If you look closely at Hideki's drumkit as he is in his solo, you'll see an iPad next to him on a stand. That is there for 2 reasons: 1. for some songs, Babymetal does play to a backing track. As you've noticed, there is no piano, keyboard, or synth on stage, so what you are hearing is the backing track. That is all controlled by Hideki, and fed through their in-ear monitors, so they are all in sync with the timing of the track. 2. effects. In this video, Su is just 16 years old performing at the famous Budokan arena in Japan. I believe BABYMETAL are still the youngest band/artists to perform there. The Beatles have performed there too. She has such a commanding presence that you forget that she is a tiny girl on that stage, at just 5ft -1inch (155cm) tall. She may look like a tiny mortal, but she is a metal goddess. I read a recent comment that described the lyrics best: She is singing about "a nightmare running away from a monster she can not see...she is exhausted and hides in a well. And she gives up and just asked the monster to show itself to know what she was running from before she dies.". This is one of their darker songs. Of the 50+ BABYMETAL songs, Su's solo songs have more depth lyrically. BABYMETAL concerts like these, especially the ones in Japan, are about 1.5+ hours long, and because the girls go hard on every song, the other two girls, Moa and Yui, use Su's solo as a chance to take a break. Great reaction! 🦊🤘
Thank you for sharing this information. All these facts make Babymetal even more amazing. I was wondering where the other two were so thanks for explaining. 🙂
Excellent reaction, I really enjoyed that. To give you even more to be impressed at about Su, the part where she looked like she was levitating with her head bowed really was her singing. I had always assumed that part was either on the backing track with the piano and additional instruments or that there was an effect added to make her sound like she was singing through a tube (in other shows that may have been the case), but a musician who reacted to this explained she was doing it herself by pressing the mic against her nose and singing across the top of it (which would explain the angle of her head and how she was holding the mic). Su was 16. BABYMETAL are the youngest average age female band to headline at the Budokan (a very prestigious venue). Younger bands have played there as an act within bigger shows maybe singing one song or whatever, but just one very slightly younger male band headlined their own show (somebody did once tell me their name but I can't recall it at all). I'm looking forward to whatever BABYMETAL song you react to next time ... they will surprise you again and you'll have another new favourite song.

Babymetal mixed in instrumental solo intros every here and there in live performances, not in MVs tho. It's part of the show. Here are some songs that (usually) have similar intros: - CATCH ME IF YOU CAN - AWADAMA FEVER - YAVA - RONDO OF NIGHTMARE - KAGEROU And of course there are instrumental songs without the singing: - DEATH - IN THE NAME OF
It's funny you touched on the having good time and showing it as a metal musician. A lasting memory for me as a 13yo is ,1992, seeing Dimebag from Pantera smiling his ass off while shedding up a storm and having a great time. From that point I figured out heavy music can make you feel good and listened for heavy music that made me smile .2020 found heavy music that makes me smile , it worked.😀🦊🤘
I think most of us fans agree that the Kami band deserves more time in the spotlight. It‘s a real pity that they are tucked away in the background most of the time and have to wear those masks now. Their contribution to BABYMETAL‘s success (at least in the west) cannot be overstated. Rondo is one of my favourite songs, the haunting atmosphere is awesome. It’s not particularly sad, but the sheer beauty of the melody and Su‘s voice sometimes makes me tear up. If you don’t mind doing another Su solo next, my recommendation would be Akatsuki: ua-cam.com/video/DWRMx68jRCk/v-deo.html
Super reaction! *BabyMetal* was originally created as a Sub-Unit of a school-themed female idol group named *Sakura Gakuin. They have more than 10 albums, normally they release 1 new album every year when some of their members graduate from *Sakura Gakuin.* Like *BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin* performs live and uniquely choreographed for each song. I also listen to *Sakura Gakuin* since 2015 day after day ... Each song is unique and different, to say that the songs of the sub-unit called *MiniPatii,* (which by the way, were presented by Yui and Moa) their instrumental it is 8 bit sounds! Nice video! I would assume that the others already told you some information about the song. I will just add some. We, BABYMETAL fans believe that the intro was done to summon Sumetal from hell and you need a talent of that caliber to perform the ritual. In the part when Su used a certain vocal technique (dunno the specific term), she pleads the unseen creature to at least show its figure to her right before it kills her. Also, in these Su-metal's solos, Yui and Moa were taking a break and it's also believed that they were doing their homeworks backstage. So, for my suggestion, I would like to suggest their song "Akatsuki" Live at Budokan Black Night. Its from the same concert with this video and this is my favorite among Su's solos. The melodies, the instruments, everything is at its best. So I hope that you would do this next. Catch you at the foxhole!
I love how everyone's reaction to the first two guitar solos is headbanging "Man, he's shredding it." Then, when you get to the bass solo, it's just literally jaw-dropped awe!
Your faces communicated pretty well that, after you got roughed up by the band members, you got all but finished off with a figurative punch to the face by a 16 year old Japanese girl who was maybe 155cm/5'1" at the time. I don't think you expected that when you started this channel ;) I agree, you can't really pinpoint a song that's "BABYMETAL style", because everything is essentially their style and no song is really comparable to another. I think the early songs (in other words, available on UA-cam) that best represent Babymetal are the live performances of Megitsune, Headbanger and Ijime Dame Zettai. These three songs, while being completely different from one another, include everything they do best and which is essential BABYMETAL. Slow/quiet parts, fast/heavy parts, a lot of transitions, constant high energy on stage, the band shines, Su's vocals shine, Moa & Yui shine with their choreo, the lyrics are about something the girls can relate to and of course crowd interaction. You already did two of them, so maybe you should do Ijime Dame Zettai (No More Bullying, Forever or lit. Bullying, No Good, Absolutely) next, live at Sonisphere festival in the UK in 2014, which was their first performance in front of a big crowd in the west ua-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/v-deo.html Unfortunately the band took a backseat at shows, especially in their 2019 pro-shot concerts. They were really far back on stage and you really needed to look for them to know there even was a band. The solos/intros started decreasing in 2017 and the last intro they did was at Yui's last show in Oct 2017. In 2019 they even started to wear masks, as you already mentioned, probably because of the addition of the "Western Kami Band" they did their EU/US tour with. If you consider Babymetal lore, the Kami Band members don't have names, they are only the Gods of Guitar, God of Bass and God of Drums, so they probably started to wear masks because they didn't want to introduce even more "Gods". Luckily the band was more prominent again in their two night 2020 pro-shot concerts in January and the Western Kamis even got an intro again on the second night before Kagerou. The two bands even performed together for the last song both nights, which was pretty incredible. But, BABYMETAL is the girls, so even if I don't really like how the band got almost irrelevant on stage in 2019, you can't really blame management for giving Su, Moa and the Avenger on stage the almost exclusive spotlight. The shows definitely weren't worse because of it and it's also not like the band wasn't incredible just because we didn't see them as much.
The “Mischiefs of Metal Gods" intro is a ritual performed by the gods of guitar, bass & drum to summon the Metal Queen Su-Metal. because in this song her human soul has been trapped in the recurring nightmare with no way to escape. the Kami Band in this show are : - Leda Cygnus (1st guitar solo) in the past usually play with 6 string, but now he's using 7 or 8 string. - Takayoshi Ohmura (2nd guitar solo) in this song he's using 7 string guitar named "Golden Moon". but, during the extra show "BM Metal Galaxy World Tour in Japan" in 2019, both him & Leda was using 9 string guitar (ESP E-II MF-9 BabyMetal). - B.O.H (6 string bass) - Hideki Aoyama (drum) his little brother (Yuki Aoyama) and father (Jun Aoyama) also a drummers. but, sadly both passed away. his father is consider as one's of the best drummer coming from Japan.
Normally i don't like ads, but as I mentioned to many BM reactors before: the Budokan bluray is very cheap. I payed under 10 Euros (Amazon) and it is worth every Penny! So get yourself a nice christmas gift! Greets from Germany and stay safe!
Great reaction, having your gal there made it even better! Could be wrong, but you can't just book that venue, I think you have to be invited to play Budokan ("THE ONE" will let us know). Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult
Great reaction! Like many other people, i had heard of Babymetal but didn' really give it a try due to the gimmick of young cute girls singing and dancing to metal. But during the first lockdown i dived into them and other japanese bands and got blown away. I would also recommend other Japanese rock/metal bands like Band Maid, Lovebites, Waggaki Band, Mary 's Blood, Nemophila etc. Also (and that goes for all of them) try to react to their live performances, they all give a unique and amazing show and the crowd is really into it. Greetings from Greece, stay safe and rock on!
Awesome reaction as always! If you enjoy how talented the Kami are you should definitely check out Hill of Wisteria live by them. There are two different versions on UA-cam, one was done before one of the guitarists (Mikio) passed away, the second is done at a tribute concert to raise money for Mikio’s family after his passing. Try to react to the one with Mikio in it before doing the one after he has died to get the full context of the emotions on display in the memorial version. But either way it’s an incredible instrumental performance I can guarantee you will love.
Great reaction guys. To see more of the kami bands excellence, please react to “ CATCH ME IF YOU CAN”, also live at the Budokan. Do not play the live compilation.
Nice choice - a Su solo. Babymetal always shine brightest live! Keep on reacting to Babymetal, please. You know you're watching Babymetal when your face is melting around your big smile - that's the Kawaii/Cute Metal effect! Oh, and another Su solo of epic proportions with a guitar duet in the middle is Akatsuki ua-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/v-deo.html
that's a common take, but the name "mischief of the gods" suggests an alternate explanation -- while the girls are away, the gods will play. but when su returns, they're all business.
Backstory of Kami band. The fox god summoned the Gods of metal to assist Su, Yui, and Moa on their journey to unite the world of Metal. Mikiko who sadly passed away in 2018 was also one of the Kami gaturist

Thank you again for sharing the information. I love learning this stuff about the band. Glad you enjoyed it! See you next time. 😁

Next reaction should be either "Akatsuki live at Budokan Blacknight" or "Road of Resistance live in Japan". Heads up: Road of Resistance tends to get blocked, other reactors have put the Babymetal logo over the onscreen video to avoid the copyright block! Have fun!

Babymetal mixed in instrumental solo intros every here and there in live performances, not in MVs tho. It's part of the show. Here are some songs that (usually) have similar intros:
- CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
- AWADAMA FEVER
- YAVA
- RONDO OF NIGHTMARE
- KAGEROU
And of course there are instrumental songs without the singing:
- DEATH
- IN THE NAME OF
Great !
Your reaction are so fun.
Thanks very much!
Loved your reaction. This is a killer song!
I'm very much enjoying your guys' reaction. :D
(さくら学院)*
They had several sub-units, such as:
*- Baton Club Twinklestars*
*- Tenis Club Pastel Wind*
*- Cooking Club MiniPatii*
*- Heavy Music Club BabyMetal*
*- Newspapers Club SCOOPERS*
*- Science Club Kagaku Kyumei Kiko LOGICA?*
*- Go Home Club sleepiece*
The sub-unit *Heavy Music Club BabyMetal* attracted a lot of everyone's attention with their first song and video *Doki Doki Morning,* they did not waste the situation and continued with the theme until *BabyMetal* became independent of *Sakura Gakuin.* They gained international fame with the song *Gimme Chokko !!*
*Sakura Gakuin* has 12 members who some graduated each year and new members are received for a total of 12. *Sakura Gakuin* began in 2010 and continues to this day.
And the sub-unit *Science Club Kagaku Kyumei Kiko LOGICA?* With Disco music instruments!
In case you would like to react to Sakura Gakuin:
*My Graduation Toos* - Here you can see Suzuka, Moa and Yui very young
*Sakuraino No Avenue* - Suzuka Nakamoto
*C'est La Vie* - My favorite song
*Monochrome* - From the 10th album released in 2020
*Miracle, Pattyful, Hamburguer* - from the MiniPati sub-unit
*Dear Mr. Socrates* - from the Baton Club Twinklestars sub-unit
*Science Girl, Silence Boy* - from the sub-unit Science Club Kagaku Kyumei Kiko LOGICA? And so much more!
Sakura Gakuin and BabyMetal are owned by Amuse Inc.

Thanks very much for the info. I think we'll have to try Akatsuki soon. 😀
That high belt + breakdown is one of the HEAVIEST moments of heavymetal. Holysht.

I love how everyone's reaction to the first two guitar solos is headbanging "Man, he's shredding it." Then, when you get to the bass solo, it's just literally jaw-dropped awe!
The Kami Band are all well known musicians - they are only in the background, sometimes, in BM.
Such a nice couple! Awesome reaction! Great job! 🤘🦊🤘
Your faces communicated pretty well that, after you got roughed up by the band members, you got all but finished off with a figurative punch to the face by a 16 year old Japanese girl who was maybe 155cm/5'1" at the time. I don't think you expected that when you started this channel ;)
I agree, you can't really pinpoint a song that's "BABYMETAL style", because everything is essentially their style and no song is really comparable to another. Bullying, No Good, Absolutely) next, live at Sonisphere festival in the UK in 2014, which was their first performance in front of a big crowd in the west ua-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/v-deo.html
Unfortunately the band took a backseat at shows, especially in their 2019 pro-shot concerts.
Thank you so much for sharing all of the information. I'm loving learning all of these things about the band and seeing the amazing support. 😀🤘
The “Mischiefs of Metal Gods" intro is a ritual performed by the gods of guitar, bass & drum to summon the Metal Queen Su-Metal. because in this song her human soul has been trapped in the recurring nightmare with no way to escape.
the Kami Band in this show are :
- Leda Cygnus (1st guitar solo)
in the past usually play with 6 string, but now he's using 7 or 8 string.
- Takayoshi Ohmura (2nd guitar solo)
in this song he's using 7 string guitar named "Golden Moon". but, during the extra show "BM Metal Galaxy World Tour in Japan" in 2019, both him & Leda was using 9 string guitar (ESP E-II MF-9 BabyMetal).
- B.O.H (6 string bass)
- Hideki Aoyama (drum)
his little brother (Yuki Aoyama) and father (Jun Aoyama) also a drummers. but, sadly both passed away. his father is consider as one's of the best drummer coming from Japan.
Normally i don't like ads, but as I mentioned to many BM reactors before: the Budokan bluray is very cheap. I payed under 10 Euros (Amazon) and it is worth every Penny! So get yourself a nice christmas gift! Greets from Germany and stay safe!
Great, again:-)
Great reaction, having your gal there made it even better!
Could be wrong, but you can't just book that venue, I think you have to be invited to play Budokan ("THE ONE" will let us know).

Thanks very much! I know what you mean, once you get past that, you see how amazing they are. Excited to explore more of these bands. Cheers! :)
Thank you very much! I appreciate the information! This sounds so powerful. I'll try and find it. 😀🤘

"It shouldn't work...but it does." should be on Babymetal's letterhead. :D
this is what happen when Kami band summoning Su-Metal and they have few summoning spell for Babymetal to appear on stage.
Haha! I love that. 😁🤘
that's a common take, but the name "mischief of the gods" suggests an alternate explanation -- while the girls are away, the gods will play. but when su returns, they're all business.

there are a couple performance videos that aren't recommended, such as some festival footage with grossly incompetent audio mastering, but every babymetal song deserves to be heard.
Yeah, I personaly like to diss Glastonbury show a lot, not to mention I can't stand watching it.
It was not BABYMETAL being at fault there though (zombie audience and technical problems were 2 major offenders).
