- The EPIC Family Road Trip - SEASON 5•EPISODE 23 /// In this week’s episode of The Epic Family Road Trip, we continue on our backcountry journey form British Columbia back to our off-the-grid cabin in Ontario, Canada. We head out on the trail which turns out to be extremely muddy and surrounded by the remote B.C wilderness and snowy mountains before stopping to camp next to a raging river as a thunderstorm blows in through the mountain pass. The next day we head back out on the trail, deeper into the wilderness and higher into the mountains. A snow avalanche blocked our way and we had to decide whether to attempt to conquer the avalanche or turn around. In the end...we probably should have just turned around...stay tuned!!! Part 2 coming soon...

You guys are like the space family Robinson without the robot and Dr Smith.
Great video 👍 The Canadian Rockies are Mighty, Majestic, and to be respected! Watching your family working together to overcome obstacles forging ahead twords a common goal. To get everyone home safely! This pandemic has changed all our lives, changed all our plans. It's forced us to refocus on Faith and Family. Thanks for sharing your journey. Safe travels Perry
Awesome Avalanche Crossing!!!
And your drone footage is GREAT! And you kept it dry! 😎
Thanks. Yes so far so good with the drone. 👍🏻 Hope you and your family are well.
@@EFRT we are great! Thank you. Your videos keep getting better. We are leaning from your guys.
Thanks. Glad you are enjoying them. 👍🏻
Hey! That is my backyard. Awesome to see others making content showing it off 😁 Gotts love the Kootenays.
Such a beautiful place!!
I love your family trip, but the dog is the star of the video! :) Thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome, thanks for watching. 🐕❤️
Wow, just amazing scenery and awesome driving. Truly amazing to see a family adventure working together...
I have a light pair of easy to put on cable chains. AMAZING where you can go. You need some as they would have saved you a ton of trouble and worry. Ron Vaillant
Absolutely love the family determination to forge forward!
I just couldn't help myself from subscribing..love the content guys🧡🧡🧡
Thank you for subscribing, we appreciate it! Have a wonderful day. ❤️👍🏻
Picnic online lagi😊😍😎pemandangan yang indah🏞terima kasih untuk jalan"nya from indonesia.I wait next video🙏🙏🙏😇
with the Defender gone forever (the actual SUV they produce does not meet that standard) we have been left with just a few alternatives: a pickup truck, the Toyota troopy (unfortunately just an option for Aussies), the Mercedes G-Wagon (hopefully the military basic and not the high priced "luxury" coaches, or if lucky enough, still better: the original austrian Puch) and of course the good old Jeep... it is always a pleasure to see such cars getting coats of mud and dust, or snow and rain! marvelous!
hi i am from indonesia, i like your family life adventure

OMGosh. I'm on pins and needles. You guys are epic!
Every day I watch this. I have an adventurous dream like this. Warmest greetings from Indonesia
Warmest greetings from Toluca Mexico.
Great video. Watched it beginning to end! Keep up the great videos and hope to see you down the road.
Yes we’ll see you out there. Maybe at the Pelican in OR one day. 👍🏻
Another amazing adventure My god how beautiful Canada 🇨🇦 is The wife and I must take our Jeep up there. Really enjoying your journey going home.
Over there in the dirt, every Jeep have almost the same color! Great to see that you are having more Offroad fun without the trailer... greetings from The Netherlands. 🇳🇱❤️🇨🇦
Dang ,,, Cliff Hanger !! Ya'll come back now ya hear ! ~peace~
Exactly. -.-
Tire pressure is everything!
Cool video , thanks for sharing, Canada is beautiful
Beautiful God-given experience , amazingly lovely nature view. Thank you, God bless you all. Take care.
Beautiful country. Good to know about the Coniferous trees. Awesome elk sighting, good job Lando!
As always, the videography is awesome...getting over the avalanche snow was awesome and I think Lando had the right idea of kickin' back and watching. Looks like it's time for another set of trax. If anyone can handle this challenge, it's the Epic Family. !
It makes perfect sense why the second Jeep made it in one go, the snow had already been packed down by the first Jeep. Still very cool.
Thank you much guys for sharing all this Epic videos trips with us. It's amazing what you did to improve your Jeeps and ready to go any time anywhere!
Maybe one day I will do at least on of your trips, sometimes is not possible for everyone, different reasons.
Good luck, keep posting and stay safe!
A big thank you for taking us on your road trips, so much fun. love you all beautiful family
Since drome footage is a major portion of most videos , maybe drome insurance is a consideration?
Love that dog at one point dog is like aahh it's gonna take time I want to rest
Great video we do a lot of snow you guys are doing great . Beadlocks and lower air pressure is the only way to go in snow. Can’t wait for the next one.
There is no better name for your channel. Your adventures are definitely Epic. I'm inspired every time I watch.
Thanks for watching. 🙏🏻
good looking 👀🌨🦌👨👦👦👩👧😍🇺🇸👍
Great content but oh my that winching anchor on the tree. *Cringe*
It`s good to see the whole family enjoying the trip.
Yup , spring snow , it's like mushy grease ha
Can you adopt me😀love the place❤️Enjoy guys😎
Thank you for sharing those beatiful moments with us! Also that video footage from the mini looks really good, glad you saved some money!
Happy family adventure, keep safe,hi Caroline
having done thousands of miles on snow passes ,wheres the snow chains? so easy to fit ,can chain up in 20-minits good chains with gripers n flexy ties so easy
Amazing scenery and awesome driving. I am looking forward to the next episode.
Looks like Lando was trying to make his own kessel run in under 12 parsecs🤣
Always competing with Han
Wont work to well for you guys, but I have an extra cab with a 7ft tray and a canvas canopy here in Australia. If I'm by myself I'll girth hitch some paramatta rope on the front end of the maxys and tie it off under the tray. Saves me digging them back up or walking back to get them. They bounce nicely off the canvas when they fly back under load, don't recommend it if you have a glass rear window though.
Nice. We’ll keep the lanyards on them next time. Have a great day!
BC is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, period, It takes no backseat to any other place on earth, and this coming from a guy born in Montreal, who’s live on a few Continents over the last 40 years, and currently lives in the South West (Arizona).
We agree with you on that. 👍🏻🇨🇦
It really blows my mind how many people are brainwashed into thinking that Patagonias are these God sent tires.
They're budget bin tires, mediocre at best. Lucky if you get 20k out of them if you rotate every 3000 miles.
We are pretty happy with them so far 👍🏻
What kind of duster coat is your son wearing? Been looking for one myself.
It’s made by “Stackman” 👍🏻
I own a 05 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon that's has lots of upgrades a real head turner lots of complements, my basic factory weight 3900 curve weight gross is 4600 now my lj weighs 5800 before any gear so what is your weight on your build are you over gross or under now you run two jeeps I build lj for overlanding and I plan to pull a off road trailer and transfer some of my gear to my off road trailer but I am concern about my weight
Depending on what gear we are carrying, we sometimes pull our CVT trailer to disperse the weight. 👍🏻
It’s so depressing watching all the news and what currently happening in this world right now....Every time I watch your shows, it fulfilled my soul.
Loved the video and how you crossed over the avalanche, but check into the winch equipment that protects the winch line (tree saver). Best not to wrap around the log, could damage line for future use. Again great video and I have been watching you guys for a long time. Keep it up!
wow I would have love to have been on that trip, way to much fun
Absolutely fantastic trip! Stunning environment!!
You are so blessed to be able to do these trips as a family!
Keep the videos coming please! :-)
Thanks. Will do 👍🏻
Wonderful Family Trips on extremely scenic & beautiful locations, One can only dream of ! So happy to see you all enjoying each & every moment of Life ! Even, simply by watching your Videos, I enjoyed them a lot ! keep it up ! All The Best ! God Bless You All !
Thank you. Glad you enjoy our videos. Have a wonderful day.
kalian keluarga keren banget
Should bring chain for the tires that help more.
Send out the drone again !
That looks like an awesome adventure ... and I'm talking, getting over THAT obstacle. Lots of work ... but kind of what this wheeling /Overlanding thing is all about.
How is the mini drone working out for you? I lost my DJI magic air and trying to decide if the mini can get the job done. Looks like it was working for you, but would love to hear your thoughts.
So far we are quite impressed with it. It doesn’t have all the same features as the Mavic pro but for what we are doing it seems to be sufficient. We will probably buy a spare battery or two though.
A roll of construction fabric won't push into the snow & bc it has string in the fabric for strength it will hve enough grip for the tires. To strips rolled out then roll it back up. There is a ton of new tech for snow quick add on's from swedish group area.
Some great tips. Thanks 👍🏻
I also want to do this in my future with my family💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Gorgeous countryside , and amazing footage ! I’ve been wondering When you guys were gonna get into a survival situation with all that you do. Does anyone have Wilderness 1stAid certification ? Nature can be unforgiving when you are remote. Stay safe and think twice before you act. 🙏🌲🇨🇦❤️
You’re right. Nature can be very unforgiving. We always try to be prepared for the worst and we have a Garmin and a SPOT satellite communicator just in case.
Great fun . Years from now you will look back and say , remember when we drove over that avalanche on that really snowy track , that kind of adventure over landing is what makes for great fire Side tails . Cheers and looking forward to the next adventure video from you all . Be safe , have fun , enjoy family time that your sharing now . Thanks for sharing ...from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A.
Yes, great memories for sure. Thanks for watching and have a wonderful day. 👍🏻
My dog loves to lead the way out in the sticks as well. Seeing lando do it put a smile on my face!
That avalanche was something else! Looking forward to the next episode!
Wow that’s all I Gotta say guys is wow 😮 😝😝😝😂😂😂🤠🤠ok 👌🏼Camping Russ out 🔥🤠🔥
my sri lankan wasagamuwa safari
awesome, the cars and the video
🔥💚
Living in SK, I love the mountains but still am fond of the Prairies!
Not many people can put crossing an avalanche on the resume! Well done.
Thanks. Yes, I think it’s the variety of topography that makes the country so interesting. 👍🏻
Only avalanche I ever knew was the Chevy avalanche. 😆. Now I know what it actually is. love BC Love ON. From TO.
👍🏻🇨🇦
Bismillahir rohmanir rohim. Jeep haqiqiy erkaklar mashinasi. Mening orzuyim. Nasib qilsa xudo xohlasa men ham albatta olaman.
What is that electronic screen controller near your air vent in the jl?
Made by SPod. 👍🏻
What an epic adventure! Loved the idea of having a pace dog...too cool.
Lot's of Love from India 💛
That's what it's all about! Great video.
You think snow socks or snow chains might of help or with the off road tyres no difference?
Yes, I’m pretty sure chains would have helped out for sure. 👍🏻
Seems like you guys haven't disabled the traction control with the JL. The JK you have to keep the button in for 8 secs in order to disable it if you're in 4H. In 4L it disables automatically of course. I'm not sure if the JL works the same.
Good tip. Thanks 👍🏻
@@EFRT I learnt the hard way when I tried to dune charge in Mozambique with my JK Rubicon back in 2015. I just could not understand why less capable 4x4's made it up the dune and I could not. I almost auctioned my Rubicon off on the spot the way I was so disappointed. Then during another attempt I came to realise that my wheels are not spinning and that the engine is getting held back on the rpm's. Then it dawned on me that despite pushing the TC button, it never really disabled it and that it might work the same as a road car where you have to keep the button in (about 8 secs) until the dash lights up with ESCOFF and not just the symbol. After that, I was really having a ball of a time on the dunes. So, I guess you'll need the same in snow. There is of course a thin line between making progress or digging yourself in with excessive wheelspin but of course you decide on that in the moment.
You guys have an awesome channel. I'm planning a similar world trip with 2 JK's starting in S.A.
Are those Deciduous conifer trees known as Larch trees as well?
Yes.
Yes these were Larch 🌲 👍🏻
Love your videos guys. But FYI that mounting of your winch to the tree is scary. Get a tree saver, cheaper and much safer
Bigfoot territory
Your pooch is having way too much fun! 😅 What drone did you use to shoot this? That's pretty good quality for $500!
For this we used the Mavic mini. It does a pretty good job 👍🏻
If u don't hve construction fabric or silt fence, u can take a rope & tie in a strike every foot or so along the rope, to get grip. 2 ropes & u can tie both ends of sticks & make a ladder.
What an episode! Whoever filmed the jeeps going through the mud must have gotten soaked and dirty! Good job!
Carol and Caroline. You’re right, they were pretty muddy. 😀
A very beautiful place. And you guys are also very good.
Thank you.
Sangat luarbiasa pemandangan di negrimu bung.itulah sebabnya saya subscribe chanelmu krn saya suka sekali n sangat menikmati petualangan kalian.bahkan seolah2 saya ikut mrasakannya juga.salam dari indonesia.I LOVE YOU ALL
Hi from Russia! Thanx for video - its very intresting! Gonna buy a Rubicon next year, althought the price of Wrangler in Russia in 2x more than in US )
Watching you winch without a dampener gives me anxiety - if anything gives way, that hook could kill someone. 😬 Do love your videos though!! ❤️
If it was a steel cable that might be a risk. Looks like a synthetic line, not really any need for dampener.
Yes, we use synthetic lines. Sometimes On very difficult pulls we’ll use a dampener just for extra safety.
Digging that arborist talk! Coniferous deciduous tongue twisterous.
KEREN SEKALI👍💟🤔🙏🙏🇲🇨🇲🇨
Not enough Caroline
The last couple of videos have been ... EPIC!!!
Thanks 😊
Anyone knows what kind/brand the boots next to the firepit at 10:14 ?
5.11 Apex boots. 👍🏼
German Beer 👍🏻 Viseted BC last Summer, was so awesome, one of the best places on earth with that stunning nature and lakes
Thank-you !!! We love our beautiful British Columbia... I like how you tell what time of the year it is most people don’t do that on their videos ... bravo
I’m from BC. Avalanches are a part of my life every spring. While it makes for an interesting video, I would never cross over an avalanche- even if that one was the same depth as the winter snow roads.
Probably a lot of wisdom based on experience and local knowledge in your words. 👍🏻 BC is so wild and beautiful. 🇨🇦
Epic Family Road Trip. Yes, BC is beautiful and thank you for your video which portrays some the scenery from the Kootenays and your awesome adventure. Looking forward to experiencing more of your adventures.
BAD idea to take Jeep for long trip, they are NOT reliable at all
We’ve had no problems. 👍🏻
Btw where do you wash your chlotes, where do you bath..etc?/
Here’s a video that explains that. 👍🏻

Awesome video guys,as usual. Thank you so much for sharing.
What a place to end the video..Now I have to look at the next video..lol..Stay Safe
The Trees that drop their needles are most likely Tamarack
