Hey Prof! I just wanted to say this.. I have been playing commander since day one when I started about 3 years ago. I have enjoyed watching these videos with different MTG formats and the super casual atmosphere. You've inspired me to try another format and I've recently bought a couple pauper decks and LOVE it. Thank you so much, you've made a real impact on so many people's lives. Thank you.
OMG! Grats Prof on your first ever win! I mean, for those of us without channels or streams, we win all the time with friends, but for people like you whose every game is on camera, its amazing that you've gone this long without winning... so congrats!
This is the representation that fun, kitchen-table-like scenarios have always deserved in Magic. I know no other format that puts this much emphasis on pure fun for the sake of itself.
I can't help but realize that Bloody was even more savage than we think. She's missing the Risen Reef triggers as if it's nothing is just the bully over the top.
Jim is my favorite MTG content creator, and one of the most entertaining players in Magic, I highly recommend you check out his UA-cam. It’s great to see him on the show!
Such a nostalgic episode for me. Started playing MtG with Onslaught (2002) and I played Clerics.. My first tournaments I went were around Innistrad era so two of these decks brought so many nice memories back. Thanks prof for this episode!
It's actually kind of interesting - Jim's Deck is running Chrome Mox, which is just not an OK Magic Card, but everything else is pretty bad by modern standards. Every card Bloody was running has an encyclopedia of text on it, but they're all fairly unidimentional value engines. Prof's deck was the one with the best of both worlds - some spells over the line for today's standards (some of them WAY over the line), and creatures that don't suck.
I'm old enough to also get the Da Bears joke, which makes me feel ancient. Great games though, love that illusions deck! Wonderful to see Bloody on as well ♥
While tapping your cards only 45 degrees may seem like a newer phenomenon thanks to people coming up on Arena, it was also fairly prevalent in the days around Revised edition because the tap symbol they employed for that set shows a T that is tilted at 45 degrees. I tapped my cards like that for a while back then until I realized how difficult it was to tell what the game state was and surrendered to the 90 degree tap, never to look back. Everything old is new again!
Yeah. Creatures were weaker. But if Jim had rolled up with decks from the Mirage to Urza period there were decks so degenerate that they'd stomp the heck out of modern decks without counters.
@@kevinjooss9348 Yep. I still have my original ravager affinity deck, In the same deck box and unchanged from the day they banned Skullclamp. I was a little salty lol. I like to break it out occasionally with the old Goblin Bidding deck just before 8th edition came out.

The deck Bloody was running perfectly represents most of what was broken/ unliked about those sets. It definitely turned me away from standard for a few years

First of all, thanks for the upload. I would never miss an episode. I have a request: when you link a decklist, make sure that it actually contains the cards you've played with. I first noticed this issue with the mono-black pauper decklist which did not contain Distress and now I notice that Bloody's decklist does not contain Quasiduplicate or Shifting Ceratops. One aspect of this series that I think is key is that viewers, like myself, enjoy seeing how the decks work not to mention possibly trying to put decks together ourselves. Does Quasiduplicare replace Entrancing Melody? Mass Manipulation? It would be a shame not to streamline all aspects of such an enjoyable series.

Moment she put the planeswalker down and began building that field up I was so hoping jim would drop a damnation just to wipe that board. Honestly game was ok to watch but old magic is almost always going to be at a disadvantage compared to newer magic due to the power creep.

I love these episodes very much found them on tiktok and have finished binging them, can't wait for more. I do wanna say at 1:05:37 why would infest not have whiped the board because the original copy of lord of the unreal was a 2/2 and not an illusion, did i miss something?
Prof explained in another comment that the copy Lord of the Unreal gives itself +1/+1 as it is an Illusion (via its own effect), so it wouldn't die (and it would keep the Illusion Bears alive aswell).
I really really loved this! Great chemistry, great show!
Bloody: *swings with everything
Jim: “I’m being embarrassed”
Bloody: *quietly sips her drink with her pinky up*
Moment she put the planeswalker down and began building that field up I was so hoping jim would drop a damnation just to wipe that board. Honestly game was ok to watch but old magic is almost always going to be at a disadvantage compared to newer magic due to the power creep.
It was a pubstomp for sure
So happy to see Bloody here!!! Her and Davis were hilarious together.
Such a great episode idea! Love seeing the standard decks out of their context and facing one another. Also, fantastic guests! Old guard and new generation! And Brian's suit? Amazing as always
