You should check out the elder dragon hijinks episode he was on, I honestly don't remember if he wins but he uses his brion stoutarm deck and does pretty well with it

At about 1:07:25 Prof played a planeswalker but since doubling season was on the field, the planeswalker enters with double loyalty. I don't know if this was mentioned before, I'm just happy I spotted something for once lol

At 1:13:15 the Boros player returns from "graveyard" cards that had been exiled due to his commander.
@@I_Am_Kas That’s not quite right. The boros commander returns the exiled cards to the graveyard once the spirit tokens die.
Another thing I just spotted, at 47:30 against startstorm, he made all of his creatures indestructible. Creatures having 0 or less toughness is a state based action that puts the creature into the graveyard, bypassing indestructible so his field should’ve been wiped
@@Bent0008 Incorrect. Damage accumulates on a creature, but does NOT reduce their toughness. It's just that if there's damage equal to or greater than their toughness, it's lethal damage, and the creature is destroyed as a state-based action. As shown in rule 702.12b, Indestructible prevents this by preventing creatures from being destroyed due to lethal damage.
Basically, Indestructible stops "destroy" effects AND damage.

That Vivien came in with 2x the counters because of doubling season! Could have changed a few things! Good game anyway.
Yeah the prof missed a few [Doubling Season] triggers with Atraxa as well. It’s only casual though so I’m not sure if anyone else at the table noticed?

Pretty sure Hofri should have exiled quite a few creatures - also Doubling Season was getting missed several times. Still hilariously fun episode nethertheless! :)
Hofri returns the exiled cards when they die though.
I thought so too, but then I read the card. I can’t believe it exiles them and then returns them to the graveyard. Seems good.
@@B-Randall George also did a misplay with the Solemn Simulacrum. Hofri triggers when the creature dies, meaning that the creature *does* die first.
When the Goring Ceratops was stolen using Act of Treason, Georg sacked it to make it a flying spirit. How did it maintain haste? It seems that it would lose it when going into exile.

Prof, “because I don’t miss my triggers” forgets lifelink on Atraxa immediately after. 😂😂
And like 10 doubling season doubles, that Vivien should have started with 10 counters.
It's fine, because all of those are replacement effects. He didn't miss any triggers! Only static effects!

Where was this? Georg prevented damage most times so if the damage didn’t go through, lifelink wouldn’t trigger.
Lifelink only happens when damage happens ...

The awkward situation from 28:34 to 29:00 is one of the most hilarious moments of the game. "Eights ascend, sevens...linger" is one of those foggy phrases that you say to confuse someone who is bothering you or right before a sneak attack.
Strixhaven: Memorizing the card, reminds you of the card.
I really enjoyed how this video showcased the "my deck is a 7" statement. Loved the Atraxa Merfolk xD
I never played commander and don't know incredibly lot about Magic, but this show allows me to not only watch and learn but also get what the fun behind the format is
Tappy’s energy is just wildly attractive. Honestly, everyone in the pod had a fun, banter filled, dynamic. This was a joy to watch
I would just like to point out, the 8/8 trample dinosaur token of TappyToes was actually a 9/9 trample vigilance thank to Radiant Destiny, which means it would have survived the 2 board wipes (8 damages total) and could probably changed the course of the game. Otherwise great game!
There was another 2 damage to everything afterwards that same turn for a total of 10 damage.
@@Miasmark the cards go back when yhe tokens die, so they can come back.

its not take one damage, it is survive with 1 hp and i believe georg had a card that deals 1 damage globally so she would have lost all of her dinos
@@finalfantasy50 It effectively is take only 1 damage as it says “prevent all but 1 of that damage”. In other words, only one of the damage would actually go through HOWEVER to your point, it’s one damage per source so multiple blockers could still take more than one in total.
I think the timestamp says it all. I've been there before. You're playing at a table and one person got their gears running at max capacity, dodging every attempt to squander their gameplan while completely dominating the rest of the table. By the time you're at turn 10, you're prone to just forget you have a board-state anymore, you're so hyper-fixed on what is happening around you. Especially with her status, where even if she went guns blazing, she might've been able to clean out either Georg or Brian, but the surviving player would just sweep you off the next turn.
George thinks his mismatched basics will trigger my OCD, meanwhile it was him tapping his lands in different directions on the same turn

I enjoy shuffle up and play. There were a myriad of rules errors in this one though haha. Happy to see my boi Chef PK!
I think that's pretty accurate of your typical game, referring to the rules errors. That's why I started my Tough Rules & Cool Interactions series, to help Commander players get better at understanding all the rediculous amounts of things going on in Magic.
I tend to be off and on in MTG, but watching you all play just makes me want to get some friends and play so much more the fun times you all have and the friendship there I can feel

@@TheOneTrueEfrate Na, the Climb only flips if the targeted creature has 3+ counters, not if he controls a creature with 3+ counters. So the first turn the creature only has 2 counters, unless he does it on Atraxa again expressely to flip it-but he might have wanted to spread counters first since between Season and Atraxa, a single counter is 4 by end of turn.
52:56 The dino has haste because of Act of Treason, but immediately sacrificing the dino for the token means that dino doesn't have haste and therefore it couldn't have attacked
It doesn't matter too much, because he could've attacked first and then then sac'd the dino after combat for the spirit clone. Just a small issue that popped up; could've mattered in case of reactions.
Recently rewatched this - Hofri gives spirits +1/+1 and Haste, sacrificing it turned it into a spirit so it's still good 👍 no rule broken here
Dear professor, the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are Mutants. they are part dino and part frog. they say that in the movie. + that is what science believe at the point the movie was made, they found out that dinosaurs have feathers WAY after the movie came out.

This is probably gonna get buried, but il say it anyways.
I'm almost completely deaf and rarely can hear sounds, voices and so, and as such the subtitles have been a godsend in acompanying the videos!
In this one i managed to hear the Professor voice for the first time, and it was extremely funny to hear, at least as much as it was possible for me to do, how much the mentalized voice and the real world voiced difered!
Keep up the awesome content, with subtitles of course!
That Boros deck was waaaay more powerful than the other decks... 40 minutes in the video and I'm not even bothering watching until the end because he's clearly gonna win.
The banter between all players was fun tho !

@@skruffytiger2002 I mean hard to hate out a deck when you're in Tribal Merfolk/Tribal Gishath/Mono Red Spell Slinger... Feels like a situation in which Georg just had way stronger and more consistent options than the others and whilst that's cool for some tables he was for certain not playing a seven as described by the others... Made the watch very unfun especially due to how obnoxious he was about it... Was literally only sticking around for PK, Tappy and Prof by the end
Vivien enters the battlefield with twice counters 'cause doubling season, right? Is that a missplay?
It is a misplay, yes. It's not the most intuitive interaction, but planeswalkers have an intrinsic etb effect that puts counters on a permanent, so Doubling Season kicks in there.

In the double Mizzium Mortars turn, Prof had 2 blue up and could have stolen the Boros commander using the Empress ability, all his creatures would have come back as spirits
Empress was played that turn and had summoning sickness
At 1:05:48 the Solemn Simulacrum did die. Hofri's trigger says 'Whenever another nontoken creature you control dies, exile it'. This means the creature dies first, then you exile the card from whatever graveyard it ended up in.
For it to prevent 'dies' triggers, it would need to be a replacement effect, worded as 'If a nontoken creature you control would die, exile it instead.'
EDIT: Also, Vivien Reid should've come in at 10 loyalty due to the Doubling Season. Entering the battlefield with counters counts as putting counters on that permanent.
Thanks for pointing this out. Hofri is my 2nd favorite commander and I was fussing hard over the fact that I may have not read the card correctly and death triggers don't work with Hofri. I was sure they did because there's no replacement clause but I couldn't find anywhere online anyone spelling out "death triggers work with Hofri".
Tappy may be the most fun person on this show

There was a miss play by Georg with the knight of the white orchard and blood mire accelerating his mana by playing his land drop as an instant so the knight couldn’t count it as a land he would have
They have weird definitions for 7 and 8 power level. I would say 10 and 9 are CEDH like Winota maybe a 9 while Thrasios+Tymna is a 10. I think of 8s like strong consistent combo decks that aren't packing CEDH level interaction. Osgir, Jacob Hauken that are looking to win the game with a lock or combo but takes a bit to get there. 7 would be strong value with some combo if you get to it but your simic value, landfall decks, etc.. while a 6 is your general consistent battle it out just above precon decks that feature lots of strong cards but maybe no dedicated easy combo.
it was a joke, the "my deck is a 7 "is a running joke in the community. They didn't really all intend to play 7's. Every deck is a 7 according to the owner basically.
I do agree with your description of powerlevel though. Although i'm not sure winota can be a 9 since 9's are combo oriented win before turn 5/6 i think. combat decks are often not strong enough for CEDH
Yeah I'm confused as to how I power level my decks. They have good consistency and powerful cards/pricey that help the commander's mechanics a lot but each deck doesn't necessarily run the colors pricey staple cards. For an example, I have a mono blue minn willy illusionist deck with consecrated sphinx, rhystic study, sensei's divining top, mystic remora etc but I don't put those cards in my sidisi the brood tyrant deck because although it's good card draw for sidisi, I have a lot of consistent cards that are in my sidisi deck that go hand in hand with self mill/recursion etc. If that makes sense.

@@albertonunez2045 same with you! The minn deck can be pretty damn good. Especially with testsuko. I don't use lord of the unreal or any lord affects that buff my illusions toughness so that tetsukos ability can be used to produce some nice combat damage. I just added omniscience, intruder alarm, murmuring mystic to the deck so I'll see how that play tests. But I have a lot of tap looter cards to have consistent draw effects to make more illusions with her ability rather than having a lot of illusions to cast in the deck If that makes sense.
@@emansfield2017 yeah I chose the same path, more creatures that draw cards over creatures that are illusions. I also run omniscience and murmuring mystic. I would run intruder alarm but my table has a lot of enchantment destruction so I try to limit those slots.
Fun tip: when I play omniscience I tell them not to worry because it’s just an illusion.

Chef PK Could have DEFINITELY responded when the Dualcaster Mage was sacrificed, both are triggers that allow priority. Georg fast-played PK by announcing his intent for the Dualcaster Mage Trigger before he had a chance to respond.
He could respond, but he can't target the Dualcaster Mage. Which may have been his intent as the tables resident red deck.
Proliferate also adds additional counters via doubling season when the Prof proliferates, on top of other missed replacement effects with doubling season. (Looking at you Vivian)

I know this is old but when prof plays his planeswalker it would actually come in with 10 loyalty not 5 due to doubling season. Its a neat interactionthat makes planeswalkers pretty neat.
I did the decklist rating thing, and it turns out, it's impossible for me to make a PL7 deck.
All my decks are 6s or 8s. There is no 7 in between any of them. I do have a 3 though, and that one has seen the most success, I guess proving the phrase, "they can't know what I'm doing if I don't."
My first EDH deck was mono red. So much fun to play which what the format was created for. Not a second version of standard.
Tappys Dino token shouldnt have died to the mortars because of her enchantment making it a 9/9 right?

I guess it shows (by design) how arbitrary those deck power levels are, but, if I had to evaluate the decks, George's deck actually looks like a 7. Maybe the Dino deck too, but probably lower. Atraxa was DEFINITELY lower. And the red deck didn't perform at all, so hard to evaluate

You gotta love how Tappy finally reacted to Prof's cards at @1:06:42, but lets be honest, if you look at her eye line, she's been staring at his hand the whole game.
Thankfully, they aren't playing poker, or Prof would have lost the suit off his back.
EDIT: though, to be fair, Tappy might be looking at the camera, not Prof's deck. Prof just has his hand in her line of sight.
Caught a misplay. At about an hour in, Prof played Planeswalker Vivian Reid while having a doubling season in play but didnt do the trigger. Surprised nobody noticed.

You choose a source of damage (not target) that won't deal damage to a chosen target (does target).
Also I thought that the red/white commander exiled the creatures after they were sacrificed and brought back?

So I'm not sure if anyone has covered this and am sorry if it has already been mentioned, but Hofri exiles the creature and the copy is a token, so there are quite a few creatures that would not have been able to come back, not sure it would have affected the final outcome but still worth reading the card

miss-plays: when professor proliferates with doubling season it would add two counters instead of one and when you proliferate a saga that chapter triggers it doesn’t get skipped it just happens right away

Dozens of missed triggers and wrong handling. Now I know why Game Knights has a judge there for every game, just to watch out for that. But tbh it really doesn't matter, because this was like a real good commander round. The same stuff happens to everybody who plays in a edh pod and drinks a couple drinks. Loved the vibe and the jokes. More of this please!
