I recently had my cap replaced and they used 26 guage galvanized which I understand is thinner than recommended. I live in hot humid rainy South Florida, so I expect this may rust through after only a few years. Has anyone here ever painted one to make it last longer in hot climate? I'm considering it but thinking the very hot temperatures on metal might make the paint peel and bubble making things worse. Any advice would be appreciated.
I just bought three chase covers made of .040 black aluminum. Thoughts about that material? Also, is there a standard size drip edge/length as it comes down the side?
