Awesome interview! Here is a couple links to the Steve Krass tribute show at St. Andrew’s Hall in Detroit 1996, which was Mike’s first show with CAL. I played in several local Detroit bands around this time and I actually had the honor to play guitar on this show with Mike, Jeff and Roy and did a few shows with CAL after this as they were going through line up changes. What an amazing memory and honor to play with these guys ! Great to see Mike doing so well 🙏

I saw Sworn Enemy with Meshuggah, Shadows Fall and Cradle Of Filth at Ozzfest 2003 at Floatrite Park in Somerset Wisconsin just outside of St. Paul, MN. Lost a shoe in the Sworn Enemy pit (which was completely bananas btw) and some jackasses kept throwing it at the stage. At one point someone chucked it at Dani almost clocking him in the face but he caught it and threw it back at the person yelling at them for throwing crap at the stage. I wonder if Mike remembers any shoe throwing activity from Ozzfest 2003. Never did get my shoe back. Lmao! 😂

I'm looking forward to watching this later. Mikey was just a kid when I met him. he was in a band called placenta back then and he wasn't old enough to be in the clubs. one of my friends, she had long red (dye) hair and knew him. she adored that kid, and I can't wait to send her this link

I can't believe you called my raspberry hair red 😂 pre mohawk of course. Mikie used to be so shy. I love that he kept coming back to Detroit touring with the greatest bands in history. The best thing about him is the way he tells the story about how his mom and dad met. (Pod Scum, save that question for next time 🙂) Or at least the way he told it to me as a very young man. He was always very expressive. Since he started so young, I used to say that the Detroit music scene raised him from a pup. Punks, metalheads, and hardcore, everyone here loves him. ❤

I have tons of history with Mike. Most I wouldn't tell you because he's on a better path. Let's just say we partied. After his father Gregory was needlessly murdered, he moved in with his mother in another city, was sent to a different school which was at the edge of my neighborhood. He would walk to my house 2.5 blocks and spend his days at my house. I had drums and amps and what not so we would jam n shit. Many of the riffs from placenta songs were actually written in my bedroom. We did a lot together and this guy influenced me a lot we're not talking some brief hangouts. This cat ate food my mom bought for the family, which makes Mr. Couls FAMILY. So proud of him and now a subscriber of this channel

@@shammerhead666hahaha at least I remembered the band name right. let's not talk about how long ago that was. hey podscum, do your hashtags. it helps with the algorithm. tag Mike's name, nyhc, and the bands he talked about in your description. it makes a huge difference, I promise.
