  • We have here a 1995 Ford F150, It's a crank no start without spark. The customer replaced the coil but it did not fix the issue. The shop replaced the wire and it worked for a week. Then they diagnosed a bad Ignition control module and it worked for a week again! Now it was towed back in... Hope you enjoy!

In a Factory Master AUTO Mechanics College i had to go to for years the Teacher made the class recite a poem at the beginning of the class every time is this: Most electrical problems occur at connections and are resistant by nature... this i have found is spot on...

Thank you for your teaching opportunity in this matter

I know this is an older video but thanks for making it. My distributor went bad and after replacement it will only crank/no start. Now I have somewhere new to look. The wiring in the truck has been pretty shoddy in most connectors so hopefully this is it.

Thank you for this great video. My ‘95 F150 runs, then while driving at it shuts off for a second as if I turned off the ignition key. Then after 1 second it comes back to life. If I’m accelerating it really jerks when doing that. This is very random and does not happen very often. Then I also run into the cranking and no start. I was suspecting the PIP sensor, but I will also check the connectors and fuse.

Another Great Video... yes these trucks are getting very old and many problems will happen. corrosion is going to happen. the wiggle test is always a good one... moisture and connectors will create a High resistance. after you clean connections for a very low resistance or a no resistance you forgot or don't know or don't care or are uneducated that you should learn to protect this connection with a simple injection of a thing called [ DIELECTRIC GREASE ] YOU should do your homework on DIELECTRIC GREASE... you can tell your customer you removed the POTENTIAL REOCCURRING corrosion issue on this connection that can last a life time. DIELECTRIC GREASE will stop MOISTURE you will learn... and the customer will come back for repairs because they will have trust in you...

Excellent vid. I believe the square wave is a very low current signal. So a little bit of fluff on that one could negate the signal. I thought u might pull out the MT 2400. I think it has all the diagram for all the connections built in to the program for those old cars. Mine does. It seems u have an All Data subscription. Getting pretty necessary now. I still thinks Identifix is great to have for the tech tips, If you have a system you are not familiar with alot of times a tech will have a way to test something that you didn't think of, saving a lot of time.

That means you have a bad coil. There is power on both sides because power comes in on one side, then it goes through the coil, and you see it on the other side; if your coil is open, you won't get it on the other side.

Advanced level? Ha. Front proping connectors is a no no.
With Ford tfi, check for pip signal first. It saves time. Also if the coil has 12 volts the distributor and icm will too. They all get power from the same circuit.
