How To See Past What Drives You Nuts | Janine Marie Driver | TEDxWilmington

  • Before she can tell us how to see past what drives us nuts, Driver tells us about two important things -- that we are all in fact judgmental, and that we often suffer from inattentional blindness. Such circumstances can make us feel crazy. How do we get around it? Movement pattern analysis. Each of us has a fingerprint. Those who understand the system can tell a great deal about people by watching them move. But we can also use it. As Driver tells us, whenever something is driving her nuts, she now wiggles. It is a movement from early childhood, and one CANNOT be angry when one is wiggling. This, she tells us, can save you headaches, and more importantly, friends.
Janine Driver’s mission is to INSPIRE people to look at their world in a different way. Janine is the New York Times Best Selling author of You Say More Than You Think, and more recently You Can’t Lie To Me, award-winning keynote speaker, and body language expert for NBC’s TODAY Show. Janine is the CEO and founder of the Body Language Institute and the elite division called the Decision Profiling Group.
Janine and the Body Language Institute have helped Fortune 500 clients become examples of the total leader, which ultimately led them to win millions of dollars in new business contracts.

Everybody has their own style and merit in their own presentation, superfluous yet here we are listening to this woman. The learning curve is all that we go through and boy, Janine has gone through a lot of evolution. One of the best aspects of her presentations I see is the ability to get the audience's attention to whatever the heck she might be trying to say. Truly she is one of the speakers who increases one's attention span unless we may have inattentional blindness or just about a bit judgmental as I sometimes am. Thanks, Janine.

What an eye opening gift you just shared with those willing to watch and to listen. By the end of this presentation, I instinctively knew what my "wiggle" has always been. I thought I had somehow lost it, but it's still right where I left it. I needed this in more ways at this stage of my life than I can put into words. Perspective is everything. That's justna stone cold fact. Thanks so much Janine for sharing this! The more you know... You're a gem! ❤

Thank you so much!!! I feel like my children have decided to make me “Crazy” yet it’s their way of not having to see what they are doing . I have examined, re-examined also being a parent I have accepted all blame . This has brought a lot of shame as well as being Stuck!!! I am there for them at all times rain or shine . Yet, I do have anxiety so maybe what they are picking up on something I’m not seeing ? Yet I am losing my children to something I wish I knew what it was that I am doing ? I’ve decided to put facts above emotions . Still I am wrong ? “I would love to know better to do better”

Respect is a two way street, and kids know when they're not respected. (Do you explain, or do you dictate? Are they 15 and still have the responsibilities and privileges of a 5 year old? Habituate yourself: "Happy Birthday! You're new privileges are ..., your new responsibilities are ..."
Respect is a two way street, and kids know when you don't demand respect for yourself. (Ignore me unless/until I'm yelling, because there are zero consequences to ignoring me, unless/until I'm yelling.)

You wrote this four years ago. What is the current status of your relationships with your children? Did you learn something better, and did things get better because you did better? Still a work in progress, perhaps? The variables that our children are exposed to, whether it be the way mom or a teacher or the world at large chose to interact, makes it hard to guarantee a positive outcome. But I hope you found a good way to wiggle out of your fears and crazy emotions to find that you were not losing them afterall. But either way, if you see this comment, I feel you and would benefit to know what four years of life has brought.
