Always find the mid range phones to be interesting because all of them offer value but the different manufacturers choose different paths. Google chose to give you a smaller screen and flagship processor, Samsung gives you a better screen with a slower processor, and Moto is somewhere in between.
For the time this phone came out(2022) and beyond, Samsung should never use an Exynos processor. They should save Exynos for their lower A-O and A-1 series of lower end devices. The A-5 series is always right at $500 and it's unacceptable that the upcoming A54 5g will use yet another Exynos chipset. I'm predicting it right now, the A54 might be slightly better on lagging and maybe even minimally better on optimization but it'll be mostly the same as the A53 5g. Samsung keeps playing with their Exynos experiment at the cost of loyal customers. And while I did briefly own a Pixel 6a and it was better than the A53 easily, it had its share of issues too. I think Pixels also have far too many software issues and I believe that their problems begin and end on the fact that Tensor is a modified Exynos processor. Exynos is the kiss of death processor for Android smartphones and why Samsung keeps using those garbage chipsets is beyond me. If Samsung were to use an older Snapdragon 7 or 8 series chipset, I guarantee you way fewer issues and it would run much smoother. They could even partner with Qualcomm in doing a 6 gen or 7 gen processor specifically made for the Samsung A54. Because if they keep it as it is with the Exynos 1330, I bet even the A34 using a Mediatek Dimensity 1050 will be much better as far as optimization and no issues with software.
It depends on what you want, need and expect. I had the 52s 5g and that's a very good phone, probably the better phone, but I kept turning off the 120 hertz and felt like I have too keep up with the speed, made me nervous. So I gave it to my son (16 years old) and that works fine for him and I took the a53 for 288 Euro's and with the 120 hertz off and animation scale to 0,5 in developers options it works perfectly fluet and at a good pace for this old lady, so everybody's happy. I like it more than my pixel 6a, but I'm weird....😁 Nice video!👍
All personal preference, and those are actually great tips for this phone. Don't give it a chance to hang up by not asking it to run at 120hz. Thanks!
I got it for $150 brand new and unlocked in Japan and love it :)
What is the Android version ?
This the phone I bought literally a month ago or just few days before this video. Btw the chin on my phone is literally not there as it is covered a screen protector and even if I try to see a chin there is none as it is hidden by my screen protector which has a drop protector something on the sides
I have had mine for a year and totally love ❤️ it. It's the best phone I ever owned.
youve got any heating issues with your A53?
I work at a liquidation spot im im picking one up for 158 canadian bucks. Crazy deal
I just got these for $200 in a metro store was wondering if it was good phone until I saw these video help me a lot thanks
@StevealiciousTech in my own opinion is good and fast also for someone that needs an app for hearing loss is great and for diabetes apps too and phone calls are clear don't have problem when I had the Nokia x100 I had a lot of problems with it but so far these one is a great phone so far. I just subscribe to your channel
Had mine for a year and a half... No issues
4:04 exactly - no microSD is a scam.
i'm not going to invest in their cloud service, i want my files locally.
also what good is a cloud service on a MOBILE where you don't have reception?
you also can't upgrade the internal storage - which again is what they want - planned obsolescence. Whereas with microSD, if you need more space you just buy a new card.
you also can't swap them out. i can swap SDs out with my action cameras, plug it into my main computer to transfer stuff, use a USB on the go adaptor to share files between phones, etc.
I know you can share files on bluetooth and wifi etc, but that is very slow, unreliable, and it drains battery fast. Might work for one or two photos, but anything big like a big video or a large collection of photos will take ages to transfer with anything other than a direct connection.
I considered the a53 5g last year briefly. But after seeing how poorly optimized and laggy the performance was I decided to skip it. In my experience the Exynos processors are not only bad on performance but also on battery life and standby time. All of which are big deals to me. Samsung was onto something using all Snapdragon chips in their s23 lineup and should do the same thing in the a series too.
just add some thermal paste to it and it will work better.Remember that the cooling system on the A53 is horrible.
I just bought it today
I forget which tech reviewer it was but they used to always complain about how European countries always got stuck with Exynos while the US got Snapdragon. I guess that changed?
I've never heard anyone crow about Exynos being a great chip and I see that streak wasn't broken here 😂
Sort of, at the flagship level Samsung is giving Europe SD now, but the mid-tier stuff still gets exynos it would appear.
In my venue no there nothing that says wow more crap in box
Really exnyos is that bad, I have a lg k92 5g with a weaker processor and I don't have any of these problems that a53 does. Great video tho
@@StevealiciousTech and I was about to buy one too but then I decided that I really like my lg phone a lot so I kept it
128 storage / 6 gb ram version from tracfone for 219.99 right now. I destroyed my 50 dollar samsung dropping it too much and am torn about spending that much on a phone that hopefully would last a few more years. I do like that it is waterproof.
This phone sux. No wireless charging. No MHL to mirror screen on tv. Its slower than my old phone. Thjs phone is a huge disappointment for a $500 phone. Seems every time samsung makes a phone better and charge more for it ,its a worse phone.
I absolutely do not reccomend this phone.
Damn and i just ordered it from straight talk yesterday
@TrainerJeremywantstobattle works great with straight talk after the optimizations . This phone is fast, not s series fast but fast enough for day to day tasks.
I can't bash it completely...as much as I wanted to.
Should I choose this or pixel 6a? both are in a similar price range. The pixel has the edge in performance and camers but lacks at the battery department.
Eh, the A53 isn't exactly a battery beast. I get about the same on both. Personally, I'd go 6a for $300, but I can see reasons for both. Depends what's important to you.
@@StevealiciousTech thx 👍
What about the A22 5g?
Why not just buy the pixel 6 for like 230.00 bucks on Amazon or eBay in mint condition
