right where you left me and it’s time to go are masterpieces. the concept of each of them being different endings for the album, one about moving on and the other about staying stuck is actually insane.
“Peter losing Wendy” too Edit: As well as “When you are young they assume you know nothing, but I knew you’d linger like a tattooed kiss. I knew you’d haunt all of my wordings. The smell of smoke would hang around this town. ‘Cause I knew everything when I was young.” I could go on really lol
Sigh of relief for me that you really like the song Evermore. An unpopular choice, I know, but it's my favorite TS song. Absolutely moves me whenever I listen to it.
1000% Though Exile is another top tier imo....listening to those 2 back to back is just 👩🍳🤌 Her voice& Justin's are so mf amazing each in their own rights, but together they're hauntingly beautiful. Like I feel like that duo is criminally underrated, if they came out with a whole album together it would be on repeat forevermore..
The justice for cowboy like me :'))))))) I'm absolutely obsessed with that song probably now in my top 5 favorite songs in Taylor's entire discography, it's sooooo beyond anything she's ever written I wish more people gave her the same energy they do to champagne problems 🙃
tis the damn season should have been the lead single. it would have been perfect for the holiday season. it’s one of her best songs, the nostalgia that i feel with that guitar rift ❤️❤️❤️
Yeah! Tis the damm season should have been a proper Christmas song and I'm disappointed it wasn't that. It was the perfect Christmas song for Covid and yet.....
I respect your opinions about happiness! But personally I like that song because it has a linear build in its instrumentation like a lot of speak now (which is fitting since happiness is the longest song on folkevemore), with almost a sort of ritual to get rid of bad feelings and demons (which is moreorless what the lyrics narrates about), also the line "now my eyes leak acid rain on the pillow where you used to lay your head" is such a taylor way of saying you cried yourself to sleep and I love it
Zacks track list 1. The 1 🤍 2. Gold rush 🧡 3. Ivy 🧡 4. elicit affairs 🤍 5. Right where you left me 🧡 6. Tis the dang season 🧡 7. Tolerate it 🧡 8. Mirrorball 🤍 9. My tears ricochet 🤍 10. Evermore 🧡 Bonus tracks - the last great American dynasty 🤍 - peace 🤍 🤍 = folklore 🧡 = evermore
when you mentioned that rwylm was a red song with a Midnights concept it really clicked for me that most of the songs on folklore are kinda "Midnights" songs.
Yep, and in a post TTPD world it's crazy that the break up songs she wrote with Joe are better and more insightful than the ones she wrote when she actually broke up with him.
@Labinzel i wouldn't say that, I would just say that by TTPD she had already said what she wanted to say about Joe and there wasn't much left. She was bored, she felt trapped and locked in and stuck. I truly think she thought she had to stick it out with Joe because he was the guy that she had written all these love songs about and portrayed as this perfect love. She didn't want to start over, she was clinging to it even though she knew it was dead. Then matty comes along and lights up her world and promises to be everything she ever wanted so she finally felt safe to leave because she thought she was walking into her true soulmate love with her twin. It was insanity born out of deeply deluded boredom. She was so bored with Joe and desperate for an alternative she was buying the shit Matty was feeding her. I think she worked out all her feelings surrounding her relationship with Joe by secretly writing about him in folklore/evermore/midnights. She had mined all of those thoughts and emotions and the well was DRY.
Seven makes me feel like it should be in the soundtrack for the 90s film A Little Princess. It reminds me of some of the themes (we’ll move to India forever, being stuck in an abusive household)
I love the genre of writing taylor took on more on Evermore, there's more elegant and picturesque imagery. Like Ivy, Evermore, Cowboy like me, and happiness.
Justice for Mad Woman! I come to this song so much, especially when I’m having a bad day. I think this is her most mature “feminine rage” song and without it we may not even have Vigilante Shit!
He's not a big stan of the man either and I have to say maybe it will seem silly but I resonate so deeply with the man and with mad woman, and I guess if there weren't that connection with the songs then they would be throw away songs to me 😂 vigilante shit however resonates AND is a bop. One of my faves
@@imawakemymindisalive13 I love Swiftoloigist but he just doesn't give Mad Woman the respect it deserves. He gave it a C and said he was being generous! To be fair, it may be hard for someone with a male perspective to connect with the song deeply because it's simply not for them .
champagne problems is very simple yes, but oh so relatable for someone who sabotages a good relationship (🙋♂️) Cowboy like me is the moment and will forever be the moment. periodt
yesss!!!I love champagne problems!! when i heard champagne problems I felt i could really relate to it, not because i turned down a proposal or anything.its just the feeling of remorse and regret and feeling like you ruined something that could have been perfect or "shredding the tapestry" that can never be fixed, and nobody will ever truly move on.
I thought august was such a pretty sounding and calming song until it got played to death on tiktok but still, I love the ‘humanising the other woman’ element in the song and that violin part towards the end is beautiful. Also, the first time i heard right where you left me and gold rush my jaw DROPPED, absolutely amazing imagery.
I highly agree with your descriptions of the songs and where I would personally rate them…other than Hoax!!! The complete despair and inability to let go of an abusive partner is detailed so perfectly it gives me chills. Mad Woman is higher for me too, the understanding and female rage feels so amazing to sing to. Folklore and Evermore will probably always be my favorite albums of anything ever. Literally timeless masterpieces to me ❤️
LITERALLY!!!! Hoax HURTS. The lyricism is sheer poetry and although it is open and leaves unfinished stories, it shoots down the whole “this is me trying” mentality, because why would you try if they know your every move. You can only be mad, like I’m mad woman. It’s INSANELY good
i actually like “no body, no crime”. the melody itself might not be that original but the lyrics are really interesting, giving us a murder mystery/true crime vibe, and it’s again another female rage song for me like mad woman. i feel like those songs are more relatable and empowering to women in general
i know this video is old but, cowboy like me is truly one of the best songs she has written. it is my second favorite song in her whole discography. the way i view it is a girl and guy (or whatever you want it to be) are at a wedding when he asks her to dance, she realises they are both players so she knows exactly what he wants because she is the same way. but then they end up falling in love and the line “never gonna love again” means she isn’t gonna love again because she believes she found her soulmate. but also the lyric “and i know i’ll pay for it” is saying she knows what his intentions could be but she truly fell for him. then later in the song when it says “and the skeletons in both our closets plotted hard to f this up - when you passed through town” is talking about how they maybe had a little falling apart when exes got brought up because they acknowledge their past and how they played people. but then it says “but that was all before i locked it down” saying their past is their past because she locked it down and knows he really is the one. anyway i know that was a long rant but that’s my interpretation 😭
I was really glad that "The Last great American Dynasty" went into iconic. On my first listen of the album this is the one I liked the most. Thought my choice was weird as everyone liked some other famous songs from the album. You really made me feel great 😊😭
The tracklist: 1. the 1 2. gold rush 3. ivy 4. illicit affairs 5. right where you left me 6. 'tis the damn season 7. tolerate it 8. mirrorball 9. my tears ricochet 10. this is me trying 11. cowboy like me 12. seven 13. invisible string 14. august 15. betty 16. evermore bonus tracks: 17. the last great american dynasty 18. peace
Omgggg the Betty Draper connection to tolerate it is so eye opening, especially with the image of polishing plates! Being a Swiftie and Mad Men stan is never dull😂
i love watching you rearrange track lists, it's so fun and i love getting to see the album(s) in a totally different light also it's great that you're setting a time for the premieres! i always miss them, but now that there's a schedule, maybe i won't have toooo
I love your appreciation for Cowboy Like Me. I think I could write a dissertation on why it’s one of the best written songs in American Music History, not just Taylor Swift’s discography.
This video got me to relisten and connect to some songs that didn't really grab me initially like ivy and cowboy like me, and I'm so glad I did! I have to admit, saying fans would only enjoy a particular song if they're "simple" or "stupid" felt needlessly mean to other fans, rather than focusing on the quality of the songs themselves/your personal experience of them. I really liked a lot of your other takes, even the ones I didn't agree with, so these comments kind of took me by surprise.
We all know august and champagne problems will be played on tour tho 😭 not that they’re bad songs; i just believe there are underrated gems that need the hype, such as seven/my tears ricochet and right where you left me/cowboy like me. For the eras tour, I can just imagine such an ethereal performance with my tears ricochet with taylor by herself on stage, wind blowing through her hair and a blue wash over her face. Loving the content btw :)
I 100% agree that “August” is overrated… HOWEVER “This is me trying” for me is an Iconic song, I guess I have an attachment to it, the meaning for me is very special.
It is not overrated, the fact that they are not prepared or have the musical ear to appreciate it is another thing, Agosto is a masterpiece both instrumetal and in production✨🫶🏼
as a this is me trying stan, i respect ur opinion but TO ME it is one of the best songs she's ever written (and i don't think it's fictional but that's my opinion). just something about the raw desperation of the lyrics and the metaphors she uses and the way it's almost begging really hits me. my opinion of it skyrocketed when i decided the "all i want is you" is not talking to an ex but to her younger self. great vid as always
I love that you did justice to seven, mirrorball, evermore, Ivy and Cowboy like me. Some of these are realy underrated and THEY ARE GREAT, some of the Best, realy never done before...about august...I love it, and I admit that I am a simple girl but also when folklore came out I realy related to it , I cried my balls out with that song slksks (its okay, I've moved on) but I understand when you say its overrated, even if it hurts
I would say that I disagree personally with where you put a couple of songs on the tier list, but your track list was acc perfect. Like it makes so much sense and you have included most of my favourite songs anyway so I acc love that sm
1. the 1 2. gold rush 3. ivy 4. illicit affairs 5. right where you left me 6. 'tis the damn season 7. tolerate it 8. mirrorball 9. my tears ricochet 10. this is me trying 11. cowboy like me 12. seven 13. invisible string 14. august 15. betty 16. evermore 17. the last great american dynasty (bonus) 18. peace (bonus)
Loved right where you left me ( the imagery is so good), ivy (country throwback) and cowboy like me ever since I heard it. Still are my most revisited highlights of evermore too. Good ranking of hidden gems throughout folklore and evermore.
YOU’RE A COWBOY LIKE ME, PERCHED IN THE DARK, TELLIN’ ALL THE RICK FOLKS ANYTHING THEY WANNA HEAR LIKE IT COULD BE LOVE 🤠 what a fucking smash HIT ms. swift my goodness
Absolutely loved the video as always! It’s mind boggling how similar our rankings are. I agree with all of your top tier songs, the only difference I would make to that tier is personally I would add this is me trying and long story short because those songs are very personal to me. But, I of course understand why they’re not there. Thank you for being an entertaining, funny, honest creator. This video made my day:)
my list: 1) cowboy like me 2) hoax (how dare you rank so low) 3) ivy 4) the lakes 5) my tears ricochet 6) tolerate it 7) seven 8) evermore 9) champagne problems (the heresy) 10) illicit affairs 11) gold rush 12) this is me trying 13) dorothea 14) right where you left me 15) mirrorball 16) happiness bonus tracks: coney island (meh) and cardigan!
I MADE MY OWN RESHUFFLE. FEEL FREE TO TEAT THIS LIST APART!!!! 1. the 1 (obviously) 2. it’s the damn season (it’s the other perspective) 3. Gold rush (maybe there’s more there than originally anticipated?) 4. Tolerate It (it starts crashing and burning) 5. Right where you left me (the breakup happens) 6. Illicit affairs (yearning and reflection stage) 7. Ivy (more reflection) 8. Cardigan (MORE REFLECTION) 9. Cowboy like me (new kindling romance!) 10. Lavender Haze (Acoustic) (it’s kinda like her relationship with Travis and how they’re just having fun!) 11. Mirroball (development between them) 12. Willow (how enamored she is) 13. Now body no crime (side plot with like, Selena Gomez undertones) 14. My tears ricochet (I once heard this compared to Selena and Justin, and I agree) 15. Seven (sort of missing her love from the first few tracks) 16. invisible string (contentment, happy where she is) 17. Mastermind (acoustic) “( it just a fits) 18. Long story short (finally coming to terms with everything she has learned 19. The last great American dynasty ( a comparison) 20. Champagne problems (it didn’t end up working out when she didn’t want to get married, see this is why lavender haze was included) 21. evermore (the final reflection, and coming to terms with what’s she’s learned ) Bonus track: Betty
The One is about Jake, I think. He’s the only ex she dated in her 20s when he was also in his 20s. I think that Roaring 20s reference is indicating that they were both in their 20s. She also mentions Rosé in both The One and Maroon and she hinted with her Red ring that Maroon is about the same guy as Red, as if it wasn’t obvious anyway with her using a dark shade of Red.
For me: Iconic never been done before: the1, exile, my tears ricochet, seven, ivy, cowboy like me, gold rush, tolerate it, happiness, dorothea, long story short Gorgeous: right where you left me, cardigan, illicit affairs, epiphany, mirrorball, this is me trying, willow, champagne problems, no body no crime Gowns: the last great american dynasty, invisible string, the lakes, betty, peace, august, tis the damn season, coney island, marjorie On my list: mad woman, hoax, on my list, evermore Be gone: My album: the1, exile, my tears ricochet, seven, ivy, cowboy like me, gold rush, tolerate it, happiness, dorothea, long story short, cardigan, illicit affairs, willow, champagne problems, right where you left me 1- the1 2- exile 3- cardigan 4- happiness 5- tolerate it 6- champagne problems 7- seven 8- cowboy like me 9- my tears ricochet 10- right where you left me 11- dorothea 12- willow 13- gold rush 14- illicit affairs 15- ivy 16- long story short Bonus songs: 1- this is me trying 2- no body no crime
The way that zach loves right where you left me so much that he forgot about it's time to go 😭It's time to go is one of my favs on folklevermore but it is sort of forgettable LOVED your ranking though you always create the most interesting and honest content about taylor and you are so articulate with your thoughts keep it up! ❤
13:04 I am so late to this video but I believe this now more than ever. except for the cardigan/Betty/August thing and one or two others. After the break up it started to feel more like these were things she was feeling, many about Joe but she didn’t want to let that be true yet.
The way I know you really know what you're talking about is how much you love Right Where You Left Me. I kinda accidently skipped RWYLM when it first came out, but something clicked in my brain later and I went "....this is one the best things she's ever written". Every time I hear that song my jaw hits the floor.
I don't always agree with your opinions but you always give a reason for them and it shows that there's thought behind every opinion of yours, which is respectable and admirable. THIS SAID, your opinions about evermore? I couldn't agree more with you 😩 The way I continuously gaslight myself into thinking that dorothea doesn't exist
I’d be interested to hear if any of your opinions have changed after the visuals on the eras tour. Willow , August and tolerate it come to mind for me. The visuals really brought out something different in the songs for me
love love love LOVE “the last great American dynasty”, “invisible string” and “mirrorball”… although I have to confess that august was my favorite when the album first came out 🤭
Besides Peace not being higher I can agree with your ranking for the most part. Hoax and August are good but not my favorite. I didn’t understand all of the hype from August but I still enjoy it!
I love your videos and I couldn’t help saving this one in my playlist to watch it later… still, I don’t think I’m strong enough o watch you put August in a “meh” category 🫣 The bridge is just divine and it hits the perfect sweet spot with being nostalgic enough but not overly cheesy. The narrator misses the past but is mostly aware that it wasn’t perfect and knows that the relationship was meant to fail from the very beginning. What’s there to say… I just love this song, one of my all time favourites.
Not bad, sir! I had to take a deep, deep breath before watching this! I am proud of you, and glad you’re enjoying making content. I am extremely pleased with your choices on this video.
I loved it when I first listened to it, but as I think many Swifties will agree, it doesn't age well. I don't think it's a bad song, but it's a skip for me now. I think I'd describe it as a great one-listen song.
I love 'the 1' but I also feel 'gold rush' from evermore and it also give haylor vibes . I not into haylor stuff either but this song my all all all time favorite . And it does deserves it's place that it didn't got. But it's a Master piece .
as a stan of both champagne problems and tis the damn season, i highly DISAGREE, but i appreciate tis the damn season getting the flowers it deserves. honestly i don't think it would make sense to someone LOVE a song like august for example (like most of the fandom) but not enjoy tis the damn season bc i feel that these are songs where the more "lo-fi-ish" production helps you picture the scenario. i believe most of the appeal people get from august is not only because of the lore but also bc the instrumentation reminds you of summer time and salt air AND THE RUST ON THE DOOR. to me, tis the damn season its like the winter sister, the production just feels chilly and i LOVE the image they used on the lyric video because it clicks instantly. as for champagne problems, i dont know if it's because english it's not my first language (i speak portuguese) but i just couldn't figure out what the song was about on my first listen because there was too many references (especially on the bridge) that i didn't get so i have a special attachment towards that song because everytime i watched people breaking down the lyrics i discovered something new.
literally i could relate to champagne problems so so so much!!! even if a song is considered "overrated" that doesn't make it BAD! especially the metaphor of "shredding the tapestry" and the feelings of remorse and regret of ruining something perfect are tooooo relatable and it cuts deep.
I disagree with what you said on epiphany, like yes it’s a little long and lots of instrumentals, but there are only 2 metaphors and I think she correlates them really well in the track
I completely understand the criticism you have had of epiphany and I know it’s not you’re favorite. For some reason whenever I heard this song for the first few times, I don’t think I understood what the intended message was. It took me back to a time many years ago to a horrific car accident I was in with a man I was dating at the time who ended up being in critical condition and in a coma for a very long time afterwards. He ultimately was never the same after it, and the song just took me back to the times of being in the hospital not knowing if he was going to live or ever wake up again. So that song always touches me in a painful way even though I know that’s not even close to what the songs about.
Omg yes i love to hear that tolerate it was also your top listened to song in 2021!! I listened to it 119 times in one week 🥴 girl was going through it
This is potentially the first time I’ve ever agreed with your opinions (though I always respect them). Your respect of the greatness of LGAD & gold rush has finally satisfied me!
Hey zack, i love your channel sm!!Youre really insightful anf funny ngl. Although I do agree with most of yout takes, but saying that people who like champagne probelems/august are stupid or simply was not necessary. I get what you were tryna say but music is a highly subjective experience. It's driven by personal connection rather than objective quality mostly. It provides you with a sense of superiority over the other swifties. I mean we all like to think that we have the elite taste and thats okay, but do not need to question someone's um well intelligence. I do know that evermore, cowboy like me and ivy are superior songs, I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THEM!! But i also do like august and champagne problems. Anyways love your content a lott❤
My longwinded thoughts on folklore The 1: Folkore came at a time when I knew my relationship with an ex was crumbling, and this being the opener already had me feeling attacked. Needless to say this song has only grown on me and earns the title of "sad bop". Cardigan: One of my favorite Taylor Swift songs, as is my right. "I knew you'd linger like a tattoo kiss" is one of my favorite lines hands down and it breaks me every time. The lyrics and the melody evoke such a specific feeling and the hype is well deserved. The Last Great American Dynasty: I love the storytelling, but I honestly don't come back to it unless I'm listening to Folklore or trying to show someone who's never listened to it. Exile: Another one of my favorites. Bon Iver and Taylor Swift's best collaboration. It it truly sent from the heavens. I have nothing but praise and pain for Exile. My Tears Richochet: I don't listen to this one much because I don't particularly enjoy inflicting pain on myself. A couple years ago, this was one of my favorites (I was going through a break up) and it is still a very good song. Mirrorball: I don't know where the onslaught of Mirrorball stanning came from but I respect it. I don't think it's one of her best. It was one of my least favorites when Folklore came out, but I do like (not love) it now. Seven: I don't know where I stand with Seven because when I actually listen to the song, I like it. But when I'm listening to music and it comes on, I think the beginning triggers my fight or flight response and I immediately skip it. Which is unfortunate because it's a cute story. There's just something about it that annoys me to my core. August: I will agree it is kind of a drag. But the payoff is with the bridge and outro. I have to WANT August, not just listen to it on the go. But when it hits, it hits. This Is Me Trying: Not one I come back to and it's never been one of my favorites. I hate the bridge. "They told me all of my cages were mental/so I got wasted like all my potential" is a standout line, though. Shoutout to all the mentally ill girlies. Illicit Affairs: I took a deep breath before writing this. To illustrate, I feel personally, not attacked, but victimized by this song. This had to be my most listened to song after my break up in 2020. Because of that, it is hard to go back to this song, but I'll never slander it. Invisible String: The sister to Long Story Short. I don't listen to her that much, but she's cute. Mad Woman: I don't understand why I've seen so much hate for this song. My appreciation for Mad Woman has never wavered. It's a song that makes me want to cry and I can't pinpoint exactly why, but I do have mommy issues. I really feel Taylor's emotion in this. Epiphany: I forget what this song sounds like. The lyrics are what makes me not totally skip it, though. I like it for a few themed playlists. Betty: Just a damn good song. What more do I have to say? Actually I will say that the live version is great and I don't believe the "writing from a male perspective" for a second. Peace: I have such a personal connection to it and many a cries in the shower with it that even though it's not one I really listen to anymore, Peace will always hold a special place in my heart. Also some of Taylor's best lyrics. A truly underrated song. Hoax: I actually don't hate this one. It's not even my least favorite on Folklore. I gained an appreciation for it and it's one that if you listen to the lyrics, you can get lost in. The Lakes: A good song with great lyricism. Unfortunately, I rarely listen to it. I am partly to blame for that because I can only associate it with Dead Poets Society after watching it and then an edit with the song that fits so perfectly, I only play it when I want to be sad about that movie. I didn't do Evermore because I don't have much to say other than the good ones are GREAT. Right Where You Left Me, Champagne Problems, and Tis the Damn Season are my top 3.
Very cool thoughts, but I can't imagine how the "male perspective" deniers can explain away the "James" part of the lyrics. I'm genuinely interested to know how you'd explain it, if you don't mind.
happiness will ever be mine forever...u cannot tell me the lyric "There is a glorious sunrise, dambled with the flickers of light, from the dress I wore at wore at midnight"
I never got into cowboy like me but you’re making me want to re-listen 😂 I’ve been binge watching your channel and I absolutely love your opinions. While I might not always agree, it’s cool to me that music is so subjective and there will always be someone that loves every song in her discography.
All in for the amount of legendary songs you put up there. It's amazing work, giving credit where it's due, love to see it ❤. I know I'm pretty alone in this, but I ride HARD for Willow. The 90s trend line is bad, but I forgive it because I just love how it sounds.
I am a simple person, I am not in to music, I enjoy the champagne problem, TGW, NBNC. The “simple songs” because I don’t think of as music but more like a story. They have a specific mood for me. However I also really enjoy songs like Cowboy like me and TIs’TDS, and evermore. For some reason on my list, I would shuffle 3 songs B/w on my list and so gorgeous. And I would have a perfect list. The remaining I would agree.
i could relate to champagne problems so so so much!!! even if a song is considered "overrated" that doesn't make it BAD! especially the metaphor of "shredding the tapestry" and the feelings of remorse and regret of ruining something that was perfect, never having anyone fully recovering is so prevalent in the song. every one of taylors songs has a deeper meaning
The ideal album: 1. The 1 🩶 2. Gold Rush 🧡 3. Ivy 🧡 4. Illicit Affairs 🩶 5. Right Where You Left Me 🧡 6. Tis the Damn Season 🧡 7. Tolerate It 🧡 8. Mirrorball 🩶 9. My Tears Ricochet 🩶 10. only two things i disagreed on was champagne problems and dorothea. first i wanna start out saying i am in no way as into like songwriting and production as im sure most of you are. for me i just listen to the song at face value and if i like it i like it and if i dont i dont. ok starting w champagne problems. i can understand how some ppl would think its boring but for me it js makes me feel alot of emotion for some reason. and then dorothea. when i first heard dorothea i lwk hated it… but then i kept hearing it when i listened to evermore and for me it kind of had this weird addicting element. like idk i js kept thinking abt it and once i started listening i couldnt stop. although im not gonna say i love that song. i think its a little boring and a little cheesy but good. i wouldve put it in on my list or great gown beautiful gown ofc no hate to u or anyone i love your vidss 🫶🫶
right where you left me and it’s time to go are masterpieces. the concept of each of them being different endings for the album, one about moving on and the other about staying stuck is actually insane.
yeah i love how they’re juxtaposed as bonus tracks
omg i’m OBSESSED with RWYLM
marry me
Cardigan sent me to another dimension the first time I heard it lol “Leaving like a father, running like water” literally gave me chills
That one line is literally one of my favorite lyrics of her’s ever, it is so stunning
I love Cardigan sonically, but I get what he's saying that it's lyrically all over the place.
One trillion percent
to be fair the back half of cardigan is legendary
“Peter losing Wendy” too
Edit: As well as “When you are young they assume you know nothing, but I knew you’d linger like a tattooed kiss. I knew you’d haunt all of my wordings. The smell of smoke would hang around this town. ‘Cause I knew everything when I was young.”
I could go on really lol
Sigh of relief for me that you really like the song Evermore. An unpopular choice, I know, but it's my favorite TS song. Absolutely moves me whenever I listen to it.
it’s definitely one of her best songs and the song going from this pain would be forevermore to this pain wouldn’t be forevermore is cathartic
Evermore is my all time favorite TS song. It’s perfect.. ❤
its sooo beautiful and poignant!
1000%
Though Exile is another top tier imo....listening to those 2 back to back is just 👩🍳🤌 Her voice& Justin's are so mf amazing each in their own rights, but together they're hauntingly beautiful.

But lots and lots of people love CLM. I love it as well.
Champagne problems is truly overrated af
Yessss 💜💜 it was a skip for me until I listened to it fully. Now it's one of my tops too!!
Yes, cowboy like me, my beloved song❤❤
I don’t really understand it unfortunately. Could anyone enlighten me?
tis the damn season should have been the lead single. it would have been perfect for the holiday season. it’s one of her best songs, the nostalgia that i feel with that guitar rift ❤️❤️❤️
TIS THE DAMN SZN APPRECIATION !!! it’s in her top 5 underrated songs for me , i love it sm yet i see noone talking abt it 🤨
Yeah! Tis the damm season should have been a proper Christmas song and I'm disappointed it wasn't that. It was the perfect Christmas song for Covid and yet.....
tis the damn season triggers me and my holiday spirit in the best and worst of ways
tis the damn season is like my sanctuary music now, i'm so addicted to it
I’m afraid that the august/champagne problems swifties aren’t gonna get what’s going to be given from this video
I actually only like august because it’s fun to sing to, so I just need it to exist idec if it’s a bonus track
@@mikeywebb9598 not saying it doesn’t deserve life I’m saying it’s overrated but I agree it’s amazing to sing to
@@Jamieswiftie13the way I constantly restart the song after the first line ugh it scratches my brain so much
@@Jamieswiftie13 I love both of those songs but I still appreciate the video. I just laughed wh we he called me simple lol
I do not understaaand the people who LOVE August! It’s one of my least favs 🥲
justice for no body no crime. it just gives me chills and it feels like listening to a fictional crime movie/book 😭also DOROTHEA?????? NO WAY 😭
I respect your opinions about happiness! But personally I like that song because it has a linear build in its instrumentation like a lot of speak now (which is fitting since happiness is the longest song on folkevemore), with almost a sort of ritual to get rid of bad feelings and demons (which is moreorless what the lyrics narrates about), also the line "now my eyes leak acid rain on the pillow where you used to lay your head" is such a taylor way of saying you cried yourself to sleep and I love it
evermore IS the superior bon iver duet, thank you for speaking the truth

I think, as a woman, mad woman hits different, hits hard and is iconic
when you mentioned that rwylm was a red song with a Midnights concept it really clicked for me that most of the songs on folklore are kinda "Midnights" songs.
I thought the same exact thing since I first heard it, and that's why it's one of my favorites off of FolkEvermore
Omg same! I love that film so much
“with those stupid cardigans that she made” killed me😂😂😂😂 5:16
I love the genre of writing taylor took on more on Evermore, there's more elegant and picturesque imagery. Like Ivy, Evermore, Cowboy like me, and happiness.
Add coney island, you got my Top 5 evermore songs! 🤎
Hoax is my favourite song off Folklore. It's pretty clear that it's about betrayal.
Justice for Mad Woman! I come to this song so much, especially when I’m having a bad day. I think this is her most mature “feminine rage” song and without it we may not even have Vigilante Shit!
I think this song hits different for women. Men just can't understand it the same way and that's why it's so low for the male Swifties in my life.
He's not a big stan of the man either and I have to say maybe it will seem silly but I resonate so deeply with the man and with mad woman, and I guess if there weren't that connection with the songs then they would be throw away songs to me 😂 vigilante shit however resonates AND is a bop. One of my faves
i LOVE it sm omg what did he do 😭😭😭😭 haven’t watched yet
I love Zach but I also can't wait for the day he admits that August is a top tier song
I thought august was such a pretty sounding and calming song until it got played to death on tiktok but still, I love the ‘humanising the other woman’ element in the song and that violin part towards the end is beautiful. Also, the first time i heard right where you left me and gold rush my jaw DROPPED, absolutely amazing imagery.
thank you zach for this iconic masterpiece of a video as always!! the premiere chat was so much fun! ❤ have a great week everyone!
thank you for watching!!
What you said about ivy... FAAAAAACTTS. Ivy is actually my #1 taylor song. Its so beautiful and imaginative, the vocal layers are amazing
Literally timeless masterpieces to me ❤️
same
LITERALLY!!!! Hoax HURTS. The lyricism is sheer poetry and although it is open and leaves unfinished stories, it shoots down the whole “this is me trying” mentality, because why would you try if they know your every move. You can only be mad, like I’m mad woman. It’s INSANELY good
I'm gonna say it, Cowboy like me is the best song here. Truly one of Taylor's best.
i actually like “no body, no crime”. the melody itself might not be that original but the lyrics are really interesting, giving us a murder mystery/true crime vibe, and it’s again another female rage song for me like mad woman. i feel like those songs are more relatable and empowering to women in general
It's a crime ivy didn't make it on the eras set list
i know this video is old but, cowboy like me is truly one of the best songs she has written. it is my second favorite song in her whole discography. the way i view it is a girl and guy (or whatever you want it to be) are at a wedding when he asks her to dance, she realises they are both players so she knows exactly what he wants because she is the same way. but then they end up falling in love and the line “never gonna love again” means she isn’t gonna love again because she believes she found her soulmate. but also the lyric “and i know i’ll pay for it” is saying she knows what his intentions could be but she truly fell for him. then later in the song when it says “and the skeletons in both our closets plotted hard to f this up - when you passed through town” is talking about how they maybe had a little falling apart when exes got brought up because they acknowledge their past and how they played people. but then it says “but that was all before i locked it down” saying their past is their past because she locked it down and knows he really is the one. anyway i know that was a long rant but that’s my interpretation 😭
I was really glad that "The Last great American Dynasty" went into iconic. On my first listen of the album this is the one I liked the most. Thought my choice was weird as everyone liked some other famous songs from the album. You really made me feel great 😊😭
Ivy and Illicit affairs definitely are my favourite songs from this era. Ivy might be her best song, ever.

Omgggg the Betty Draper connection to tolerate it is so eye opening, especially with the image of polishing plates! Being a Swiftie and Mad Men stan is never dull😂
i love watching you rearrange track lists, it's so fun and i love getting to see the album(s) in a totally different light
also it's great that you're setting a time for the premieres! i always miss them, but now that there's a schedule, maybe i won't have toooo
Thank you Abby!! Missed you in the live
the justice for gold rush, tis the damn season, ivy
...my whole evermore heart🧡🧡
Finally some one giving seven the recognition it deserves 😊
Dorothea gives me major Sara Bareilles Vibes. I think it’s so cute 🥰
Like it makes so much sense and you have included most of my favourite songs anyway so I acc love that sm
omgggg you addressing the masterpiece that is “cowboy like me” makes me emotional 🥹 it’s my favorite from the album 💖

I get what you mean with Champagne Problems, but that MELODY makes it so much better for! I just can’t get it out of my head sometimes lol
Loved right where you left me ( the imagery is so good), ivy (country throwback) and cowboy like me ever since I heard it. Still are my most revisited highlights of evermore too. Good ranking of hidden gems throughout folklore and evermore.
going into this i already know that dorothea is finding her way off the track list so i’m just gonna accept that and enjoy the video ❤️
yup yup yup
love dorothea so much but we just gotta move past it :’)
I love love love your ‘folkevermore’ album! It flows so well, tells a great story. 👏🏼
"time wonderous, time, gave me the blues and then purple pink skies" makes me tick every single time

what a fucking smash HIT ms. swift my goodness
So true
Absolutely loved the video as always! It’s mind boggling how similar our rankings are. I agree with all of your top tier songs, the only difference I would make to that tier is personally I would add this is me trying and long story short because those songs are very personal to me. But, I of course understand why they’re not there. Thank you for being an entertaining, funny, honest creator. This video made my day:)

21. evermore (the final reflection, and coming to terms with what’s she’s learned )
Bonus track: Betty
Thank God, you rated tolerate it highly. I was a little worried about that. It’s hands-down, the best song of those albums in my opinion.
The way you predicted the new folkmore/everlore set list
Some girlies don't understand Cowboy Like Me quite like we enlightened few, and I've had to learn unfortunately to accept that
The One is about Jake, I think.
THANK YOU for putting evermore in the iconic category!! this is my favourite taylor's song and i don't understand why people ignore this masterpiece
august, champagne problems, Daylight, and The Great War are for the simple people
I love cardigan too much!! I respect where you’ve placed her, but oh! It’s iconic to me ❤️

The way that zach loves right where you left me so much that he forgot about it's time to go 😭It's time to go is one of my favs on folklevermore but it is sort of forgettable
LOVED your ranking though you always create the most interesting and honest content about taylor and you are so articulate with your thoughts keep it up! ❤
Goes to show how forgettable It's Time To Go is 🤭
@@alexrose20 yeah as much as i love it it is still pretty forgettable especially considering how many people love right where you left me
13:04 I am so late to this video but I believe this now more than ever. except for the cardigan/Betty/August thing and one or two others. After the break up it started to feel more like these were things she was feeling, many about Joe but she didn’t want to let that be true yet.
the closure production and music is so bad but the lyrics and melody just hit so hard and deep i love it. but i totally understand people who don’t
The way I know you really know what you're talking about is how much you love Right Where You Left Me. I kinda accidently skipped RWYLM when it first came out, but something clicked in my brain later and I went "....this is one the best things she's ever written". Every time I hear that song my jaw hits the floor.
Closure was one of my faves because I so related to the lyrics and love the piano melody
I think people just like the bridge if champagne problems. She took us to bridge city with that song and we ate it up 😂
I don't always agree with your opinions but you always give a reason for them and it shows that there's thought behind every opinion of yours, which is respectable and admirable. THIS SAID, your opinions about evermore? I couldn't agree more with you 😩 The way I continuously gaslight myself into thinking that dorothea doesn't exist
I love your combined album! Definitely fire! 🔥
Right where you left me is such a track 5, thank you for fixing that
I’d be interested to hear if any of your opinions have changed after the visuals on the eras tour. Willow
, August and tolerate it come to mind for me. The visuals really brought out something different in the songs for me
Tolerate it has jumped up so much on my list after the Era's tour!!
love love love LOVE “the last great American dynasty”, “invisible string” and “mirrorball”… although I have to confess that august was my favorite when the album first came out 🤭
30:11 little did you know, she did die on the alter waiting for the proof
SO happy you stuck with the 1 as first! Can't wait to listen to this playlist :)
Besides Peace not being higher I can agree with your ranking for the most part. Hoax and August are good but not my favorite. I didn’t understand all of the hype from August but I still enjoy it!
love that you love invisible string! My favorite TS song!
I love your videos and I couldn’t help saving this one in my playlist to watch it later… still, I don’t think I’m strong enough o watch you put August in a “meh” category 🫣
The bridge is just divine and it hits the perfect sweet spot with being nostalgic enough but not overly cheesy.
LMAO thank you friend
Good list. I'm just mad about no body no crime, I absolutely love that song
But it's a Master piece .
as a stan of both champagne problems and tis the damn season, i highly DISAGREE, but i appreciate tis the damn season getting the flowers it deserves. honestly i don't think it would make sense to someone LOVE a song like august for example (like most of the fandom) but not enjoy tis the damn season bc i feel that these are songs where the more "lo-fi-ish" production helps you picture the scenario. i believe most of the appeal people get from august is not only because of the lore but also bc the instrumentation reminds you of summer time and salt air AND THE RUST ON THE DOOR. to me, tis the damn season its like the winter sister, the production just feels chilly and i LOVE the image they used on the lyric video because it clicks instantly.
as for champagne problems, i dont know if it's because english it's not my first language (i speak portuguese) but i just couldn't figure out what the song was about on my first listen because there was too many references (especially on the bridge) that i didn't get so i have a special attachment towards that song because everytime i watched people breaking down the lyrics i discovered something new.
u’re sooo right as someone who loves both august and ttds i don’t understand the lack of hype for the latter !!!
literally i could relate to champagne problems so so so much!!! even if a song is considered "overrated" that doesn't make it BAD! especially the metaphor of "shredding the tapestry" and the feelings of remorse and regret of ruining something perfect are tooooo relatable and it cuts deep.
So that song always touches me in a painful way even though I know that’s not even close to what the songs about.
chemtrails and blue banisters is folklore and evermore (lanas version)
August is wonderful a masterpiece of the pains of young love..and her emotive singing here is unmatched.
My longwinded thoughts on folklore
The 1: Folkore came at a time when I knew my relationship with an ex was crumbling, and this being the opener already had me feeling attacked.
I'm genuinely interested to know how you'd explain it, if you don't mind.
invisible string deserves more :,)
Tis the damn season was my fave the first time I heard evermore. It may not be the “best” or deepest song but I related to it so much
happiness will ever be mine forever...u cannot tell me the lyric "There is a glorious sunrise, dambled with the flickers of light, from the dress I wore at wore at midnight"
I never got into cowboy like me but you’re making me want to re-listen 😂
I’ve been binge watching your channel and I absolutely love your opinions. While I might not always agree, it’s cool to me that music is so subjective and there will always be someone that loves every song in her discography.
Omg, Tis The Damn Season is my fave out of all her albums. Keep being a real fan my queen…
THANK U ttds appreciation ❣️
The remaining I would agree.
i could relate to champagne problems so so so much!!! even if a song is considered "overrated" that doesn't make it BAD! especially the metaphor of "shredding the tapestry" and the feelings of remorse and regret of ruining something that was perfect, never having anyone fully recovering is so prevalent in the song. every one of taylors songs has a deeper meaning

only two things i disagreed on was champagne problems and dorothea. first i wanna start out saying i am in no way as into like songwriting and production as im sure most of you are. for me i just listen to the song at face value and if i like it i like it and if i dont i dont. ok starting w champagne problems. i can understand how some ppl would think its boring but for me it js makes me feel alot of emotion for some reason. and then dorothea. when i first heard dorothea i lwk hated it… but then i kept hearing it when i listened to evermore and for me it kind of had this weird addicting element. like idk i js kept thinking abt it and once i started listening i couldnt stop. although im not gonna say i love that song. i think its a little boring and a little cheesy but good. i wouldve put it in on my list or great gown beautiful gown
ofc no hate to u or anyone i love your vidss 🫶🫶
