and it is very powerful. The versatile warriors handle is the best for early game, but is quickly outclassed. That quest to get the lieptr alloy is absolutely worth it because that is what you use to upgrade the grip of tanngiost
When you saw the scales at first I saw your face of "oh no, it's some kind of serpent 😨". It's funny to see Sindri putting on fight stance despite being really scared 😂, when you left Brok store he had some more talk to do, but nothing to worry about, you always can talk to the dwarf brothers, Keep going Kali, this game is amazing!
Another great video this episode let's you meet some great characters the witch of the woods, Sindri and of course the world serpent all great in their own ways and enjoyed your reaction.
I love how you're taking your time on this one. You don't always have to follow the gold path, explore the areas. It's so beneficial to level up before you face what's to come. A couple things, 1. The words starting with Jo are pronounced Yo. 2. That fight where you were one hit killed, you don't have to activate that but still explore that area, There's stuff there. Definitely cruise the lake and dock/Beach wherever you can, there's stuff you need/want. Keep going! Oh a good job getting those Ravens!
2 great tips Dont overthink the puzzles in this game. They're extremely straightforward. Use R1 to the throw axe more than R2. R1 is a quick, better angled throw. R2 is for distance.
Maybe it's just me, but it feels like during these starting hours GoW introduces more interesting, good written and charismatic characters than the whole original trilogy) Thanks for the video!
I love the Witch of the Woods. Might be my favorite character in a game full of amazing characters. Also, I slept on the shield tree my first playthrough too, but the Block Break is super useful in stunning an enemy to start a fight or stopping a heavy attack from a enemy. Anyways, so hyped to find another episode in my feed already!
i noticed quite of few others already addressed/suggested couple of good points such as - wood plates above which can be broken - explore despite you got ONE HIT by enemies because other places can still provide you with upgrades Now.. before i forget again (i wish to mention this in the 1st Part) CONSIDER to move YOUR 'window' just above HEALTH/RUNIC/RAGE BAR so that the viewer can see (for example) your health/rage regen(or depletion) and PERMAFROST gain. Another note, IF YOU CAN STILL LOAD SAVE POINT BEFORE searching the Lamb's Crest at the Witch's Home. Actually there was OTHER 'interesting' DIALOGUE(but not important) if you go to Atreus FIRST before CLAIMING the Lamb's Crest. With that being said, i wish to point out again, it is a good habit to MANUALLY SAVE at certain point(read: religiously) in the game. The game will do 10 Automatic SAVES on your behalf, and you have ANOTHER 10 SAVE SLOTS which you need to do yourself. Total 20 SAVES.. make use of them. 5:55 "i keep forgetting to test out this one (skill)" i wish to suggest (for Kratos only) to JUST BUY ONE SKILL at a time. Choose the skill you want, then immediately train with it (not in battle) and APPLY it afterwards IN BATTLE. Once you familiar with the skill, REPEAT the process of purchasing another skill. You will see improvements. 1:00:50 "we have (talisman)Luck of Ages right now and it gives us a ton of luck.. I feel like luck could be a really good thing for us, I don't want to get rid of 12 of it, that's half.." i REALLY love you elaborating/explaining the reason behind your action. This way i can understand more what you have in mind. 1:12:45 [Treasure Map - Hunter Kingdom] if you explore, you will find it. But that is not my main point.. you mentioned "SOLID Steel".. Remember that you are currently collecting "SOFT Steel" instead. the NAME itself is self explanatory. Since you have spent SOFT Steel for Atreus.. i highly suggest to keep/reserve most of SOLID Steel for Kratos. Refrain yourself from spending SOLID Steel on Atreus IF POSSIBLE. Decide what you want to upgrade (with collected SOLID Steel) on Kratos after you done exploring before proceeding with the Main Journey. 1:17:55 [collected (from the lake) - Aegir's Gold] important resource for upgrades, yet it is easily found. Some 'exceptional' armor needs this,.. IF you explore. (yes, i am hinting) 1:22:52 [viewed ENCHANTMENTS - and purchased] if i may tell you in advance.. there are some of things you really do NOT have to purchase AT ALL because the ONE(S) provided along the game (especially in exploration) are better. within main journey - better enchantments, slightly better armors(NOT worthy to waste resources on them for upgrades). within exploration - pommels/handles, significantly better enchantments, much more useful talisman, significantly better armors (worth upgrading - if they are capable of max 3 sockets per armor piece) note: BETTER does not depends on STATS alone, PERKS activation also play a role here. Hey kali! Got some more tips and insight for ya! I hope they're helpful. 1. The mystic gateways/fast travel doors: as Brok said, they're only one way for now.( It only takes you straight back to the golden temple). But progress the story and it will be fixed. But the good thing is it can fully restore your health, so if you come across one, go up to it and press Circle to activate. Note: you can't activate it during combat. 2. The Armor: You can either buy the full armor set or mix and match to better suit your preferences. Me personally i like a balance to my stats and attributes, but sometimes I do make sn exception and get a full armor set. Some pieces of armor and talismans can unlock more enchantment slots once upgraded. The max slots a piece of armor or talisman have is 3. You can also find armor in chests, though they aren't really that great as compared to what you can buy and craft in the shop. But that's your choice, you do you.😁 However in GoW Ragnarok it's kinda different, both the armor and equipment from chests and the shop are pretty good. 3. Sindri: he's what you call a Germaphobe. Lol
Sleeping on your back constricts your airways leading to labored breath and the feeling of a heavy chest, hence the recurring myths across different cultures of demons seating on top of your chest as you sleep. That or actual demons 🤷♂ I don't like sleeping on my back so i never had that happen to me but i did have some sort of sleep paralysis event where i woke up in the middle of the night and saw a black shadowy figure standing in the room looking at me. Good times.
Alright, I finally made my way to God Of War playthroughs. Two episodes in, the first thing I want to point out is some of the best voice acting I've ever heard in a videogame. Specifically Atreus. It's not easy to make a child character sound, well, like a child and natural at the same time. I've seen way more cases of their voices sounding fake and annoying, but this game does it right. Same for the witch, what a beautiful voice. In general, I'm a huge voice acting geek, so witnessing such a stellar work is an absolute treat. Loved it how you nope'd the other way once you realized the scales belonged to something alive lmao 1:36:18 Well, that's pretty modest by God Of War standards, if you ask me hahaha
I agree, but it’s not voice acting, it’s motion capture. So all the emotions you see on the faces of the characters is the actors expressions when they’re acting out the scenes. It’s literally like a live action film they just place the character models over the actors and animate the world around them. Just calling it voice acting diminishes the hard physical work that goes into the making of this and games like it. Many games don’t use voice acting anymore really. Voice acting is still a great medium but saying it’s voice acting is giving the impression that they are sitting comfortably in a chair with air conditioning and a drink beside them as they read into a microphone. But it’s not. Not trying to argue or anything just trying to be informative. It’d be cool to see Kali react to the behind the scenes of the new god of war games as well when she’s done with these games. All the og god of war games were basically voice acting. There still was motion capture involved but it wasn’t the actors it was separate people then the voice actors would record their lines way later in a booth. The only og game that was actually the actors doing the motion capture and actually acting it out was ascension. Anyway have a good day👍🏻

If you attack with your fists and Atreus arrows at the same time, you can stun even large enemies very quickly. Try doing this and you will surely realize that sometimes it is much easier and faster to stun some enemies than to kill them with the axe. I'm really looking forward to a new episode. When GoW2018 first release, people go crazy theorizing what the World Serpent was saying. I didn't think much about it when I played it, I just thought it was a cool interaction with the big snake. There were no official translation, but some of the answers(theories) are pretty interesting (and now that I've played the both games, it kinda make sense).
Id hold off on side questing/exploring…youre still in the tutorial beginning, youre guna acquire things u need to unlock stuff later and help you explore!
I played this for the first time last year, and it was before I played all the older games... I was just as clueless as Atreus of Kratos' past and background 😂 Really wish I took your path through these games. Oh also! Quick tip with the guarding / parrying since the game doesn't do the best job of explaining it: Yellow ring attacks can't be blocked (as you pointed out at the start of the episode), but they can be parried. Or just dodge. And red ring attacks have to be dodged
Might wanna see if you can move ur silhouette during gameplay so we can see the health and know how urgent certain fights and situations get. Feels like were a little more invested that way 😅
54:30 those are specifically called night paralysis, not sure what causes it but I’ve had the paralysis without an actual nightmare associated with it while sleeping in my back. Night terrors are somewhat similar and significantly worse
same with me! no nightmare per say, but just a heavy feeling on my chest and being "awake" but not able to move. one time people were standing around me staring. another time I did see something shadowy sitting on my chest, but I didn't want to look at it.
Haven't started this yet but wanted to give a few tips, which will help with this game and the next: - If you haven't noticed, when aiming the axe for a throw, R1 sends it flying horizontally and will send it flying faster and further, while R2 sends it vertically, which is a more powerful throw against enemies but does not go as far. This tip may help with reaching things that seem farther away - It's better to leave the health orbs on the ground if you don't really need it, and come back to them after a battle. - Do not be afraid to lower the difficulty, especially for CERTAIN side-bosses, the hardest ones in the game (people who played this know who I'm referring to). - As someone else said in the last episode, explore! Even if characters might tell you to move forward, you are Kratos, and Kratos does what he wants 😂 - Also, wooden things laying on the ground produce nothing when you smash them. It's the vases that do. So the clay and silver pottery will but wooden boxes and carriages won't.

Small detail observation....at the very beginning of your video. Brok tells Atreus to be careful of the bad charecters they're likely to run into...when Atreus asks why, he humors him by giving a few sarcastic answers to illustrate the basic need to be careful BECAUSE they do not know the answer and the unknown can be dangerous....later on, when Kratos and Atreus have just departed from the Witch of the Woods, Kratos tells Atreus to be careful of the water, when asked why, he responds with a sarcastic question ' can you see what is under the surface?' An Atreus responds with no, it Is pitch black......He learned that method of teaching a lesson from Brok earlier that day....I never noticed that before....I've beaten this game many times and watched countless playthroughs....and I'm astounded to still catch new congruent story moments like this....this game was a true masterpiece in interactive storytelling....I've watched your entire journey so far with GoW and I thank you for the opportunity to revisit this ❤....you're still learning skill wise but I enjoy your attentiveness and if you have any gameplay or Lore questions....anything at all....hit me up....FoodManDave on IG or davidabryantjr@gmail.com or digitaldavegaming@gmail.com

Atreus isn't wearing Kratos' skirt from the old games. I don't know who said that but it's not at all correct. If someone said Kratos looks like his Brother Deimos then that would probably be a more accurate detail to point out.
The combat mechanics are not as good as the older games but still a pretty good game with beautiful graphics. My favorite game in the franchise is still god of war 3.

Also the constant talk from Atreus on "these things are X, or Y. not sure." are generally nods to lacking information, conflicting information or simply miss understanding having caused data loss or corruption. It is a great way to include mythology creatures and items which lack coherent info, which is very common in Norse myth sadly. But it also opens the door for creativity where it otherwise might be too locked into places, like it is for the much more detailed Greek mythology. Also dont appreciate his "the sea stinks" comment. As a lad from Hamburg, a big maritime city, I feel insulted. -5 points on the score plan for the next cookie. Also yeah, Broks "none of your business." is a classic old "dont question the devs way of giving you the crafting area in places" approach. Its hilarious, its explored a lot as to how he does it, but it remains funny to build on an excuse to why you keep having his shop on hand in the weirdest of places that is only rivaled by the boldness of Resident evil games. Also the world tree, oh boy, a lot to say on it. wont though. it will be explored in the future, so best to not look into it out of curiosity yet. Ah, yes, Sindri. Now i conveniently remember his name. Odd that huh? so forgetful of me. Anyway. Yes he is the better half of the brothers. The more directly loving and caring one and very polite, if a bit bad with dirt, and grime and anything disgusting. Also yes, a tiny bit precognitioned. Again, probably more a joke on "its a game, they are your shop" stuff. They both have an insane amount of lore to them, but they will tell you all of it. The two best things in this series along side the main duo of Atreus and Kratos. Cant wait for more.

Meeting the world serpent for the first time is still one of my favorite things in video games I've ever experienced.

It's not easy to make a child character sound, well, like a child and natural at the same time. I've seen way more cases of their voices sounding fake and annoying, but this game does it right. Same for the witch, what a beautiful voice. In general, I'm a huge voice acting geek, so witnessing such a stellar work is an absolute treat.

I agree, but it’s not voice acting, it’s motion capture. So all the emotions you see on the faces of the characters is the actors expressions when they’re acting out the scenes. It’s literally like a live action film they just place the character models over the actors and animate the world around them. Just calling it voice acting diminishes the hard physical work that goes into the making of this and games like it. Many games don’t use voice acting anymore really. Voice acting is still a great medium but saying it’s voice acting is giving the impression that they are sitting comfortably in a chair with air conditioning and a drink beside them as they read into a microphone. But it’s not. Not trying to argue or anything just trying to be informative. It’d be cool to see Kali react to the behind the scenes of the new god of war games as well when she’s done with these games. All the og god of war games were basically voice acting. There still was motion capture involved but it wasn’t the actors it was separate people then the voice actors would record their lines way later in a booth. The only og game that was actually the actors doing the motion capture and actually acting it out was ascension. Anyway have a good day👍🏻

A little tip. If you attack with your fists and Atreus arrows at the same time, you can stun even large enemies very quickly. Try doing this and you will surely realize that sometimes it is much easier and faster to stun some enemies than to kill them with the axe.

When GoW2018 first release, people go crazy theorizing what the World Serpent was saying. I didn't think much about it when I played it, I just thought it was a cool interaction with the big snake. There were no official translation, but some of the answers(theories) are pretty interesting (and now that I've played the both games, it kinda make sense).

I played this for the first time last year, and it was before I played all the older games... I was just as clueless as Atreus of Kratos' past and background 😂 Really wish I took your path through these games.
Oh also! Quick tip with the guarding / parrying since the game doesn't do the best job of explaining it: Yellow ring attacks can't be blocked (as you pointed out at the start of the episode), but they can be parried. Or just dodge. And red ring attacks have to be dodged

54:30 those are specifically called night paralysis, not sure what causes it but I’ve had the paralysis without an actual nightmare associated with it while sleeping in my back. Night terrors are somewhat similar and significantly worse
same with me! no nightmare per say, but just a heavy feeling on my chest and being "awake" but not able to move. one time people were standing around me staring. another time I did see something shadowy sitting on my chest, but I didn't want to look at it.

Haven't started this yet but wanted to give a few tips, which will help with this game and the next:
- If you haven't noticed, when aiming the axe for a throw, R1 sends it flying horizontally and will send it flying faster and further, while R2 sends it vertically, which is a more powerful throw against enemies but does not go as far. This tip may help with reaching things that seem farther away
- It's better to leave the health orbs on the ground if you don't really need it, and come back to them after a battle.
- Do not be afraid to lower the difficulty, especially for CERTAIN side-bosses, the hardest ones in the game (people who played this know who I'm referring to).
- As someone else said in the last episode, explore! Even if characters might tell you to move forward, you are Kratos, and Kratos does what he wants 😂
- Also, wooden things laying on the ground produce nothing when you smash them. It's the vases that do. So the clay and silver pottery will but wooden boxes and carriages won't.

Small detail observation....at the very beginning of your video. Brok tells Atreus to be careful of the bad charecters they're likely to run into...when Atreus asks why, he humors him by giving a few sarcastic answers to illustrate the basic need to be careful BECAUSE they do not know the answer and the unknown can be dangerous....later on, when Kratos and Atreus have just departed from the Witch of the Woods, Kratos tells Atreus to be careful of the water, when asked why, he responds with a sarcastic question ' can you see what is under the surface?' An Atreus responds with no, it Is pitch black......He learned that method of teaching a lesson from Brok earlier that day....I never noticed that before....I've beaten this game many times and watched countless playthroughs....and I'm astounded to still catch new congruent story moments like this....this game was a true masterpiece in interactive storytelling....I've watched your entire journey so far with GoW and I thank you for the opportunity to revisit this ❤....you're still learning skill wise but I enjoy your attentiveness and if you have any gameplay or Lore questions....anything at all....hit me up....FoodManDave on IG or davidabryantjr@gmail.com or digitaldavegaming@gmail.com

Ah yes, the Witch. very caring lady, a rarity really given how the word is generally more negatively used for evil magic users of the female variety, in popular media of the past at least. She seems very caring though, and kind. Seeking to help whomever she can where she can, wishing to not have precious creatures die. An all too familiar goal.
Also the constant talk from Atreus on "these things are X, or Y. not sure." are generally nods to lacking information, conflicting information or simply miss understanding having caused data loss or corruption. It is a great way to include mythology creatures and items which lack coherent info, which is very common in Norse myth sadly. But it also opens the door for creativity where it otherwise might be too locked into places, like it is for the much more detailed Greek mythology.
Also dont appreciate his "the sea stinks" comment. As a lad from Hamburg, a big maritime city, I feel insulted. -5 points on the score plan for the next cookie.
Also yeah, Broks "none of your business." is a classic old "dont question the devs way of giving you the crafting area in places" approach. Its hilarious, its explored a lot as to how he does it, but it remains funny to build on an excuse to why you keep having his shop on hand in the weirdest of places that is only rivaled by the boldness of Resident evil games.
Also the world tree, oh boy, a lot to say on it. wont though. it will be explored in the future, so best to not look into it out of curiosity yet.
Ah, yes, Sindri. Now i conveniently remember his name. Odd that huh? so forgetful of me. Anyway. Yes he is the better half of the brothers. The more directly loving and caring one and very polite, if a bit bad with dirt, and grime and anything disgusting. Also yes, a tiny bit precognitioned. Again, probably more a joke on "its a game, they are your shop" stuff. They both have an insane amount of lore to them, but they will tell you all of it. The two best things in this series along side the main duo of Atreus and Kratos.
