John Lewis for me if only for the pea's, although I prefer mushy peas. The only criticism I have is I prefer everything on the plate! I'm not a fan of food in small bowls or chip baskets etc. But that's just me.
Obviously can’t comment on the taste, but the Sainsbury’s one looked like a frozen fish and chips ready-meal. The John Lewis one looked superb, I’m sure it was delicious, and the matching tea set was an added bonus. Excellent video!
Yes, the Sainsbury's fish looked like something you would buy frozen. John Lewis won this before you tasted anything!😄 Thank you - I love your videos👍🏾
The John Lewis fish was smiling at me through the screen - it looked spectacular and I was really drooling! The chips looked great too - better than Sainsbury's by miles!
The sainsbury's fish had a look of frozen fish, the skin on the chips, not a good thing, and garden peas over mushy peas was wrong, the John Lewis version was the absolute winner for me,cheers for another quality food review.
Definitely John Lewis looked yummiest. Glad you tried out my tip with salt and vinegar😊🥰 Id love to see you trying out other takeaways... or even a mixed grill... because around us (Fareham) we cant find a pub that does it anymore?! Mind you, I cant have gluten so that resticts places we can eat out. So i really do live foods through you ❤
Excellent review. As soon as I saw Sainsbury's fish and chips I was disappointed straightaway. The peas looked like they had dried out and the fish looked like one you would buy from the supermarket and the chips were disappointing as well. On looks I would give it a 4 out of 10. The only good thing about it was the price but looking at what you got it was a waste of money. Onto the John Lewis serving, as soon as I saw it i could see the difference straightaway. It was well presented and one of the main things was it was well presented. Obviously the other main thing being the taste which i think it passed. 10 out of 10. It was also a good price. John Lewis wins hands down for me. It was funny when you were getting the water for your tea. That would happen to me
Both seem a bit mean with their chips, however the John Lewis meal looks way better. Sainsbury's fish looks like it came out of a box. Thanks for another cracking and useful review.
I had a British boyfriend who cooked the most delicious fish-n-chips. And Mom cooked the best "Bacalao a la Vizcaina" for Christmas. Miss them both. Love your videos, BTW!
Sainsbury’s 100% FROZEN!! For what you get and pay, it’s absolutely disgusting 🤷♂️ I know they’re all pretty much the same but the John Lewis edged it imo.
Of course they're both frozen, anyone that thinks it's fresh fish is off their rocker. 90% of chip shops too use frozen unless they're on the coast. Nothing wrong with that at all, I'd say the second one looked a tad under fried looking at the meat.
Ok this is my verdict. I would 100% agree with John Lewis. It has the moisture from the mushy peas and to ur likings tarta sauce. The batter looks oily and looked a lot crispier and looks fantastic, the fish is stunning by looks it’s very flaky and thankfully isn’t polout which is another type of fish. The chips there was nice and chunky and great for dipping the sauces in. The Sainsbury’s however did look nice and the beer battered fish looks good but apart from that it’s kinda school dinner ish from the garden peas and chips what I saw at my school. John Lewis hands down!
most foods sold in the supermarket cafes do come off the shelves. Morrisons do the same while you watch the cheapest chips from the savers range go to the kitchens and be sold for over a £1 a portion. you easy see huge profits.
John Lewis all the way! Everything looked superior. I've got a cake voucher for their cafe, you could've used it for dessert! Sainsbury's looked awful! Those peas looked like marrowfat processed not garden peas at all. The chips looked straight out of a frozen ovenchip bag, and the fish looked breaded not beer battered. Mind you I've just had a cornbeef sandwich and mug of tea so feeling jealous. 😅 Also I love how you show all these swish shopping centres up North. The way the news reports you'd think there was nothing. 😊
I'm the same, i had a lemon curd one as I'm not too well and couldn't be bothered but if someone put the John Lewis one in front of me i think i could have managed to eat it
The John Lewis meal looked fab, much better than Sainsbury's but I guess you have to take into account the price difference? I'll stick with Morrisons for my supermarket fish and chips; it's much nicer than the Sainsbury's one. 😎
The Sainsbury's in my area have recently added Harry Ramsden and Eds Diner to their section. Not been there but I'm guessing its still going to be the froze stuff you get from Iceland and not a proper Harry Ramsdens fish and chips.
Definitely John Lewis. But that hot water situation was ridiculous, guarantee everyone gets confused with the joke tap being miles away from the touch screen
you have to take cost into the equation the Salisbury's one was supper cheap. But fish looked gray to me in both. I go to 2 chippies one is down south and the other is the south west and the prices are different both are cheaper that the Johns Lewis. I'm odd though i dont have vinegar with my fish and chips as it makes everything soggy! I might dip the odd chip in a bit of ketchup!
The John Lewis F&C looked like I get fresh cooked from my local chippy, the Sainsbury's like a breaded F&C from any freezer cabinet. One question, aren't you comparing salt with salt and vinegar with vinegar?
Frozen peas were displaying signs of Freezer Burn & to be honest, by the way the light was it has also happened to the fish. I am disappointed with Sainsbury’s, the fish was frozen & the batter looked flat & bored, there seems to have been no flakes of flesh when we looked inside. Chips looked raw in places. In all there was no competition - John Lewis. The brew you had in Sainsbury’s looked stronger than previous brews you have had. I hate insipid tea - builders strength for me every time. Looking fwd to next vlog. Thank you for posting this.
The skin on the chips was far from traditional, and the peas did look manky. John Lewis looked spot on; they were a little bit tight with their chips, and it was expensive but by far the better meal 👍
The Sainsbury's fish and chips looked a bit sad. Those peas looked a bit grim to me and the fish batter was poor by the looks of it. The John Lewis chips appeared to have been double cooked and the fresh tartare sauce was a plus. The fish looked really good. I know it was much more expensive but it looked a lot better.
If this guy think those fishes or the chips are anything but frozen ! He’s nuts ! It’s just fried frozen food! That’s all, nothing more and nothing less !
the sainsbury’s one looked very disappointing but I wouldn’t go to a store for fish and chips given that every pub does them and probably a lot better ❤ 🏴
The other thing I should have added was that the Sainsbury's fish looked like it could have been the same as one they actually sell in the store either in the fresh or frozen departments :-)
From the thumbnail alone I could tell John Lewis was far superior. That said I will never get on board with chips served in a pot. It may look better presentationally but it means you get less, plus the first thing I do is dump them on the plate anyway.
the John Lewis fish did look better, but all the pots with thing in more items to wash and with a £14 price tag. vs £8,10 just does not seem a fair vs challenge. still not sure if you are getting more chips since in the pot. and not sure it compares to buying fish and chips at a takeaway for value and portion size. may be that would be a better review a supermarket vs a real fish and chip shop but try to match the price and then see which gives better value. may be do review on the scampi or a roast dinner since so many fish and chips getting reviewed.
How can someone get to your age and not know to put vinegar on before salt. And then make how like it’s a game changer like some kind of newly discovered tip 🤣
I didn't like the look of either but JL @ £14 and dishing out crushed garden peas taking the Mick. £14 will buy you the real deal at the seaside and you get better views 🤣
Do yourself a favour next time, just go to a local chippy! Especially as your in Yorkshire 😂 ffs going to a supermarket and a department store for a local staple 😂
I don't think you have any taste. The peas are dry, the fish look like its frozen so is not fresh its definitely not fresh. The JL one looks the business but is not. Chips, peas and sauce served in little stainless steel buckets and that fish was frozen not fresh. The batter wasn't cooked you could see it wasn't crisp when you cut into it. All in all you had frozen fish from both shops and thought it was fresh!!! Sainsburys was the winner because it cost significantly less and you got what you paid for.
2:28 - Nope, this is incorrect and I don't know why everyone is acting like sheep and doing this. Salt first, then it gets to all the chips, and the vinegar dissolves and spreads it easily.
Which fish & chips did you prefer?
Comment below 😀
Sainsbury's
Pie and mash 😅
Definitely John Lewis. 🥰
John Lewis for me
John Lewis for me if only for the pea's, although I prefer mushy peas.

Thanks 😀 the John Lewis one was delicious all round
They're both frozen.
@Everyday I’m Eating All your videos are great and we enjoy watching them all.
Tea pot was a nice touch.
Yes, the Sainsbury's fish looked like something you would buy frozen. John Lewis won this before you tasted anything!😄 Thank you - I love your videos👍🏾
Thanks 😀 John Lewis looked better for sure and it tasted better too. The batter was so crispy 😋
Looked more like Hake
What a great review...you have a great voice for presenting, mate.
Thanks 😀
Good review! John Lewis was clearly the winner but to be fair it wasn't just "a little bit more expensive", it was a lot more expensive.
It was, maybe why the fish and chips were a lot better
The John Lewis fish was smiling at me through the screen - it looked spectacular and I was really drooling! The chips looked great too - better than Sainsbury's by miles!
The sainsbury's fish had a look of frozen fish, the skin on the chips, not a good thing, and garden peas over mushy peas was wrong, the John Lewis version was the absolute winner for me,cheers for another quality food review.

The salt and vinegar trick is a really good tip
Excellent review. As soon as I saw Sainsbury's fish and chips I was disappointed straightaway. Haha the hot water tap was a bit confusing, the John Lewis one did look and taste better!
Great video. It's a sign of the times that a store café fish and chips meal cots £14 plus. The John Lewis meal looked to be worth every penny
It really was
Both seem a bit mean with their chips, however the John Lewis meal looks way better. Sainsbury's fish looks like it came out of a box. Thanks for another cracking and useful review.
Thanks 😀 I would definitely have the John Lewis one again
I had a British boyfriend who cooked the most delicious fish-n-chips. And Mom cooked the best "Bacalao a la Vizcaina" for Christmas. Miss them both. Love your videos, BTW!
Great commentary keep this going great channel
Thanks 😀 will do!
Loving the combo bites! I tend to combo 2 items but to combo everything in one is wild 🤣👍 will have to give it a go!
You need to combo everything lol
Loving this channel.
Thanks 😀
sainsburys looks frozen
I was expecting a batter like at John Lewis and not the breaded kind they had
They're all frozen.
Sainsbury’s 100% FROZEN!! For what you get and pay, it’s absolutely disgusting 🤷♂️
I know they’re all pretty much the same but the John Lewis edged it imo.
John Lewis also froze ! 100%

The batter was so much better at John Lewis 😋
I'm always happy to pay a bit more for quality so that John Lewis one looked spot on!!
It was worth paying the extra price for sure
Has to be John Lewis....Great presentation and looked very tasty.
I agree, it looked good, and tasted good too
Ohhhh I can’t decide mate!!
It has to be John Lewis!
A very good Monday morning to you sir from Wellington Somerset
Good afternoon to you 😀
The Sainsbury's fish and chips one looked like something they grabbed off the frozen isle and stuck it in a fryer
most foods sold in the supermarket cafes do come off the shelves. Morrisons do the same while you watch the cheapest chips from the savers range go to the kitchens and be sold for over a £1 a portion. you easy see huge profits.
Great video and the John Lewis looked yummy 😊
Thanks 😀 It was definitely yummy!
John lewis.. you should try the skyliner in east leeds.. not far away from oceans
I already have 😀 Its great!
The Sainsburys fish is without doubt their TTD beer battered cod. I’ve had it home loads of times.
I'm Looking Forward to try this Fish & Chips.
Sainsburys peas look dried out, when you said you cant get them wrong ?!
There are some nice places up north 😀
Morrissons and Woodrow's
The John Lewis meal looked fab, much better than Sainsbury's but I guess you have to take into account the price difference? I'll stick with Morrisons for my supermarket fish and chips; it's much nicer than the Sainsbury's one. 😎
Yes, I think Morrisons have the best supermarket fish and chips!
The Sainsbury's in my area have recently added Harry Ramsden and Eds Diner to their section. Not been there but I'm guessing its still going to be the froze stuff you get from Iceland and not a proper Harry Ramsdens fish and chips.
You need to try it and find out
The John Lewis chips are Aunt Bessies battered chips. Can tell those anywhere :D
They tasted great 😀
John Lewis version looks awesome
It tasted a bit better too 😋
Garden peas are my pea of choice mushy ones don’t agree with me😮
Definitely John Lewis. But that hot water situation was ridiculous, guarantee everyone gets confused with the joke tap being miles away from the touch screen
I know! Its a bit confusing for sure
you have to take cost into the equation the Salisbury's one was supper cheap. But fish looked gray to me in both. 😮 Salt and vinegar is a must lol
The John Lewis F&C looked like I get fresh cooked from my local chippy, the Sainsbury's like a breaded F&C from any freezer cabinet. One question, aren't you comparing salt with salt and vinegar with vinegar?
Just a tip, don't put the lemon on the batter, cut open the fish and put the lemon on the white fish inside. Beautiful 💕
Ooooh thats a good idea. I might try that next time
Frozen peas were displaying signs of Freezer Burn & to be honest, by the way the light was it has also happened to the fish.

Thank you for posting this.
Good review
That breakfast for £5.25,is an excellent price.
Its a good deal! I had it in a previous video 😀
J.Lewis all the way, as they say "you get what you pay for" and their meal looked so much better.
It was a great meal! I would definitely have it again
so what was the best out of all the supermarkets????
So far I think Morrisons. What do you think?
@@everydayimeating3407 price wise and looks, i agree, can't say ive tried any of them though
The Sainsbury's fish looked like it was prepared off site. Could of been a winner with more thought behind it.
If the batter was better at Sainsbury's it would have made it more of a competition
iv never eaten at john lewis but that realy dose look so nice
Its well worth a try
The skin on the chips was far from traditional, and the peas did look manky. John Lewis looked spot on; they were a little bit tight with their chips, and it was expensive but by far the better meal 👍
I’ve got to tell you , it’s John Lewis all the way for me hands down.
Me too, it looked and tasted better for sure
Tartare sauce is for the fish. Why waste it on chips? And salt and vinegar + lemon?
John Lewis wins it for me. Although the price is crazy, it looked good and appetising, unlike how shallow Sainsbury's looked.
It was more expensive but then again it did taste better and had a better environment to eat it in
The John Lewis looked amazing and cooked to perfection and they made up for your brekkie last time dissatisfaction
They definitely made up for the breakfast from before
The Sainsbury's fish and chips looked a bit sad. Those peas looked a bit grim to me and the fish batter was poor by the looks of it. The John Lewis chips appeared to have been double cooked and the fresh tartare sauce was a plus. The fish looked really good. I know it was much more expensive but it looked a lot better.
I agree, it just seemed better quality overall
John lewis fish and chips look like the real deal
It could give some chippies a run for their money
Expected better from Sainsbury’s, looked pretty bad. John Lewis the clear winner. Might have to try it.
I was expecting something better from Sainsbury's too, especially when you compare them to the other supermarkets
I dont understand the upside down fork eating
If this guy think those fishes or the chips are anything but frozen ! He’s nuts !
It’s just fried frozen food! That’s all, nothing more and nothing less !
the sainsbury’s one looked very disappointing but I wouldn’t go to a store for fish and chips given that every pub does them and probably a lot better ❤ 🏴
Yeah John Lewis all the way no doubt. I can’t afford to eat out and have two children. So the extra price (nearly double) scares me 😂
The other thing I should have added was that the Sainsbury's fish looked like it could have been the same as one they actually sell in the store either in the fresh or frozen departments :-)
From the thumbnail alone I could tell John Lewis was far superior. That said I will never get on board with chips served in a pot. It may look better presentationally but it means you get less, plus the first thing I do is dump them on the plate anyway.
John Lewis for me 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🦘🌻🦘
Me too!
Pal, 95% of these chips will be made by Mccains factories around the UK.
No contest there
John Lewis
the sainburys fish looked like it came out of a frozen box
Sainsbury's looked like frozen fish..I wouldn't eat it. Oh the John Lewis dinner looked the business..
It tasted the business too 😋
Sainsbury's is hardly upmarket unlike waitrose and m&s. John Lewis for me as Sainsburys was frozen meal!!
Please put the prices in the title. You will get more views.
is it cod or is it coaly, we will never know
They were both cod
John Lewis one looked 100 times better.
It tasted better too 😋
john lewis definitely
I agree! 😀
b4 i even watch I'm saying j Lewis by the pic on my phone ya don't have garden peas with fish n chips
You'll be surprised by the peas at John Lewis
I prefer Morrisons for £7.00
the John Lewis fish did look better, but all the pots with thing in more items to wash and with a £14 price tag. vs £8,10 just does not seem a fair vs challenge. still not sure if you are getting more chips since in the pot. and not sure it compares to buying fish and chips at a takeaway for value and portion size.
may be that would be a better review a supermarket vs a real fish and chip shop but try to match the price and then see which gives better value.
may be do review on the scampi or a roast dinner since so many fish and chips getting reviewed.
The John Lewis Fish & chips looks much better.
It was!
How can someone get to your age and not know to put vinegar on before salt. And then make how like it’s a game changer like some kind of newly discovered tip 🤣
John lewis yum🎉
It really was! It tasted great
I didn't like the look of either but JL @ £14 and dishing out crushed garden peas taking the Mick.
£14 will buy you the real deal at the seaside and you get better views 🤣
JL
John lewis is the best sainsburys looked frozen and not as nice
I was expecting a bit more from Sainsbury's but John Lewis definitely took it for me
Do you eat all this food in one day £££%
not on this occasions, but sometimes yes
Everyone is tight with chips these days, the JL ones better and the fish looked better at JL as well.
The fish was definitely better at John Lewis on this one
John Lewis are obviously better, but you can get far better from your local chippy for a fraction of the price.
Can you try things like pie and mash or bangers and mash or other interesting dishes. Fish and chips and breakfasts are over done by UA-camrs
I will be very soon 😀
@@everydayimeating3407 Thanks, I really enjoy your reviews 👍
John lewis won this one by a mile
Looked lovely sainsbury 😮look a bit pathetic
Best wishes
John Lewis for sure
John Lewis looks better
It tasted better too 😀
Do yourself a favour next time, just go to a local chippy! Especially as your in Yorkshire 😂 ffs going to a supermarket and a department store for a local staple 😂
The chips at Sainsburys look dry as a bone. As for the fish, it looks like an enlarged fish finger.
The batter did remind me of an upgraded fish finger batter rather than a fish and chip batter
Frozen food a t Saintsbury
sainsburys 5 jl 9
Hands down JL ..the other one looked sad dry and cheap
sainsburys definitely looked frozen
I don't think you have any taste. The peas are dry, the fish look like its frozen so is not fresh its definitely not fresh. The JL one looks the business but is not. Chips, peas and sauce served in little stainless steel buckets and that fish was frozen not fresh. The batter wasn't cooked you could see it wasn't crisp when you cut into it. All in all you had frozen fish from both shops and thought it was fresh!!! Sainsburys was the winner because it cost significantly less and you got what you paid for.
looks dreadful, peas look dry and chips look as if they have given up
Sainsbury...yuk.
I totally agree and I shop at Sainsbury’s
2:28 - Nope, this is incorrect and I don't know why everyone is acting like sheep and doing this. Salt first, then it gets to all the chips, and the vinegar dissolves and spreads it easily.
This looks horrible
