This is basically just a translucent base coat over a black canvas. Here’s a video that would help out to explain the translucent base Translucent Pearls: ua-cam.com/video/mQ5vdVAtZIA/v-deo.html
Your art is very organic. It’s like walking through a forest and coming upon a fallen log covered in mosses, lichens and fungi; all natural but beautiful.
This is so delicate Sara, I love the pearls, they’re like veining in marble, so beautiful. It must be difficult visualising the dried piece using the transparent layer, almost like painting in negative with a dark canvas. It’s so clever Sara, I love these paintings. 🙏🏻✨
Oh wow Sara! That's pretty dramatic and electric. The technique is most interesting when it dries. I look forward to your new paintings exploring this technique. You've chosen such a pretty grouping of colors which are very striking against the black background. Really like pineapple crush, flourscent purple!
Wow Sara when I first saw it developing I thought beautiful ur inspired by the season of spring .. I couldn't be more surprised when I saw the dried result .. such a shape shifter! Keep up the fabulous work x
As time goes on, I think I am starting to see what you see after a while and I'm so excited by it! I didn't really know where you'd start embellishments (especially with the purple, great choice!), but after a few of them I would think about a line that needed extending. You eventually went to those spots! Of course, you saw areas I didn't. I love that you throw in a video every once in a while with no voiceovers. I really strive to connect with your thoughts and "zone" in them! Gorgeous piece, sara! I feel like this is something beautiful we'd find in the depths of our oceans!
Sara, it's beautiful! Such a gorgeous example of the translucent Pearl basecoat. I haven't tried it yet but I'm just getting ready to mix up the paints to do it. I hope it turns out as nice as yours 💜
Hi, what’s translucent pearl base coat? Is it something you buy ready to use or you make it yourself? And if you make it, what are you using? Thank you.
@@dominusstyx the transparent pearl base is a base that will cause pearls on your top coated paints but when that transparent base dries, it dries clear so that you see the color of the canvas underneath it. In this case Sarah’s canvas was black. None of the paint she put on were black but when the transparent base dried you could see the black canvas that was there originally. To my knowledge you can’t buy the basecoat, but Sara explains how to make it in one of her other videos. I believe she highlighted it in her story underneath this video.
Wow, love the colors! Another beautiful creation Sara. Funny bc I was actually going to test a black base tonight myself. Not quite like this but was going to see how Deco Arts Obsidian worked w the pearl technique. 🖤
That is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen! It’s like a totally different painting after it dried. Was the translucent base simply floetrol? In all honesty, I wasn’t sure if I cared for the piece but the dried result is fantastic. The lacing really stands out, the contrast is beautiful as well as the movement and overall - I just love this. I can’t wait for more, Sara.❤️
Glad you liked the end result! Sometimes that it’s hard to picture it with the translucent basecoat, what it will look like in the end. The next day it’s always a surprise!
When I use an extremely thin translucent base like this, the black or under painting, usually comes through pretty dark. I did darken a few parts of it a little bit after it had dried.👍
Hi Sara, I’m so enjoying trying to do Pearl pours like you do them. But, some help please: what kind of tiny brush do you use to touch up/embellish your dry paintings? My tiniest brush doesn’t hold its point so I get flat flabby lines, thanks. 😃
@@SaraTaylor v many thanks indeed fir your kind reply. I did two Pearl pours yesterday that I’m fairly pleased with, but will work on one of them with the brush you suggest to outline some of the pearls! 🤞😃
Wow! I never thought the end product would turn out like that! Meaning, the dark background came through. It looks spectacular.
Thank you very much for sharing 🎨 😊
My pleasure 😊
I was so surprised with the dried result. Did not expect that much of a change. It turned out beautifully. Thank you so much for sharing.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching 😁
So beautiful, would love to see through your eyes as you create, you're a marvel
Thank you, I love that .🙏
What a unique technique Sara. I wasn’t sure that the black would come forward so dramatically. Bravo!👏
Thank you, Heather !
Oh my goodness, Sara! I thought it was gorgeous wet, but I gasped at the dry results. Absolutely stunning!
Thank you Erin, it shocked me a bit too!
Wow! Beautiful! Sort of tranquil, until it dried with the vibrancy in the contrast with the black! I like the color palette too!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it.
Oh wow! Another beauty! And a great surprise with the dried version! Love it! ❤️
Thanks so much! 😊

Gorgeous!!
How did that happen? And how did you know it would happen???!!! I’m stunned!!!
So the layer that I put first was a translucent layer, that dries clear and reveals the black canvas beneath it.
So beautiful 😍
How dramatic this dried ❤
Amazing results ❤
Thank you!!
SUPER ❤❤❤😮

How comethere was such a dramatic change when it was dry?
The basecoat was translucent, and the canvas underneath was painted black.
@@SaraTaylor Ah that's how, ?! beautiful! Would that be the deep base house paint ? Thank you for sharing your magic, I love your work.
😍🫶
The dried version looks like a completely different painting.
Right?!
