3 Best Headphones Under $100 - Наука та технологія
Just earned yourself a sub! Somebody who is clearly knowledgable who explains audio concepts on even budget headphones super well, thank you!
The M40x´s were my first pair of actually good headphones and they made me fall in love with flat sound even tho I felt "dissapointed" in my first use because I did not know what to expect, I was used to V sound
the polished version of Zeos. HAH! dude you're surely gonna blow up. some of the best headphone reviews ive seen.
The coherent, concise, and actually informative version of Zeos.
@@tacanacy Zeos is informative, he drunk rambles, but he is pretty trustworthy and he let's you listen to know how it might feel to use them...
@@radiofloyd2359 true but sometimes i just dont have time to listen a 20 minutes headphone review
@@adrianhartanto5755 Depending on your own headphones, even just one minute of listening to the sound demo, can help a lot.
zeos is still better as an audio professional though, he knows what he's talking about more than this youtuber in my opinion at least mostly because he's tried a hundred times as much headphones and other kinds of audio equipment as this guy and he enjoys music more than him from what I can see
thanks, audio wizard
I like how you arent one more snob...too much of them everywhere
No Thing Thanks man. :)
youre welcome, waiting for more awesome reviews! will buy m40x this week for mixing and other good stuff ;) and already lovin my ships
Awesome! I highly recommend them!
Joshua Valour hey josh have you tried the the senn hd280’s are they just as good as hd668b/m40x?? I love the hd668b amped For gaming.

Hey man, I just came across your channel and I just want to say that I love it. Keep up the great work.
I bought the M40X for riding my bike and I was shocked at how they stacked up against my K712, especially when I listen to them without the ambient sound of riding my bike. They sound very different but the K712 cost around 200€ and the M40X around 90€ and I like them almost equally.
I have the M40X also. They are great.
Man, I must say this is the best headphone review/recommendation video I have seen in a looong time. You went straight to what matters... Price, SOUND and Feel! Some of these reviewers on here obsess about noise cancelling and aesthetics using posh words as if they were a commercial for exquisite fine chocolates! I just want to know how they Sound, what they feel like and how much!
The Philips is more in line with what I'm looking for. I will start there and see if there's an upgraded version hopefully to get better base response.
Thank you!
Really nice video, well paced delivery and very chill vibe without being boring.
Phillips are super comfy. The mid and highs are amazing for the price. And they suck donkey hooves for bass. Hope I helped at least 1 person.
Dan Goll what do you mean they suck donkey hooves lol
Dan Goll are they really bad in terms of bass or just slightly under the average?
@@yuliusjrt9917 the bass is just not there at all. It's clear. They're worth the money for sure, just maybe not for everyone
maybe your pc sucks donkey hooves, get a decent dac. My 9500 bass sound good because i have a desktop dac lol.
I’d say they lack that strong boom or “oomf” in basshead headphones but bass has a little punch and does cut through enough in the mix, at least in my experience with em
Stumbled across your posts. Great and informative reviews. I look forward to exploring more.
Great video man. Very helpful
The Philips SHP9500 is definitely a force to be reckon with
I have their antique iterations shp8900 and shp895 and I love how both of them sound.
I got ATH-PRO5X not long ago for 85 Euros and really love them. The choice was between them and M40X and it was a hard one because there's barely any reviews for PRO5X. Eventually after reading through Amazon reviews I noticed that many people praise the comfort of PRO5X and when it came to M40X quite a few people were complaining that they were uncomfortable, so that sealed the deal. They're also easy to drive, can get realy loud just from my phone, the bass is powerful and detailed, which made me really happy. Still sometimes wonder if I shouldn't have gotten M40X though, would be interesting to see someone compare them.
I have the Philips 9500 in this video, the bass is just there if you plug them into any decent jack, and use an aftermarket gold plater 4 pin auxiliary cable, and enable an equalizer to have full control of the at least 60Hz slider, just raise it up to your liking, and then the bass is more present, and deeper, or just enjoy the sound completely stock
Do the rawrr!
the philips is hard to drive?
Learning a lot. Thanks.
Best review of headphones I've ever seen. Subscribed
Thanks for the tipss
I'd like to add something about the m40x headphones. I own a pair and i think they are great for casual music listening too. I mean they don't sound boring like some other monitoring cans do. Yes,they are soooo flat but somehow they are a joy for music listening
I'm late but yes the punchy boomy sound of m50x is not for me. Plus they are heavier (more uncomfortable) and more expensive. M40x is the best for its price.
very good video dude, you need more subs
I've got the Philips SHP9500 and I can definitely recommend. I use them for gaming, but they work well for music as well.
They are ok for music. i ltried listening to Tupac and the Bass was really weak. Vocals are super clear, love these for gaming and podcasts. My Roccat Khan Aimo's sound a bit better for music tho.
Nice vid helped me a lot
Spot on Audio Technica are the real deal-For practicing on my amp aswell as monitoring.Great quality and performance...
My headphone of choice is the Sennheiser HD 4.50. I never see these in anybody's "favorite" lists, but for me, they are a good do-it-all pair of headphones. May not be the best, but for a noise-canceling, bluetooth (or cable) headphone, I really like the sound, and the comfort is... well, OK.
Are you recommending something other than the Phillips? They seem to no longer be available. Thank you!
Is there a big difference in sound if you use the angled pleather ear pads instead of the angled sheepskin ear pads on the m40x?
fantastic reviews...can't believe youonoy have 1.5 k subs still...

does the vmoda cable go with the audio technica headphones?
are they compatile?
...need the info urgently...are the chords that are provided enough for proper use?
7:22 this some great info right here thanks for clearing it up.
I bought a pair of wireless audio technica headphones from a discount store for $40 to see what they were like. They sound fantastic, very impressive spatial effect. I've been way more impressed with them than a $300 pair I have.
Hey, new subscriber! Your content is awesome!
I was wondering what could be better, getting the SHP 9500 with the v moda, a Bluetooth adapter, and maybe a shorter aux for around $150 ?
or to get the Cooler master mh 751 for $100 ?
...Or what would you recommend to me for the same budget? I do like listening to music clearly more than high bass and I do gaming as well, but I rather prioritize the music (just from my cellphone) over the gaming
that "I intend to win" line was so fucking cold haha
Will the mod mic pick up voices coming out of the HD668B, due to it's semi-open?
I own both Philips and ATH and they are really nice, JOSHUA, have you consider review some Panasonic. I heard a lot of really nice comments but they are not very well known. And for what I have seen in your other reviews is that you are not influenced by any brand. You review the staff as it really is and most important for how they sound. Regards
good review - thnx
I love the choices on the Phillips SHP 9500 to love them for cheap headphones check out the pre-Sonus HD seven I really like them quite a bit
Thx but why you dint mention the Sennheiser HD 559, cuz they are 99 and i think ther are good cuality, what you say about they Sennheiser HD 559
I actually bought all three of them, they have very different sound signature and I love all of them. Thanks for your recommendation Josh! Superlux 668B is the most comfortable one after I change the ear pads. ATH 40X has the best clarities and works even better with an amp, I also changed the mwaze earpads as recommended. SHP9500 is very special with extreme transparency, I am impressed.
I'm going to buy either m40x or shp9500 for gaming, watching movies, and music listening (I listen to all genres of music), can you recommend me which one I should get ?
@@evan.rianto Off these two, I will go for M40X. Open back could be annoying if you don’t have a dedicated study. I actually always go back to Superlux 668B, it is really an all rounder that I use everyday.
@@lxk515 thanks !
So having bought and listened to both the 668B's and the 9500S's over the past couple of years, is there anything with the clarity and balance of sound on the 668B's and the soundstage and comfort of the 9500S's? Just curious if I can get the best of both worlds without breaking the bank.
I listen to instrumental music. Will the third one be the best for me?
Have you tried k52 ? Is it good
I love how you included 3 different types man

Those Phillips look great. I still like my M40X more though.
The Superlux hd668b have been a pleasant surprise. I cannot believe I paid only $43.12 for these. I've owned, many gaming headsets, which cost, much more. However, these STEREO headsets, blow those so-called, gaming headsets out of the water. Plus, I bought some replica, Artis airweave ear cushions and a Neoteck 192kHz DAC and Converter to go along with them. The best sound, ever.
What is the best for u-tube programs and Netflix movies
Should I get the ATH m30x or the hyperx cloud II?
If you are linking the HD650 you should also link the HD6XX in your description! :)
I still rock my SHP's to this day. Shame that they don't really make them anymore. The price is just going to stay the same.
nice! very informative compared to other reviews. Can you also make a review of the Samson SR850 or SR950
The Samson SR850 are basically a differently tuned Superlux 681. Also, people say the Superlux 681, 668 and Samson SR850 have very similar sounds just slightly tuned differently
@@adamismail2883 I have just bought the 681F (white rings) they are great, very neutral apart from the treble peaks..(not as bad as the red 681)..but sound very similar to Samson Sr850. The difference is tuning. The Samson's are more VShaped with more distant mids and more sparkly exagerrated treble , although I think the midrange may be a tiny bit better, but that may be because they are well burnt in.
Try the akg k77 and k92. Except for the build quality they offer an unbelievable sound for the price. I know a couple of artists who have signed tracks that were produced through these headphones to top labels like Armada or Spinnin
Sound would you recommend m40xs for casual music listening in terms of sound quality? Thanks
Are the SHP 9500 equally good for classical, jazz, solo piano, Brian Eno i.e. NO VOCALS? (I love your channel, but you always make clear your first priority is how vocals sound so I have no idea whether all your great discussion applies to me.
Hi, are there any recommendations headphones for mixing/mastering for about 100 to 150 dollar? Thank you
Your patrion isn't in the description.
Ahh! Thank you. It has been updated. PATREON: patreon.com/JoshuaValour
Joshua Valour Np bro :)
YetiMacheteHD pay pal me? Lol
@@JoshuaValour hi josh
I have the m40 x and I like them, but the cables are broken. Any recommendations for a replacement cable please
Great no nonsense review. I have a question though. I just looked at another review on the Best Studio Headphones 2020, for Mixing and Mastering Reference Headphone. One of it's suggestions was the Audio-Technica ATH 'M50x' version. Your review like the other one basically agreed that both of these were awesome and versatile headphones. Other than the design, could you tell me what the difference is (if any) soundwise between the M40x and the M50x? Just needed to know before I make a decision. Thanks
Go to a nearest headphone store or Audio Technica store and try them for yourself, i don't have the m50x but the m40x was flat and the bass was very balanced and precised. I heard the m50x was punchier but What maybe good for the others or myself couldn't be good for you but both are great headphones and your not wrong for choosing one of them
@@Wylabn Wow! I totally forgot that I asked this question a year or so ago. I guess Josh had better things to do. Since then, I decided to go with a pair of AKGs instead. Thank you for your feedback though.
Is Sennheiser HD 598sr is better under 100? I'm music lover i want that hype when listening to music Please reply..
The general consensus regarding mixing/mastering (ie analytical) duties is that open and semi-open headphones are better suited than closed back, which tend to suffer from low frequency buildup and narrow soundstage. In light of that, both the Superlux and the Philips would be a better choice than the ATs for music production use (provided you have a quiet environment). For those who say mixing /mastering on headphones is a huge no-no and studio monitors are the way to go, the world's finest monitors won't be of much help in an untreated room. Open and semi-open headphones are the next best thing.
tekstarhi2050 still a good buy for 60 usd?
Please review the SIGVA vs007 ($89), people say is the replacement for the Philips SHP9500. Greetings from Cuba
Exellent advice.
Question about the 40x: somebody said that they are flatter than the m50x, but they are not completely flat, he said that if you never had hi quality headphones probably you might not hear the difference between both in certain kinds of music, only when there is extra bass.
I cant decide (based on the reviews) between m40x and m50x. It is for my guitar digital pedalboard.
What do you recommend at the $200 and under price point?
After owning the superluxes for a year i can say that they are great. But a big downside is the BIG lack of bass :(
Exchange the velour pads with those fake leather.
I just got a set of Sennheiser HD 520 for $60 USD! I saw another ad for the same ones for $900! Got quite a bargain!
just broke my 668b today can u suggest any 668b with better build quality ?
I got a pair of sennheiser hd579s for 60 dollars honestly these would've been great had I not found that deal. And great video man really love the quality such a weird contrast to how many subs you have.
Thanks dude.
I am still kinda new. Really started in November with the audio stuff. Still growing.
hope you grow man the quality is way above standard from color correction to audio everything is so well put together best part is the ( I assume) unbiased reviews.
What are the best headphones for editing / listening (have got great sound quality and bass and stuff ...) but are also good for gaming ( have got good picturing ) within the range of 100-150?
Try audiotechnica ws1100is. They are basically m50x but better sound and build quality. They also have a lot more bass than the m50x. They're 190 USD on amazon
Those are my only two headphones, the M40x and SHP9500. I think I'm having a third one. :D
Thx dude
I would picked the Sennheiser HD280 Pro for monitoring. Any particular reason for M40x's ov over HD280's?
The AD500x are better gaming/music headphones than the 668B but they are around $75 instead $45. They also have pretty bad attached cable in comparison to the 668B's easily accessed plug but I do like the stock ear pads moreon the AD500x personally.
Thank you
Do you think the m40x are good for gaming aswell? I have seen great reviews about them and i do some sound design stuff edit videos listen to music , but i do game a lot aswell, LOL , CS GO, etc and i just can't find anywhere some good feedback about gaming with those. Thanks in advance
Any headphones that are considered as good from reviews (such as this video) could be use for anything tbh, even gaming with a 20$ iem was enough
I recommend the AKG 361 over the m40x. Both $100, but the AKG 361 is much more comfortable out of the box and you do not need to replace the earpads. I owned them both at one point, but the m40x became hot and uncomfortable after 30 minutes of use , while I could wear the 361s all day long. I ended up selling the m40xs. They sound exactly the same though.
Those akgs were being priced as same as the m50x but 7$ - 10$ more instead the normal 150$, i ended up with the m40x and change the pads with a local brand (same as the brainwavz hm5)
I get the vibe that you’re no bullshit and put a lot of effort into videos. Sometimes headphone reviews feel like an advertisement and this isn’t that at all.
I need to see an updated version and one for IEMs

Can you recommend a hard carrying case for the Philips SHP 9500?
what the purpose of the V moda Cable for SHP?
I think you missing Takstar pro 82's. They sound very good and comfort...
V moda really does have one of the best cables in the industry.
I had a Superlux 668b for 4 years as the only headset I used and it _just_ now broke, the stress relieving doohickey on the end got yanked too hard I guess. Pretty dang durable, if you ask me.
I agree mine felt many times got them 4 year's daily use. Still like new.
Is the second headphone still gamer freindly? As in pinpointing players and such.
I bought the 668B for 12 dollars (used but good condition) + 12 dollar valour pads. Had one before. The male jack is its major con.
1st of, your video quality is great, 2nd..you sound realistic not super duper hyped.
I suggest you should cover more Headphones maybe on the next one.
You have spare phone? Any working phone. This one i am using is almost dead.
I am using skullcandy hesh ANC.
Great video
Where woul you rate the AKG K240 between these 3?
You dont recommend the HD58x from drop????
Why not shp for gaming?
The Phillips SHP9500 is a beast. Most comfortable headphones I’ve ever used. Built like a tank. The sound is perfection (slightly mid & high forward, slightly bass subdued). Perfect for rock and metal. Clarity, imaging, soundstage is great
I rank them with the best in my collection. They can compete with $200 headphones
Also, love the removable single cable
Do you recommend it? I found one for $79, new, and it has a two-year replacement warranty
If only he got to review the dt240 pro by beyerdynamic and the takstar pro 82 then i'd know which one to buy for sure :P
Are these Superlux better for gaming than the HD681?
I recommend the Sony MDR-7506, which can go as low as $75 (though it can often be found at $80-90)... it's so good for the price and the build quality is also not bad. Only flaw is the cable... it's stuck in... but still.. a solid headphone...
Much better than the Phillips Headphones...
Only major downside is the cable... makes it not as nice for taking out... but if you are staying at home, it's not as much of a problem...
what would you say about ad500x?
what headphones should i get that are over ear noise canceling and good for uk grime music with bass. not that too much bass shit dre beats has or the sony has. im talking pro sounding perfect bass. i have m40x and i use them for making music. but i wouldn't take them out on the go as they look big. so any suggestions please?
I'm late but I'm buying jbl e55 quincy edition and the reviews say they are very balanced and sound great for the price, check em out
Hey are the SHP9500 worth at around 100$??
can you recomend the best wired headphones for the elderly who are having hearing difficulty for watching tv
@conclude LMFAOOOOO
how's the soundstage of shp9500?
bigger or smaller than the superlux's?
Different. Superlux feels further away (For everything) 9500's feel more natural (can have close sounds and far sounds)
That make sense?
@@JoshuaValour yeah it does
Is ATH M50X any good for gaming? I don't want to spend on a separate headphones just yet..want an all round
Pretty decent for gaming. But imaging not too good for enemy gunshots/footsteps
