Been using the Fujifilm 27 mm 2.8 since it came out and love this pancake lens. Even the Fuji one is decent priced. Been telling people for the longest time to not look past these pancake lenses! Nice video as well.
I found this lens has a nice look but it very much has a look. It’s really contrasty and saturated and vignette-y. BUT I like the way it renders. Sort of feels like an interesting combo of modern and vintage…like an instagram filter but good?
On mine I have a 58mm step ring and then another stepped down to 52mm and it makes a nice little pseudo hood and blocks all text on the front of the lens for a pretty clean look.
I’ve shot 40mm (ff) for years. If you REALLY want to see a pancake lens, check out the Pentax 40mm XS 2.8…it’s almost TOO small. I find the Fuji 27mm just right, it’s much bigger in comparison to the Pentax. I use the 27mm on an xp3 and it’s a fantastic pair!
I would love this lens if the firmware update mechanism actually worked. I've tried 4 computers and at least that many USB cables with no luck in getting the thing recognized as a storage device, using the video instructions the company released.
@michaelmcnally I’m not sure if you’re a Mac user, but other reviews have mentioned that so far the firmware update only works when connecting to a PCs. That’s disappointing because I don’t know anyone with a personal PC - otherwise I would get this lens in a heartbeat.
I had the same issue and eventually got it working. It was down to the USB cables I was using. I ended up using a cable that was compatible with fast charging for my phone.
@@LetsMakeGhosts Hi, I experienced the same. I used regular length USB cables that don’t work - I believe you need to use a short cable. BTW, I just upgraded the firmware to v1.1.1 (v1.02 in camera) and it does appear to make the camera a little more responsive.
@@itsr7studio I am a Mac user primarily but I tried only Windows machines, plus one Linux machine mostly as a test to see if I could get anything to work.
I've got the MF version of this primarily for street photography and zone focusing. I love it. Debated on MF vs AF and for now MF won, but at the price I'll probably end up with the AF version as well.
You're thinking in black & white. The majority of videos on this lens are so small compared to the minority of people who actually use it. That makes it underrated. Millions of people in America love root beer, but compared to the rest of the world who have never heard of it or because its unavailable, makes its underrated. Its all based on statistics.

I want to get a lens hood for this lens, the one it comes with isn’t good. I don’t know what size to get

My go to lens is the 35mmf2 one, but I would like a pancake one. Do you think I could switch without loosing quality ?
Nice review !
Great Review ! 👍Can you tell me what is that strap that you are using ?? Thank you!

Looking for a lens to put on my X-E1….. I would LOVE the new voigtlander 27mm but that will be around $500 and manual focus only
yes, expensive… but german dudes are known for building high quality lenses… and this one is a collaboration with Fujifilm…
Nooooo why are you doing this? Now the price will increase xD Great video
Little beast of a lens! The photos look great.
Definitely is man, super fun little lens! Thanks for checking it out
How is the size of this lens compared to the Fujifilm 27mm f2.8 WR? I the Fuji version "flatter", meaning shorter in length?
I don't have it in person to compare to. But from quickly measuring it I think the Fuji version is just slightly flatter!
It’s give or take the size of the 18mm f2. It’s definitely bigger than the Fuji 27mm but still small-ish
tried both, fuji is better (of curse is way expensive), the TT has a lot of caracter. Nice video
I might need to cop
Why price in Dollars?

Is there mf version?
@@houghwhite411 my bad. It's a 25/f2.
I got 27mm today and now my xe2 fits in my fannyfack very good😃 Can’t wait to shoot with it
💯💯💯

Haha much pancake talk. You should also check the x-e4 bro! The Fuji Carlo has. Smaller option
@@TKNORTH literally just started the deep dive on those
.... you lost me at pancakes.... mmmmmmm pancaaaakes..... 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Personally I'd take a used Fujifilm 27mm mk1 over this for not much more money, better optics, af, and build quality
I can understand that! Although prices I’ve seen are still much more expensive even for used ones here at the moment
@@TKNORTH exactly! I was able to find an original XF 27mm for 190 euros on Ebay but now it's at least 250 euros.
Mmm pancakes
Haha I really feel like pancakes
damn dude your photos.... damn dude your stache
Hahah 👨🏻 thanks for checking out the video 🙏
Is it really underrated if the majority of videos about this lens praise it?.

As soon as anyone calls a lens ‘fun’ what they actually mean is ‘terrible’
Calm down
😂 💯
That’s not true.
This video was fun.
Too much vignetting. Wait until June for the Cosina
Or save for the Fuji. Your quality is only as good as the glass in front of the sensor
What if I told you the lens is absolute garbage optically!
And your evidence for this assertion?
