    5 years of security updates 4 years of os update . That's pretty much why you would get this phone it's 200 used (new condition) if you look it up online. There is no phone that will last 5 years then you could even use further by installing a rom because it's a popular model you get support from the community even after 5 years.

Which would pick between a53 5g and the phone I have. I downloaded pixel camera. Works flawless and I also downloaded call screening from the pixel phone that works flawlessly. Appreciate your your reply

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Рік тому +1

      Honestly it's a little tough. I would say the Galaxy A53 5G is going to be a little bit of a better phone. It will get better software support in the long run, it will be a little faster, but not by too much, and the screen will be a little bit better. Better. On the other hand, the Motorola comes with a stylus. A built-in stylus can be really significant . To some people that's worth $100 right there. I would say depends on how much you use the stylus.
      There's also the factor of lost money. Every time you decide to sell a device or get rid of it, you're going to lose a good amount of money in that process. So maybe the A53 would have been a little bit of a better purchase up front, maybe, depending on how much you paid, but it might not be a wise decision to lose 50 extra dollars on what you have now to get it.
      A lot of it depends on why you're drawn to the A53. But personally I don't think it's a big enough jump up to sell your device and lose a little bit of money in the process and then trade up to it. It maybe best to wait on a crazy good deal, if you're interested in Pixel features, something like the pixel 6A will be just as good as the A53 too. I'd wait for a good enough deal and a good enough phone to pull the trigger.
      Feel free to share any more relevant information. I'll be happy to help.

    Fyi you can get it thru straight talk now for $199 and if it's on the Verizon network it can be unlocked after 60 days. Im torn between this and a pixel 6a. Seriously for $200 it's better right?

    Definetly recommend this. I've used straight talk for years and been using a s10e for about 6 years before picking this up for $200. Main selling point for me was the storage size of 128gb. Atleast for stratightalk most phones at that price point have 64gb or less storage

    (accidently)Got this baby almost the next day it came out as i was looking for something because I finally broke my S8 in a motorcycle accident( I was planning to get the S23FE ) and I don't think I am disappointed by that accidental purchase. It's actually a great phone if you are not a frequent phone user and don't use it for gaming. My battery lasts for 2-3 days tops sometimes when am drowned in work. Also, the camera was surprisingly good too. It's usually out of stock these days here in India.
    Edit: I rate it as a strong 9.5/10 because the face recog is a bit slow, or maybe am just a bit ugly :P

      Better then most phones at $200, that's for sure. If you don't like it though don't be afraid to return it! Going up and getting a Pixel 6a for $300 would get you a faster phone with a slightly better camera, just slightly worse battery life, a 60hz refresh rate and no sd card. But each person is different. But if you are happy with it, just know for $200 it's a great value with what you got.

    Apart from the speakers, which few of it's competitors can compete with, it's sold well because of the ridiculously high price of Samsung's premium phones. Pure and simple. For not a lot of extra tech, you can pay an extra $500 or £500 for a flagship phone, and when people are getting wise and buiying phones SIM/contract free, every upfront dollar you spend matters!

      A lot of it depends on the price. I managed to get a Galaxy A53 for like $150. Now I can trade that same Galaxy A53 for $250 to Samsung. They are offering some decent trade in deals on the new phone. On the other hand, the A53 could be bought for pretty cheap. It's a better value for sure. I think you are good either way honestly

    Can you buy any charging plug for this phone or is it specific? Meaning the plug for the wall.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Рік тому

      Sorry for the late response, I moved recently. Let me make it as simple as I can.
      There are two different terms that are important to know. USB-A and USB-C. Feel free to use google images to look up what they look like.
      The phone charging brick that goes into the wall can take a USB-A OR a USB-C cable. It depends on the charging brick you buy. Either one of these will charge your phone IF the other side of the cable is USB-C.
      So if you buy a charging brick with a USB-A port. you can use a usb-a to usb-c charging cable.
      If you buy a charging brick with a USB-C port, you can use a usb-c to usb-c cable.
      Basically, charging cables may have different types of connections on each side. The side that goes into your phone is ALWAYS usb-c. The type that goes into the charging brick needs to match whatever charging brick you have. If your brick is an older charging brick, it's normally a usb-a charging brick. So make sure you have a usb-a to usb-c cable. If it's a newer charging brick (with a very small hole) it's probably a usb-c to usb-c cable.
      Complicated. But hopefully this helps. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll respond as soon as I see it, and leaving a NEW comment (rather than on this thread) will help me see it faster.
      Thanks! and good luck

    I own one and have to disagree with the majority of the comments here. I had no complaints and thought it was great despite the occasional lag until a recent overseas trip to a country at 15-18 degrees C, I'm from a place at 30-35 degrees all year long. While there the phone froze out of a sudden - I went into Google maps, typed a place and it just didn't respond for minutes, then went into another app and it just sat there unresponsive. I had to restart the phone 4-5 times before things went back to normal and I lost my way on the train because of this. I think this was caused by the weather cos I can't think of anything else, I'm back home and it's working fine. Another issue that cropped up was the malfunctioning Google maps compass, though I've read that this is an Android problem in general. The freeze problem makes me think that this phone, in practice won't last beyond the 5 years of promised updates, it probably could become too slow a year later.

      Swipe the notification bar on the top of the screen down. Swipe it down a second time and you will see a power button on the top right hand side. If you press that power button it does have a thing that says side key settings at the bottom of the screen and you can change the settings to make the power button actually work as a power button rather than a bixby button

    Given those specs compare to the A33 5G, i believe the A33 5G is more value for money. Unless there is a software & OS update that gives a massive significant difference between A53 & A33, i believe the A33 is more value for money IMHO.

And they are normally pretty good about listing that. So I'm pretty sure they left it off the a33 too.

    I honestly am not a fan of recommending these upper mid-range phones because they just aren't worth the price I'm sorry to people they disagree but it's true. The whole point of companies discounting older flagships is to upsell u on current mid-range phones. 1-2-year-old flagship or even 3-4-year-old flagships or 4-6 to some extent maybe that's going a bit too far, for example when we look at phones like galaxy s8 wireless charging and the first phone to have Samsung jack and certain camera features, and in few extant better camera as well as glass-back which neither a series phones as even today and also a higher screen to screen body ratio.
    Let's look at the 4-year-old flagship galaxy s10 5G which u can find for under $300 that isn't the first phone I'd recommend it blows any a53 or a14 out of the water, especially in terms of gaming which is a pretty heavy category, better camera, better and brighter display and has flagship features like wireless charging Reverse wireless charging and wireless dex and many cameras features like expert RAW and it's also a glass back and much better screen to screen body ratio and overall just a mind-blowing phone even compared to a53 and with custom rok, u can get over 10 Android updates like the galaxy note 2 still get Android 13 with custom ram not that I'd recommend it but still.
    Comparing this to just the standard s21 which u can find for under $200 or even the s21 ultra for under $350 there is no competition even in the $500-$600 market.
    It's not 2014 when your older flagship becomes obsolete it gets 5 years of security updates now so considering all these factors and I can go on forever to get an older flagship it's cheaper and better than any current mid-range phone or u can go extremely cheap to an s10e for around $100-$120 or u can wait 6-7 months for a price drop and get the s23 for under $450. Like the a53 I'd say is a $200 phone in value and the a14 is under $100 worth of value

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Рік тому

      I respect that opinion and in many cases I agree. I think getting a one year old flagship phone is a great way to save money. But I would personally never recommend buying an older phone like a Galaxy S10 or S20 on the used market. Those phones could be 4 years old. The battery is very likely to be at 80% of it's capacity or less so battery life will be very bad. Add in a 60hz refresh rate on the S10. Add in the face that components have been aging for 3 to 4 years. Add in the fact that the S10 didn't get those updates like newer flagships. So wouldn't recommend.
      Even for the S20, with a higher refresh rate.. That's great. But again an aging battery and aging components is a real issue.. And buying one in 2023 means you are buying a phone with barely any longevity, barely any updates left.
      The S21 and S22 had terrible battery life.. So updates will be less of an issue. But battery life was bad on those phones before launch.
      And even new older phones get battery wear just sitting on a shelf by the way.
      So my opinion is that both options can be good. I agree that there are plenty of flagship phones from last year that you can get at a great price. You can get a Pixel 6 for like $300 or less. You can get amazing phones at really good prices, with plenty of updates remaining.. That's an incredible option. So I am with you.
      But I also think some of the downsides can also make it worth buying a phone like this. I bought an A53 used for $160. So the same money saving principals can be applied to this phone. People can buy this phone used and get it for a steal. Prepaid companies will be giving this away.
      So there are pros and cons. In the end, even though I maybe sounded against your idea, I'm not. There are just legitimate cons to consider. That's why I'll always recommend looking at phones that have been out about a year or less on the used market. And for people who don't want to do that, a phone like this is well worth considering when on sale

    • @Shan_Shah
      @Shan_Shah Рік тому

      @Android Digest I get what your saying talking about the s10 with 60hz honestly these mid-range phones can't utilize the 120hz and when playing gaming the s10 in many situations graphics are on par with the newer phone whereas the mid-range phones are capped at low or medium graphics at 30fps and only games like subway surfers get u 120fps. Considering the s10 is a 4-year-old phone and u being able to get the battery replaced very cheaply u can get 5-6 hours of battery on medium to high use which even in today's standard is somewhat acceptable and that is much better battery life than even some of the flagship in 2023 and as for software support u can always custom rom the device and get over a decade of support the note 2 on custom ROM is still supported with Android 13. So getting something like an s10 or s20 series in the majority of the area is better, there can never be something perfect but older flagships have more pros over new mid-range phones.
      The reason why the s21 and s22 have bad battery life is that the 888 and 8 gen 1 was having heating and throttling issues but are much superior to the Exynos found in the a53 talking about battery life the reason why mid-range phones have better battery life and Samsung putting 6000mAh in their certain m phones because mid-range phones have less technology inside and more room and have less to work with so your going to get better battery life even compared to current flagships.
      In conclusion the older flagships
      - Better Processor
      - Better Gaming
      - More Premium
      - More Features
      - Faster charging speed
      - Better display
      - Better Camera
      - Custom ROM will get u better software support
      - Cheaper than current mid-range phones
      - Spen (older note 10 and note 20 series)
      - Samsung dex (for s8 and note 8 series)
      - Wireless dex (for s9 series and newer flagships only)
      - Wireless charging
      - Reverse wireless charging
      Upper Mid Range
      - Better battery life
      - Better long javity
      ∴Therefore older flagships have much more advantages comparing to current mid range they may have something that look modern of paper but can't be utilized much in real life so yes u get your point and even have better battery life than current flagship but they older flagships win in majority of the area making the s10 series or s20 series a better buy overall or u can get the note 10+ or note 20 ultra which also has a built in spen and adds another category in the older flagship territory which is a major win-win and Samsung dex

      I agree with what you're saying. For me personally, the way I see it, I'm wanting to recommend what the customer would want. Some customers will prefer the software support and the longevity. Some people prefer getting a brand new phone and they don't want a used phone. In that case I will highly recommend this. But I'm always recommending used products on my channel too. I make my videos in such a way, or I try to, so when someone like you watches my video, you can make your own determination on that. But I did recommend the Galaxy Z Fold 4 on the used market since it's half the price and I'm frequently trying to recommend older flagships. I don't always like the recommend phones as old as the Galaxy S10. Especially on eBay. My audience could buy a phone like that, and it could have awful battery life or something that would be completely detrimental to them and I can't vouch for the people who would sell those.. but I at least try to recommend some older flagships and I try to recommend some new phones for those people that want those as well. I'm on the same wavelength as you. For the most part though. People who are willing to deal with a used phone are typically going to get a better deal

      @Android Digest u can actually get a brand new s21 ultra or s22 or maybe the s22+ for around $450. If u get the s22 it's a flagship so without a doubt thought these upper mid ranger will always have better battery life because flagships have more to work with but honestly I'd recommend the s21 series or s22/s22+
